Thanks for covering this. I'm an American in taiwan. I have permanent residence here and I also worked in professional gaming before. I was also on Flash Wolves team from 2013 to 2014. After that I worked at many different PC hardware companies in Taipei and I've been in 2 esports-related documentaries. You're welcome to reach out to me for any info you may need but I haven't worked in that sector since 2019.

Nice video! A part of the relative success come from the culture. While our counterpart actively crackdown on gaming, the environment is widely accepted and destigmatized, even more so then South Korea (regarded as the Mecca for esports). Not willing to be left behind, even the older generations are playing video games especially on their mobile devices.

I’d love to see a video about how Finland ended up with the top rated player in the world… or about how the North American servers are so under skilled that Korean players come and win the weekly open cups.

aha did riot games cave to the CCP and have announcers refer to taiwan as "chinese taipie" and all players as "taipie"???
good video its nice to see Taiwan in the competitive scene being independent

Social credit doesn't work the way you think it does. China has a huge gaming industry also. White people showing Asians as a yellow Winnie the Pooh is pretty racist, too. This is just low level weirdness by Europeans and Americans who think they should have any say in what happens between China and Taiwan.

Well social credit is just a meme out there, I didn't really mean anything deep on that. As for Winnie, it's actually another meme on Xi Jinping who has some resembelence to it. It's not a political video after all, just some silly jokes and that's it :)
