Baroque rules. Perfectly performed...sweet violin, crying, so much speaking. Touching heart and mind. Irresistible...
I admire those of whom find the Baroque works particularly to their liking. The almost sterile sounding Violins... the walking, yet issued-in-octaves bass lines, the somewhat predictable chordal structure...I must be honest and say while I do enjoy the Baroque, I cannot shake away the sounds of Wagner, Richard Strauss, Rachmaninoff, Ravel. A friend of mine holds your same opinion while myself always argues for the epic walls of sounds and the succeeding eras of Musical styles...just a nonchalant observance here, from one Classical lover to another. Peace to you!

Vivaldi is unique in the sense his music is displayed, so much joy accompanied by all the troubles of life.But with a touch of tenderness.Like a cup of coffee with a delicate layer of cream.
So much can be said about Vivaldi's partitions but one thing always come along is his flamboyance.

The concertos are for violin, strings, and basso continuo; some require extra soloists, such as second violin, cello solo, organ, or harpsichord.

I've never thought Opus IV as good as III, VIII, or IX but this is making me change my mind. I have always heard it with organ continuo which becomes intrusive afte a while. The more orthodox continuo works much better and these pieces are wildly imaginative.
What do people think of changing the order of the concertos? Vivaldi ordered them major, minor, major, minor etc.
These performances are so good I don't really mind but it would be nice to hear them in the order Vivaldi intended. if anyone has a specific justification, I would love to hear it.
