So underrated. Whatever she's rated, she's underrated. A gem. I worship her.
Jenny Lewis changed my life
How so?
It was probably you... just sayin'.
"You thought I was your muse...
But all along it was you"
Think about it, mate
Life is full of years, hang tight lad
Died from alcohol a couple of times. Lost my home on the streets at 30. Bob Dylan album Desire pulled me through. I just discovered Jenny-I don't know how I missed you and your beautiful music Jenny.----Brian Birch
Legend.
Jenny Lewis is one of those rare persons for whom the World is a better place for her being in it. It has been an honor to be able to watch her evolution, live.
Jenny Lewis sucked me in after her Rabbit Fur Coat album with the Watson Twins- shes a lyrical genius with a beautiful voice! Shes timeless! Her time with Rilo Kiley is worth checking out as well!
High time Rilo Kiley made comeback. Blake Sennett is wasted.
That album is incredible. (Rabbit Fur Coat)
Lots of nostalgia for me, it came out when I was in highschool. Must have played it 200 times that year. Check out "I'm Having Fun Now" by Jenny and Johnny. "Big Wave" is my fav JL song.
IDK bout the Elton glasses, haha
Worth checking out? It it was her best effort. Their breakup broke me up.

Damn, Wasted Youth with all the live strings sounds amazing!
Tight
How have I never heard of this beautiful music... Please excuse me as I come out from underneath this rock.
Look up Rio Kiley. Jenny is just a god damned gem!!
I hear ya. My eyes are having a hard time adjusting to the light, after so many years in the dark.
Make sure to listen to her solo stuff, her stuff with the Watson twins, Rilo Kiley, and the Postal Service; everything she touches is gold; hell, one of her music videos stars her, Kristen Stewart, Brie Larson, and Anne Hathaway lmao
I can relate. For me it's been guitar, guitar, guitar for years, then this wonderful person smacked me sideways. Never knew I could smile so much.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, and to hear these tracks like this was just…something else entirely. Ugh. Fabulous.
A true timeless talent. Loved when she took her glasses off for the sake of sincerity.
Fell in love with Jenny in The Wizard as a little kid. Still love that movie. Been a fan of hers since then. Beautiful voice.
Good ol KEXP. Kudos to the engineer(s).
An orchestral version of Red Bull & Hennessey is something I didn't know I needed in my life, but I'm glad it's there.
Don't forget her in the Postal Service, too; I saw them live in Berkeley, and I love Ben Gibbard too, but she totally stole that show
here is the playlist:
0:44 Heads Gonna Roll
5:50 Wasted Youth
10:04 Party Clown
25:02 Red Bull & Hennessey
thank you!
She makes it look effortless, amazing
this channel itself is as wholesome as their hosts 👁👄👁
Elle Winchester well said!
Jenny baby ♥️🌷I love how she's wearing her merch
Just incredible. The orchestration is so well done, her voice is amazing, the melodies are very catchy. How I wasn't aware of her beautiful music is beyond me. So happy to find her here. Thanks KEXP!
Brando Field if you haven’t ventured out to her old band Rilo Kiley since making this comment, you’re in for a trip. some of the best music of the 2000s. this solo stuff is incredible but a huge part of me still longs for a RK reunion.

