My grandma loved André rieu and now she has died today at the grand age of 97 the last few days we've been playing dvds and CDs of André to help her relax 😢

Mirusia is from Australia. born in Brisbane, but both her parents are Dutch. Her aunt, who lives in the Netherlands, contacted André Rieu to tell him about her niece's talent, and the rest is history..

I completely concur with what you say. We are down to see her again on the Gold Coast here in Australia on the 8th May 2022. It will be the fifth time we will be seeing her live and listen to that voice soar around the hall where she will be singing. The way she reaches those high C6's so effortlessly is amazing.

Tonight (18 March 2024), I had seen a Facebook post about Jane Darwell, the lady on the steps of St. Paul's in the 1964 Mary Poppins film. So I nipped over to CZcams to listen to Julie Andrews' version. Next up was this, by Mirusia. Imagine my surprise when I read your comment!!
For what it's worth, since I mentioned the Facebook post, here is the text:
"Jane Darwell was semi-retired from acting, other than a rare television guest appearance. She had recently moved into the Motion Picture Country Home because of her advanced age and feebleness. When Disney offered her the role of the Bird Woman in Mary Poppins (1964), Darwell declined the role. Walt Disney, still insistent, personally drove to the retirement home to plead with her and she agreed to take the part. It was her last acting role. In this pivotal scene in the movie, the Bird Woman at the steps of St Paul's Cathedral Square sells bags of bread crumbs to passers-by to feed the pigeons. The "poignant" song "Feed the Birds" was sung by Julie Andrews, as a hymn-like lullaby."

I absolutely love Mirusias performances. Indeed I am a huge admirer of Andre Rieu’s concerts. Wish I could attend a live show.
Search his future concerts, you never know when he is near you. I've done the same last summer after one of the cinema concerts,and I have just seen him in London last week. It was incredible!!!!
This song was dedicated to Queen Beatrix fom Holland,the day her son Willem Alexander did take over the trone and bécame King of the Netherlands. Thank you so much for this tribute for Beatrix. Love you.

She sings this the best of all singers. When she glisses up the octave, the power and quality of her voice is fantastic. Blonde in a royal blue gown, so striking. I'm a fan!

She is Mirusia Louwerse, an australian soprano, very young (1985). In 2006 became the youngest ever winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award. You can read more about her in Wikipedia. This song was played in my oldest sister's funeral 10 years ago. She died when she was over 50 only and was a dentist who just graduated 2 yrs before that.. My nephew choose that song for his mother. That was the first time I heard and asked the name of it! Then, I loved this song since that day until now.

I was lucky enough to have been playing the timpani during the recording sessions of the album Songs of Inspiration and knew that Mirusia would go to further heights. Andre Rieu wisely chose her to join him on tour and the rest they say is history

I received the new DVD and Cd from Mirusia today the 29th May 2021. We saw her live in Tweed Heads on the 8th May here in Australia, The DVD and Cd are both beautifully packaged and the sound is excellent. A great rendition of an all time classic song sung by Mirusia. Australia's last great soprano was Dame Joan Sutherland who was the best in the world at the time. Mirusia is improving with every performance and she too, will one day, take over Joan Sutherland's mantle. A great voice Mirusia and I wish you all the best for the future.
