I love when trailers are a bit vague and you’re not quite sure what’s going on
This film is TERRIFYING! The Innocents is flawless cinema in every way. I just finished it a half-hour ago and I’m still catching my breath. I give a roaring standing ovation to this absolute masterpiece. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go clean myself up.

Genuinely one of the greatest horror films to come out in recent years. Not only is it scary but also touching because it deals so much with the angst and loneliness of adolescence. It has an atmospheric feel to it along with a dream-like quality that’s very hard to explain, with some scenes feeling almost claustrophobic, which is ironic because they mostly take place out in the open. It’s very rare for horror films to achieve these qualities, but when they do, they are very special and should be regarded as such.
Although the film has supernatural elements, it’s not a film about unreal powers, but imo a character study on the very real moral dysfunctions of children. The film also features one of if not the best child acting performances of the year along with Petite Maman.
It’s just wonderful, I haven’t felt this excited over a horror film in a while, an absolute must see for horror fans. Also, I have to put it out there, if you haven’t seen it and is a cat lover, ***be warned***.

Probably one of my favorite movies ever
Amazing film! And one of my favourites of the year. Written and directed by Eskil Vogt, one of the writers of The Worst Person in the World. Do NOT miss this one out.

Seen it a few weeks back. It jumped straight into my top ten films of 2021. A well crafted & highly original art-house horror gem. Animal lovers be warned though, there's a particularly graphic & cruel cat killing scene.

Kid actors are so aware when given serious role in thriller/horror genre.
They love it. They love playing into scary material. They find it realy fun to be able to 'scare' anyone. And they laugh and giggle about it with their peers when They get it right.
Its not at all a scary process for them.
If its over the top gory scenes, kids are usually not allowed there, there must be a law against that, they use camera trick or edit the kids to be in the scenes.
Especially in this one! It goes many many dark places. Great film too

Don't know if it's the best.. I've stopped working horror movies.. I was convinced to see this one... And boy!! It was really good... It's natural, very realistic terror.. I prefer to have fun at the movies.. But I would recommend it. It's also different from the typical American films.

Definitely a good movie, sad and disturbing at times but definitely done well. More of a thriller/science fiction almost, rather than Horror IMO.

Ah, that's a totally different movie; the two have nothing to do with each other. The Norwegian movie's original title is De uskyldige, which happens to translate to The Innocents. It's a coincidence. Both movies have scary kids in them, but that's as far as the similarity goes.

2/3rd's of the way through it, and so far it's a darn good movie. Great leveraging of the behavior of young children, their influence by the world and adults around them, and how they react to it. Unless this thing craps the bed, it'll be one of the best "horror" flicks that uses a story instead of shock effect to entertain.

Every hearing this makes my stomach leap to my mouth. Looked like a good film but I think I'll pass.
It's definitely hard to watch even if aren't extremely sensitive to scenes like that. I watched the movie yesterday and that part definitely had my stomach in knots. I feel like it pays off in the end though and was worth the 5ish mins of discomfort.

Idk guys... It's givin Chronicle in kid version but I think there will be more killing because kids tend to spiral out of control with their emotions more than most fully developed adults but most of the comments say it's worth a watch soo we'll see ig lol
This movie is a much darker version of Chronicle except in this movie the abilities these kids have are unexplained. The acting from the kids were surprisingly very good and the story was also pretty good definitely worth a watch Chronicles is still the better movie overall.

