HELLO! If you like my videos and would like to help me somehow please read!
Recently my positive organ had to suffer some upgrades and the wind blower does not work anymore for it. Unfortunately my instrument is dead until i have a new blower but it is very expensive, not manufactured in Brazil and worst, even more inaccessible now because of Brazil economic situation and high currency devaluation.
ANY help is welcome if you could! I´ve started a crowdfunding

--I first heard this piece about 65 years or so ago played by the famous Wanda Landowska ! Thank you for this performance
You are not only an exceptionally talented musician, you have the sweetest sense of humor. So enjoy your work; thank you so much.
+James Frase-White Thank you very much my friend! All the best from Rio :)
Hola me a gustado esta cosa pero ¿que es?
This piece seems so ahead of its time. It's enchanted me ever since I first heard it.
Thank you very much!
This is my favorite piece by Couperin..
This is my favourite rendition of this piece. You put so much passion and enthusiasm into it compared with other people's performances.
+Thomas McBride Thank you Thomas. Happy you enjoyed my version. Best regards
Eduardo: I wish I could write my comment in French to express my admiration for your performance of one of my top 3 favorite musical pieces of all time, Les Barricades Mysterieuses. I have been listening to performances of this piece for the past 38 years (harpsichord, piano, guitar, theorbo) and yours is certainly one of the best... I'll simply say, Merci!
Thank you very much my friend! I´m really happy you like my version :) All the best
BRAVO on a performance well done!! The rallentandos are executed exactly where needed. There are so many subtle nuances to this composition that you bring to life with your excellent performance. People who criticize this negatively do not understand the nature of the harpsichord, nor the artistry involved. It is clear that you have mastered your instrument!!
Thank you very much! Happy you like it :)
Impeccable playing and taste. Well done!
Thank you very much
One of the best interpretations I ever heard ! Bravo !
this bumps hard in the whip
seriously tho
Yuhhh
Lovely. Just the right tempo.
oh what a lovely, tasteful interpretation! I really dislike it when this piece is played too fast, you really nailed the tempo here =)
Happy you like it!
Ladies Of The Court - A fantasy tabletop role-playing game by Early Music in a different way ;)
Bravo pour votre belle interprétation. Et quelle vidéo somptueuse ! MERCI
Your playing is very warm and generous. I can just imagine these ladies fluttering their eyelashes and flirting but secretly plotting and scheming; there is such humour in the music. Your project is wonderful. I love these videos!
+kats555 Thank you very much for your feedback! I´m really happy you enjoy it :) All the best from Rio, Ed
Such an incredibly beautiful rendition - thank you.
+zephyr61 Thank you for enjoying! :)
Maravilhoso!
Criatividade incrível!
Música excelente!
Grande conhecedor da Música Antiga.
Beijo tia! Obrigado!
Amazing performance: you show great taste in playing and also on choosing the right -for me, at least tempo. Too often have I heard this piece played too fast in a futile attempt to show virtuoso skills that only succeeds in killing the charm and mystery of this piece.
The animations will definitely not win the Oscar against the guys in ILM or WETA, but they are certainly a plus, and while obviously made with limited means, show good aesthetic sense. The result is really worth the effort.
In a short, your videos help make this world a better place, and that is not something many people can claim. I would like to encourage you -rather egoistically, I admit- to keep producing these little gems you give us for our delight.
Oh, yes I almost forget: THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Muse Thank you very much dear .... ? for your sincer words :) It´s a great incentive to keep uploading more videos! My best wishes from Rio, Ed
The animations are poor, because they mix all sorts of art periods--from an art historian
You are ABSOLUTELY correct about the tempo. In this performance, one is able to hear all of the articulation and chordal nuances that make this piece come to life. This happens to be one of my favorite compositions by Couperin... having first heard it back in 1970.
Que bien
Köszönöm Eduardo a gyönyörű zenét és előadást! Hallgatásakor jó nézni a "misztikus" képeket a nem "hisztérikus" hölgyekkel!
Thank you very much! >:)
Thanks for enjoying and also for your feedback! Regards
Oh so lovely!
Glad you like it!
Beautiful. My husband plays this on the spinnet.Lovely to find this uploaded.
+funkyfriesan Wonderful! Best regards from Rio
C'est fantastique, incroyable.
What an extraordinary idea.
I love it.
Happy you like it! Best, Ed
Belle interprétation! Bravo à toi!
I was first exposed to this piece when I saw you had favorited a video of it. I fell in love with it rather quickly. Seeing you perform it now has just made me so content. Also, amusing animation.
Sublime music beautifully played. Thank you!
Muniini Mulera Thank you for enjoying :)!
Very beautifully done! I agree with earlier comments regarding the tempos you use and the passion in your interpretations. As I have observed previously, you have a keen grasp of the sense of these "early music" genres. Please keep posting so we may continue to enjoy your outstanding work!
Hello! Thank your for your words!
Merci, mon ami. Excellent!
The Terry Gilliam-style animation is amusing, but I was waiting for the big foot to come down on les mademoiselles at the end. But oddly enough, the court ladies are very appropriate, as I just learned what “Les Barricades Mystérieuses” actually refers to: it means "the eyelashes of a lady", in the parlance of the court of Versailles.
Or it could be the nearly inpenetrable and copious undergarments worn by women during this period
OR
it could be a reference to the music itself...the pauses in the melody barricading the natural and expected flow of rhythm and melody...
