  • In this informative post script to the medal series, Mark Smith shows how the discovery of a group of medals is not as straightforward as might first appear - for example the documents that add value to any collection, even the box itself, and the contents that could include vital clues from a musket ball that wounded to the cigarette case that saved a life.

When my father gave me his WW2 medals they were still in the box that they were issued to him in. Astonishingly, my Northern Ireland and 1982 Falklands medals came in identical boxes. Nothing has changed.

Fascinating. Sadly there are NO names on the medals OR the boxes of Jubilee medals that we received in the Ambulance service. I guess the same will be for the Kings Coronation Medal when it finally arrives