it's not said explicitly but this really feels almost like a reboot of village of the damned (1960) which was also about kids with psychic abilities. the kid drawing on the sketch pad with the blond hair and bangs seems like a direct reference
love seeing a new take on a story like this if it turns out to have actually taken inspiration from that film
Which upsets me when read the description and it mentions it’s an ‘original’ film. It’s not an original concept at all.
The idea of ‘innocent’ children having power over adults and acting upon these abilities to cause chaos is a tale as old as time. Literally. Movies, books, literature, old fables and fairytales.
It works because yes, the idea is absolutely creepy; absolute power in the hands of a dumb child is a terrifying concept.
Of course a child is going to torture a cat because it’s ‘upset’. Ask anybody and they will tell you things like; when they were a child they wished their parents were hit by a bus and died. Because something stupid like they weren’t allowed to eat a piece of chocolate or play a game they wanted; and cried all day and all night screaming ‘I HATE YOU!!’
Because that’s what children do. They’re literally stupid.
The only reason why children are cute and not creepy is because they can’t do the things they want to. We, parents and adults of the community, are able to physically stop them from doing harm. Could you imagine how crazy life would be if all children were stronger and more powerful than adults?! That’s horror movie material 100%
Edit* I want to further strengthen my argument; it’s why many parents of highly autistic children ‘give them up’ at a certain age. Because the child gets old enough and big enough to become stronger than mummy and daddy, but still has the mind of a two year old. It’s scary and it’s an actual danger to their other smaller children or pets, who get hurt.
@@DrSardonicus The originality of a film comes from the execution and not the concept. In that sense, it is original, as the formal aspects and the focus on the transmission of certain feelings almost never reside within this type of genre film.
Also, while children are developmentally different and occasionally test certain limits, the vast majority never actually wish their parents were killed, man. Lol. As someone who has worked exclusively with children for over twenty years, most of them actually possess more empathy than many of the adults that I meet. It appears as though you haven't done much research on the subject of children and are simply blowing up the anomalies. Anyway, this film is great because the powers and acts of violence can be viewed as metaphors for certain behaviours.

The kids in Village of the Damned were aliens. The Innocents is about kids with supernatural abilities like telepathy and telekinesis.
This trailer is pretty misleading in that it isnt a cheap horror-supernatural thriller. Its an extremely atmospheric and gripping slow burn thriller.

Reminds me a lot of Les Revanants, the original proper french version, not the rubbish American one, if they did New Mutants. Kind of. God this was epic, the final battle was so understated

This is a really great film. Superbly unsettling. But fair warning: a cat gets killed. That upset me more than anything else in the film.
The part where he controlled the mom to kill her own daughter was more disturbing then the cat scene.

but before that, the cat from the 6th or 7th in the stairwell is dropped so that she breaks one of its hind legs, it doesn't get any more sadistic than that

This was a good film but perhaps a little slow moving. I'll some it up without giving any of the movie away. it's about a group of kids at an apartment complex that developed special sixth sense abilities. Ultimately, I think the main thing to take away from this picture is that the good ultimately triumphed over the evil.
I feel they portrayed the main girl as on a slippery slope to evil. She tries to hurt her sister in sadistic ways, spits on the ground from a high floor, swishes a worm, covers the cat with clothing and has no discomfort witnessing the cat fall from a great height. Then she ultimately "chooses" goodness after seeing the cat's demise, thank God.
And puts shards of glass in her autistic sister's shoe on purpose
The boy's harsh life and bad brought up by his mom made him villain. Sad😢

The "scariest movie I've ever seen"????? Wow. I have to disagree. I think any Disney movie ever made is far scarier than thus. This movie wasn't even good.
The child actors were incredible and as an American who has close family in Norway, I did love hearing the language and not needing the subtitles as much as any other language that isn't English.

I thought it was a subpar movie at best....there was not much static time without talking the end scene was super anticlamatic and practically boring. The kids acting was okay but thats it. To much of the movie leaves holes as well

the extreme animal brutality/cruelty is disturbing and an unnecessary, cheap gratuitous scene to put in film
It's a telltale sign of a psychopath. Kids who experiment with killing animals are more likely to become serial killers as adults. It's a painful scene but it tells us that this kid is one of those. Not just a regular kid with underdeveloped morals, but a full-blown psychotic killer in the making. The instant he does that, we know, uh-oh, this is a worst-case scenario. He's the last kid you'd want to have that kind of power.

You might say this movie drew inspiration from Dome, or paid homage to it, or ripped it off, or was in keeping with the tradition of countless scary stories about kids with supernatural powers, including Dome, Village of the Damned, The Omen, Firestarter, and the Twilight Zone episode It's a Wonderful Life. Plagiarism is more like taking someone else's writing and claiming to be the author. Making a similar movie, or a movie with similar elements, or a remake, is not plagiarism. It's tradition.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen, a piece of crap
Movie is so bad it turns in to a comedy with the audience laughing type of film. Felt like a 5 hour movie, no characters you can root for, hoped everyone in the movie perished for wasting everyone’s time. The long drawn out shots of the kids from every angle for 30 seconds at a time got old fast. No plot, no common sense from any of the characters but maybe the Father. 2/10.
