If one resolves to read through the Bible in the new year, the pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) is generally where the study will begin. The first five books of God's word are filled with both wonderful stories and difficult readings. The difficult readings are where some get frustrated and abandon their resolution. However, understanding the first five books of the Old Testament (the Torah) and their purposes in Scripture will help the Bible student stick with their plan of studying to the end of God's word in the new year.
