I think it keeps me grounded in my roots and I love handling it and I get some much needed exercise as well. I was touched by your drugs and alcohol journey and being about the same age and though not having had a problem with either drugs or alcohol. Understanding that you don’t want to make axes for a living... How about selling some axe kits in the store. One of your new axe heads, a good handle for it, all the pieces necessary to put it together. You could do different types of axe kits as well. You could let people choose different handles. Maybe some like the electrically burned effect, I forget what it’s called. You could then do a special video on how to build your own Buckin Special... I think people might find it fun to do their own that way. Iam sure I would. Of course it doesn’t prevent you from continuing to build em occasionally for people.

Madrone is hands down the best wood! It burns so much cleaner than oak-- about 1/4 as many ashes left over. The oak is great though if you just want to put a huge chunk in, go to bed and have it last all night. My wood pile is ~70% madrone, 30% oak. I burn fir for outdoor fires.

I have split wood on the West Coast AKA WA, East Coast AKA WV and out West AKA MT. The hardest wood I have ever split is old Cottonwood tree trunks that have spent life on the plains of Montana in the wind and cold. ( I have not split Live Oak But I have split high plains Elm from MT and Sycamore and Sweet Gum from WV. ).. I would love to see what the Bullet could do on them some day. I am not bragging.
