I was there. Best show ever
......Finally, funk is back! And the vocoder...bliss!
Long live Chromeo!
You could argue that they don't sound as good live, but I don't think anyone can argue that both them and the crowd aren't having fun. And if both the crowd and the band was pumped while performing, that's all that really matters in my opinion
Tyrannosaurus Chexmix True say... but I kinda wish they rolled with a band, at least a drumer and keyboardist when preforming live... Like Miami Horror. Their production is way too much for two people alone to do comfortably. That may be why they don't sound as nice. The vocals are raw, but the track still has high production quality which is kindof odd.
+Prof. Potato no way... Chromeo has always been a duo and will stay being a duo... its what makes it so authentic... its like macklemore and ryan lewis... you cant put a middle man in such an epic duo... and their concerts are hype and its only them two...
You can absolutely be a duo with a live band. Chromeo's idols, Hall & Oates, are an example of this.
Ive seen them live a few times and this recording doesnt do it justice. They sound fantastic live.
I was there :D
this is the Real "Future Funk"
It's called Nu funk/Nu disco
God damn, that voicebox with delay is pure sex.
Great channel Converse!
P-Thugg needs his own verses
Nice
...didn't know two notes could throw the whole song off. Where's that continual bass fill in this version?
What did the guy with the beard use to make his voice sound like that?
Vocoder
Ricardo GF A Vocoder takes a signal from a microphone and processes it through another source (usually a keyboard).
A Talkbox projects a sound into the performers mouth and he shapes the signal with his lips, etc.
That tube in his mouth isn't connected to a tasty beverage, the sound you hear is playing through it.
Now, if you were to see me playing with a tube in my mouth, you can guarantee that it is connected to a tasty beverage, usually a whiskey watered down with Coke.
+averyellis This dude's right, it is a talkbox, and I don't think you're going to get a better explanation than that. Enjoy your tasty beverage, brother.
