After the years, on top of every heart-wrenching note and lyric that puts this song together, I still find the lack of video/visuals so compelling.. No need for them, as the album art points out something so beautiful sprouting from so clearly dangerous. The entire Foxglove plant is poisonous, and when ingested will cause failure of the heart, among other things, but when refined and controlled is used to save many lives from fatal heart failure. We're not just damaged goods, but instead the pink Foxglove flower, symbolizing love, and the process of healing through grief, sadness, trauma; perhaps a broken heart.
Things aren't usually as they seem, and with time and effort even some of the worst things can be refined into something that saves a life, or even many. Remember this Album art and this music next time you pass unjust judgement upon someone - including yourselves. We all have something beautiful to offer. Much love.

This is a cathartic song. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of remorse and despair that results from truly heartfelt and honest confession where everything is laid bare and almost all the walls are shattered, the human spirit is truly espoused to be elevated during such states of essence and existence, really close to a state of nirvana indeed. The only walls left to be shattered is not dependent on the one who possesses the wall, but the one who the wall is put up for/against.

I love how Flume songs have these unique sounds and the rhythm of the beats is so unusual. But it all ties together so well somehow. Flume is a genius honestly.

Reading the lyrics, i think it’s about the speaker in the song murdering his ex for only staying with him for a short while (weekend). That may explain the Erie vocals coming and going in the background. Maybe the line, “my love found a home under the water” is a double entendre, it’s not only his emotional love metaphorically underwater; but literally his love (ex-partner). Let me know if you have further ideas!

Syntax IND yeah if it is what I suspect, you’re right they do match incredibly, there’s almost 2 voices in this song with how brilliantly it was produced. I wish flume was a bit edgy-er, skin was awfully basic in terms of lyrics. It was still one of the best albums of 2016 tho.

I have been listening to this song for the past year now trying to conjure the words to express my gratitude. Thank you Flume and Moses Sumney for this, I have never found something that takes me back to a time when I could feel. You make tears well in my eyes which hasn't happened in over eight years. You take me to a place where I feel I am one with him again. By him I mean my father, I lost him almost twelve years back to suicide. The initial beat is like my constant state in life, repetitive, numb, and solemn sounding. The vocals open and state "our love was a weekend on the water" "silly me for thinking you would want me longer". I hear these words and ask myself and him why, why would it be okay to damage me and us (my family) like this.
"Tis the season for a slaughter" sends chills down my spine, its like I am back at the night when the police came to the door asking for my mom.
"Ghosts arrive the moment they want there's no solemn around. Was it a mistake are you sorry right now. If I had it all my way I'd be with you right now. Haunted by a memory, guess I'm with you right now."
As someone who struggles to keep afloat in this world I often hear those last words "If I had it all my way Id be with you right now" I wish I could let go and go see him again, but then it states "haunted by a memory guess i'm with you right now" Which makes me regret my selfish thoughts and makes me recognize the feelings I am having. The hurt, loneliness, abandonment, but lastly LOVE. Thank you for this, it keeps me alive and I listen to it easily once a day. Thank you Moses and Flume for making me feel something I no longer can't.
