One thing i can to this video is that you will need to readjust your dies just a bit as the lock n load die raises your die up on the press ever so slightly. Cant remember off and how much it was on my 5.56 rounds but they were just a bit longer than when i had the die just threaded into the press itself. But this lock n load system is the way to go 100%. Awesome video and i hope my comment may help.
Thanks for the video. You dismissed a misconception that I about the bushings. I thought that once they were in, only Hornady dies worked with them. I'll be getting a set of Quick Lock Bushings.
I prefer the screw in. The bushing goes bad and is not accurate enough for precision loading. Tried 3 sets of dies from lee to redding and its never the same headspace. But on a cheap lee they all work and keep a constant headspace.
I'm a Lee man myself, been using a Lee since I was 16 years old and I'm 70 now, that being said a rock chucker is built like a tank and I wouldn't have no problem owning one. When you stuck that case in the press I thought man I hope he lubed that sucker, it wasn't until you did the close up that I saw the lube on your fingers.. getting a stuck case out of a die is no fun, been there done that.. you might want to mention that to beginners, about the lube on cases with a neck.
All my dies have lock rings so they keep their adjustments when removed.. I don't have to mess with those silly bushings that actually do nothing. You might try using lock rings, they work real good. Oh, this is an old vid, never mind.
I have been having JIUJITSU2000 withdraws brother!!! You taught me how to reload and I am damn happy to see you getting set up in your new house and I cant wait to see the new upcoming reloading and casting videos!!!! God bless!!!
Enjoy your videos. Starting to gear up for reloading and think you have some of the best how to"s on loading so far. Striving for quality not quantity and I like your way of doing things Sir, thank you. Subscribed.
JIUJITSU2000 thanks I need a blessing something bad happen a hour ago. No fun this weekend gonna spend my birthday home. Prob Danielle's sad so I'm sad. If I could get that far o would but ain't gonna be getting out of my drive away for another month looks like. But thanks for the offer it's means alot. God bless
Just getting interested in reloading....great ideas for what I need...narrowed it down to RCBS Rock Chucker....trying to keep the $$$ down a bit but not going "cheap"....
I like the Hornady die change system, however, it would be better if the press adapter had some wrench flats. Everytime I have to remove a die from the die adapter I end up unthreading the press adapter. With no wrench flats I am reluctant to use channel lock pliers to tighten it as I may not be able to remove it later without crushing it. The press adapter is pretty thin walled.
The only problem I have had with the L&L bushings, is the dies no longer fit in their carrying cases. And you'll want to upgrade your O-rings to a thicker O-ring for a tighter fit.
now that you have that work bench for a few years.would you change anything ? i just built a 10x16 work shop moving out of my 30 year old work shop need some ideas for a top of a workshop bench
Can't wait till you figure out how to get that lock and load off of that die after tightening it up that tight...... What I did is double nutted the die and tightened the adapter into the press and then took the double nuts off......
...I recently did the same - but with a Lee adapter - and for the same reason - maintaining the setting of the dies between stages and between caliber changes...do you know if they can be swapped between presses (i.e. set on the Rockchucker and transferred to a Dillon or Lee progressive press)??? I would imagine so since the dies index off the ram in every instance...
This works if you reload for a single cartridge, generally a rifle cartridge and possibly a single bullet. I don't see how it would work with the multiple handgun types, such as 38 Spec./357Mag/357 Max, or 40 S&W/10mm, and so on. Will you need multiple die sets as the cases are different lengths?
I honestly couldn't get rid of it. I have one of those low end Lee presses I use for decapping so I'm good, but I sure like the Hornady and RCBS stuff.
Hey sorry for the comment on the old video but how did this set up end up working out for you? Looking to get into reloading and I think this might be what sways me toward just a single stage as opposed to turret
i have been following you for years. question with all my RCBS, Lee dies how much are the bushings once i buy the kit ? i mean it only has 3 bushings with the kit. thanks my friend.
Let me see if I've got this. In the event I handload for twenty or more different calibers I have to buy twenty or more of the Hornady lock and load bushings. Otherwise, I have to switch bushings between dies. In which case I am right back where I started with having to readjust settings just like I have been doing for the past thirty years with my RCBS Rock Chucker press. There goes any advantage I'm able to see.😕
It's similar to changing the head on say, a Dillon press. A bushing for each die for each caliber. So 2-3-4 depending on what you do, right? So these bushings aren't terribly expensive. If you do the same load for a caliber every time, you have your stuff preset and it saves you time.
So i did what you reccomend not to do with taking out the rcbs bushing to replace it with the conversion bushing. So long story short need some advice o n how to get this darn bushing out.
That’s pretty bad ass. Once I start loading more than one caliber, I will be purchasing these as well! Great video!
You speak well and get straight to the point. I enjoyed your video clip. Thank you Harold
Yes , it's very helpful and this way I don't have a need for a progressive press. When I can change dies very fast. Thank's.

Can't wait to see more reloading videos. I leaned how to reload by watching your early videos. Glad to see you making videos like this again.

Just got my hornaday lock n load bushings and just put it on my rock chucker and dies and awesome video and happy holidays

When you say bushing..... it just does it for me
After you install the Hornady equipment, you need to paint your RCBS press red. LOL!! Thank you very much. I have to get that now!
Enjoy your videos. Starting to gear up for reloading and think you have some of the best how to"s on loading so far. Striving for quality not quantity and I like your way of doing things Sir, thank you. Subscribed.

Lee presses have a similar system

It sure is nice to see you getting back to reloading. I bet you have had the itch to get back to it for awhile now as well.
+Chris Castagner I've been patiently waiting. Thank you!
Happy your back.
+HammeringHank100 Thanks!!

Nice video. I can see me spending more money
Me too.

Hope you will show more about reloading!!! Thank!!!
+dave althoff for sure! :-)

I've looked at those in the past and thought about getting one and selling my Dillon 550B for as little as I reload anymore.
+Skip Tracer I couldn't imagine getting rid of my 550
I honestly couldn't get rid of it. I have one of those low end Lee presses I use for decapping so I'm good, but I sure like the Hornady and RCBS stuff.
What are your thoughts on using the bushing kit compared to the sure-loc lock rings?
Hey sorry for the comment on the old video but how did this set up end up working out for you? Looking to get into reloading and I think this might be what sways me toward just a single stage as opposed to turret
This set up works fantastic

How many presses u have cause i saw you do a video a while back on the Lee challenger press.
pretty cool. I like your logo in the background. was it water jet or lazer cut?
+Jason Williams thank you brotha! I think it was a plasma cutter
How about get some hornady lock rings instead of bushings?
No Loctite on the bushing adapter that stays in the press?
👍
is got for dies LEE ? GRazie
Does anyone know if the Hornady Lock N Load system will work on an RCBS Partner?
Freudian slip
Channelocks?! Ugh
I’ve information. Unfortunately you lost credibility and me when you started hacking and not using the right tool for the job.
