- On July 23, 2009, Mark Buehrle stepped in for his 20th start of the season. What began as nothing but another indistinguishable appearance for the left hander ended as anything but ordinary. The perfect 27 outs that followed were coupled with immense drama that was punctuated by a harrowing catch from DeWayne Wise to rob Gabe Kapler of a home run in the ninth inning and later solidify the 18th perfect game in MLB history.
From the Archives is a new series that highlights just a few of the greatest games and player achievements recorded in White Sox baseball. The series incorporates highlights stretching from LaMarr Hoyt’s 1983 Cy Young campaign to Dylan Cease’s 1-hit complete game shutout, all of which are sure to spark memories for baseball fans.

Brings me good memories. Loved every game he pitched. Saw him come up as reliever in 1999. Thank you to Buehrle for 2005 season and many seasons with 15 games won 200 innings pitched and absolute leader and animal lover

I remember getting told at work after the 8th inning so I went out to my car to listen on the radio and hear Farmer in the 9th inning closing it out.
Buehrle can thank his center fielder for that tremendous catch. It preserved that perfect game.

oreally-Sox need to get rid of Jerry Reinsdorf as owner, Kenny Williams as Vice President, Rick Hahn as GM, and Pedro Grifol as manager, because those four men are helping to drag the Sox down, and as long as Reinsdorf owns the team, they're not going anywhere, because Reinsdorf isn't committed to winning.
