The original actor who played Mark (David Scarboro) left because the show wanted to have Mark be a racist, and he refused to do a scene where he berates Kelvin in a racist rant, so EE fired him. Then the UK press hounded him, even when he was in a psychiatric hospital, so he left hospital and killed himself. Very very sad!
He was a stunningly good looking actor and very quiet and reserved.

Good choice for number one. I know many will argue the Den and Angie scene was better, but i was 6 years old, i watched this with my mum and we both found his breakdown and smashing up the place hilarious. (Yeah, she does share the same warped sense of humour as me and i suspect that's where i inherited it from lol)
I will say i am surprised you didn't include Angie's OD in there, but obviously it's your personal opinion which is fair enough. I'd also like to have seen the scene where Tony returns i think durin the Easter parade with a cut lip and it's implied he has dealt with the abusive guy his wife was living with.
I will admit i loved Andy's death, it gave me that shock feeling, in the same way i felt the previous year first seeing Annie murdered in Halloween, I was 6 and i 'd never seen a soap character die before, only people in films, god i loved that.
Really interested to see you do a countdown for 2019, as I think that's the best year of EE so far!

No. He was tormented by the media.
1986 belonged to Den & Angie. I don’t think Corrie could compete with EastEnders in 1986, even with the Rovers fire and Kevin & Sally’s wedding. Jan had been a voice on the phone for so long, so we were as intrigued as Angie to see what she was like, which led to some marvellous set pieces. Andy & Debs were irritating, Andy was nice but just eye candy for the ladies, even appearing with his top off a few times, remember his fling with Angie then Den squirted the soda siphon down his pants on Halloween night 😂 RIP Ross 😢 All good choices, but I’d have included Angie’s overdose following that fantastic showdown with Jan in the Vic kitchen, The Banned performing Something Outta Nothing, and I’d have put Den & Angie’s two hander at #1. Best episode ever, electrifying acting and some great lines. Cos I hung on like a bloody limpet, you b*st*rd! That blue fluffy dressing gown lol.