I just discovered Jenny, absolutely gem 💎 😊
new records itself is very good, but with strings, amazing, this left me speechless
so I started to learn playing the guitar a couple of months ago and I just keep playing Jenny Lewis songs, because she uses such easy chords and the songs are so much fun to play. Heads Gonna Roll, The Voyager, Just One of the Guys and Slippery Slopes are my go-to's. Also a bunch of Rilo Kiley stuff. So good!
It's amazing how playing an instrument can improve your life. Hope you're still playing. Have to love Jenny to the max!
Wow, gorgeous arrangements. Her voice sounds so good here!
The interviewer is great here. He really gets her music and clearly appreciates the craft of her songwriting. His comment that this album has a real 'ease to it' and 'flow' absolutely captures the feel of On the Line. He also has a great empathetic manner and gives her the space to speak. Good on you man.
KEXP has always been amazing at that; it isn't just this performance that they've been amazing. They obviously do their research ahead of time and spend time listening to their guest's music for a while before the performance.
I'be had an uber-crush on her for 2 decades now!
I still have a crush on her as well, simply phenomenal woman Jenny is
Ms.Lewis never disappoints.
Jenny sounds great live. Love the String section. She is a beautiful artist, really down to earth
Still kills me every time when she mentions Elliott Smith. I was at a Rio Killey dhow when More Adventurous was coming out when I picked up his last interview in a magazine at the venue I last saw him at.
On a happier note, I've seen Rilo Killey a million times but only Jenny solo once. Wish her and Phantom Planet do a small tour together or some shows!
LOVE the vibe of the versions of these songs!
Amen, I was a PP Phan too and found out about her through their shows.
With her mention of Elliot... It made my heart pause❤️
Ugh phantom planet that would be the dream
Truly wonderful artist
And a wonderful session from the incomparable Jenny
Marvellous with the strings added
I heard Harry Styles chose Jenny Lewis for his opening act next year, and I thought, "who is Jenny Lewis?" Then I found this performance and now I can see that Harry Styles is not only talented and charming, but has an amazing instinct for music that just pierces your heart. A big thanks to Harry for breaking out of the chart machine and giving folks a chance to hear this brilliant and incandescent performer and her band.
That so? Well done Harry Styles. Cool move, man.
Who is Harry Styles? ;-)
Yet another reason to love that guy. He's seriously the best! Are you going to the tour?
Jenny Lewis has been around Forever...way before Harry....Rilo Kiley?! And an amazing solo artist in her Own right... Come on now ...
@@Jolene37 The point is, he's exposing a whole other group of people to her music. This is a good thing.
I always feel like Jenny is too cool for these interviewers, what a fuckin champ she is.
Simple. I see Jenny Lewis I click.
One of my favorites. I love her record, "On the Line". Very talented.
Kevin Suggs is always the star. This performance sounded incredible.
What an amazing performance! It's a nice alternative to the studio recording, and I am going to be visiting this performance for years to come.
It's fresh!
Oh your songs melt into my heart ❤️
This is why I subscribe to KEXP. Pleasant surprises and discoveries like this.
she is an angel
LOVE her voice!
I'm seeing Jenny at concert tonight. Can't wait.
Jenny nails it all the time. Soulful, classic, talented! She’s got heart. Wonderful storyteller!
Yeah, she's lost nothin. Edit to add: her composition skills are really out in front here. She's always listenable, always hook-y, and sharp as hell lyrics, too.
They don't call her the "queen of indie rock" for nothing
Much love, light and healing to you Jenny Lewis, I’ve also lost everyone since 2014. You are not alone my fellow orphan 💕 Thank you for the gift of your music, it is nurturing many Souls
This performance deserves a vinyl release!!
Every KEXP recording does.
You have made me like music again.
Thankyou Jenny.
Jenny you are great , I like, songs great, I didn't know you could sing like that you go girl
Alan White played drums on John Lennon's song Imagine. Jim Keltner played Crippled Inside, Jealous Guy and I Don't Want to be a Soldier, on the album Imagine.
Stunning!
An interview with Ryan Adams lead me to Jenny Lewis. Thanks Ryan!
Album of the year
Fantastic!
Queen of indie rock ❤️
This gave me all of the feels.
Wow! They got me!
Saludos desde Salinas, Puerto Rico
What a great album
Incredible performance.
still miss rilo kiley everytime i hear her voice
Her best stuff was with Blake Sennett. Her album with the Watson Twins is one of my favorites of all time, but her other solo releases have been comparatively underwhelming if I'm being honest with myself. Of course, "underwhelming" for Jenny is still better than 95% of whatever else is out there.
@@ascotia I dunno, I think her solo stuff is more consistently good. Her best songs are mostly with RK but RK had some duds, especially towards the end on Under The Blacklight. I think all of her solo records are better than UTB. The first two Rilo KIley records were front to back brilliance though, that's not even debatable. Personally, I would rate her albums:
1.) Take Offs And Landings
2.) The Execution Of All Things
3.) Rabbit Fur Coat
4.) More Adventurous
5.) The Voyager
6.) Acid Tongue & On The LIne (these two are so close I can't decide on placement)
7.) Under The Blacklight
That said, even the lower ranked Jenny Lewis/RIlo Kiley stuff is significantly better than 95% of other bands.
I personally prefer her solo stuff to her RK stuff, but it's all great. I think Acid Tongue is my favorite LP.
Very nice song !❤
Great stuff!
Even though it's live and without Ringo's drums from the actual recording, "Heads Gonna Roll" still sounds like The Beatles "Free As A Bird".
Her new album is so good. It's in heavy rotation here.
Oh yes!
I love you Jenny
Wasted Youth kills me anyway but this is ridiculous. 🥰
Never give up !
The Best
The goddess Jenny!
Elton? Are you there?
Chasing down another lead on Jenny Lewis, and of all people doing an interview with her it's long lost Rev-105's Kevin Cole. Yo, I still have my Rev Card! You never know.
But about Jenny Lewis. Saw someone use the word "clarion" in an article about her. If you had to pare her down to just one word, well that's a good one. And to think she was shy about singing & playing piano at the same time. Wow.
Quite an image, her driving along Dylan's Hwy 61 in a red convertible Porsche. Maybe an in-dash 8-track player, going thru Zim's back catalogue? Or Gordon Lightfoot.
Some people are more than others. She is, and it seems like she's on the right side of things too, generally.
So, thanks for that.
❤❤❤
Why does this have only 100k views ????
She’s a cutie & a sweetie & a hunny 🥰
Flawwwwwlessss
Jenny Lewis - Full Confession (Live on Life)
I’m m going to miss you
So, who are the folks on strings? Whole band is awesome!
악기와 정말 잘 어울리네요.
She knows I long to meet her
Prettiest woman in the music scene today. Great tunes also.
Liked her in the TV series Brooklyn bridge. She still looks like she did back then just older
she went from he touched my breast! to this hahahaha my very first crush on a girl in life was Jenny
She's got a watergun full of red ink for everyone who dislikes this
Where is the heart button? 💜
I wanna be her in my next life
I'm really feeling Redbull and Henessey💔
She needs a biopic and Carey mulligan should play as Jenny
I like this version of red bull and henessey
Waiting for her to play "Crocodile Rock."

Once again, we have the weekly periodical New Yorker, to thank for re-introducing us to great artists like Jenny Lewis. Jenny Lewis has been on the periphery of our general awareness for longer than we can remember. Perhaps she plays a similar role in your life? Happy to have her with us as she may be one of the best pop song lyricists (singer-songwriter) working today. A strong melodic voice booms out of this slight body. Lyrics from a liberal arts storyteller.
I just figured out she’s on the movie the wizard from 1989
I can't get the Party Girl to love me. so dance
Why do I get Elton John vibes here? Not a bad thing 🙌🧡
Not to brag, but I saw her and Ben gibbard play “nothing better” together
i'm a party clown
Brilliant performance but the interview was a bit painful.
Okay guitar nerds, name that guitar (the tele copy).
Saam book ‘em, Dano
13:10
Anyone know the guitarist's name?
Jenny Lewis would’ve laid her hands on her headphones when wearing them! That sucks!
