I was born in Japan and this is one of the few Japan travel videos I've seen that captures what being there feels like to me. Folks show me their travel photos full of nice, traditional hotels or big sashimi platters, but old vending machines next to dusty shops full of very specific merchandise is the real deal. thats ALWAYS the thing about trips though!! I only ever take road trips specifically for this reason. Otherwise, you never get to see the not-so-glamorous side which is even more charming. I imagine this would be especially true in eastern countries, where a western boy like myself could be blown away by every single culture difference. I've only ever been to other states in the US, but one day I hope to take road trips in every country.

Side note: the "milk shake" isn't what most people think of as a milk shake, but a mix of milk, egg, and sugar, and is sometimes served warm! It's ミルクセーキ, while the "American style" drink is usually ミルクシェイク.