If it referred to the undergarments, Couperin would have titled the piece "Les Barricades Fatiguantes".
As for the music, the pauses are perfectly expected; it's typical of harpsichord playing, in which any sostenuto is impossible, unlike with a piano.
There is not scholarly consensus on the meaning behind the title. Another interpretation is that it refers to the way (if you look at the music) the different suspended voices are in a way barricades to each other's harmonies, instead of simply being a bass line and a melodic treble line.
Great performance and amusing video! Thank you.
Thank you Margarita!
Bellísimo . Bravo Couperin !!
Thank you!
Thank you for all your words! English isn´t problem :)
I´ve finish Master´s project about figured bass methods. Now im thinking about a good theme fore a Ph.D thesis. I just wonder how can i link this kind of work with a thesis.
Well, about the time depends a lot. Usually i start it in a day and finish in the other. This because i like to "fresh my mind" for mixing and video. In the truth, the recording time isn´t so much but the editing, mixing and filming takes more time. Thank you
Love the performance and the video too!
Excellent! Just how I imagine this would have sounded when played by the composer himself. Very well played!
Thank you for this honour comment :) Best wishes from Rio
The Velasquez' girls, Marie Antoniette et La Pompadour flouting in the air... I loved it simply. Besides, you play very well. A marvellous performance. I don't know musical structure, but I know its history and what you call Early Music is what give me a real pleasure. Vive Couperin, Monsieur Lully, Rameau, Leclair, Francoeur and Mr. Purcell! Thanks!
Thank you so much for this
Thank you! My pleasure!
très beau morceau, fort bien joué; très beau petit film d'animation aussi ! on s'y croirait !
Merci beaucoup!!!
Lovely harpsichord & enchanting images, great stuff! x$
It's really a beautiful performance !
Thank you Smith! Im glad you like it!
;)
Thank you Antônio! Im glad you could enjoy this experiment :) Best wishes
I used to play this piece by another performer on my classical music show on Maine Public Radio...Yours was the very best I found on the internet,
and I loved the gliding ladies in your video!
They might seem funny at first, but I found it poignant that as the last chord faded away, the ladies vanished as well, leaving us nothing but the buildings and gardens they once were alive in.
I am subscribing to your videos!
Are you still in Rio? And is it as insane there as I suspect it must be with the Olympic games coming up?
@ThomasYorkshire Thank you Thomas. Im glad you enjoyed! I didn´t remember i had saved this on my favorites but u r right, i´ve checked. Rousset´s recording sounds amazing, maybe if i had listened him before i didn´t wanted to record this piece now but i´m satisfacted with my result =P Kind Regards!
mooie uitvoering op een perfect tempo en volledig in de tijdsgeest
Thank you!!!! Very kind =) Regards from Brazil!
=P This was just a try (as all my videos. sometimes we get it, sometimes not :). I wish i could do better but i wasn´t familiarized with sony vegas yet. Regards and thanks for opinion :)

trop mignon! j'adore
+Lisa Outrequin Merci Lisa!
i love everything about this
thank you!
Beautifully performed, and the multiple camera angles thing was interesting, as well. =3
경쾌함. 활기참. 속도감. 👍
Gorgeous,........!!
I want a dress like that! I don't know how I'd fit in my wheelchair with that on though.
Haha It's still you !! I was looking for this amazing peace from Couperin and the cover is by you and I love it ! ;)
Thank you Jeanne! :)
Marvelous!
Wow!!! loved the performance!!! The moving characters look like the Hogwarts ghosts... lol
I've never heard a harpsichord with so much bass! A strange experience, I must say.
Thank you! :)
love it
bien joué ! clin d'oeil de Versailles ! merci
+Arthur Rimbaud Merci Arthur!
Excepcional!!!
Lovely!
Thank you Ana
Beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing! / Quam pulchra est! Nihil mutaverim!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful playing. Also, this might be the best baroque music video I've ever seen.
Thank you Miguel!
Very Impressive! I would love if you could do the premiere suite.
Cara, que música excelente! Bom trabalho!
Wonderful special effects of Ghosts.
Thank you very much!
Perfect. Lovely music. Plus, very funny. 😅
Thank you! :)
Mark Helprin's Paris in the Present Tense brought me here. I'm glad I came.
I´m happy you came! Thank you
So Beautiful...
Marc Lenaerts Thank you Marc! Couperin music is gorgeous indeed :)
You are welcome :), all deeply meant.
im glad you like it! thanks
Very nice. I cringe when this piece is played on the piano, it just sounds so much better on the Harpsichord! :)
Thank you Jacoby. I prefer the harpsichord version like you :)
The piano is a PERCUSSION instrument, where the strings are hit with hammers. The harpsichord is a STRING instrument whose strings are plucked in a manner similar to those of the guitar; that is why harpsichord music sounds so nice on the guitar.
Juan Jose Morales agreed. I play piano but harpsichord, much like guitar, is so beautiful.
Bravo Eduardo! Молодец! Хорошо придумал.
Preciosa, bravo.
Gracias!
gorgeous.
fisherroastedpeanut Thank you!
Early Music in a different way ;) I like it that it's a semi-tone lower so it sounds new and refreshed ;)
You are a genius!
Very kind! Thanks!
Couperin schreibt was ganz Anderes diesem Stück zu als Legende.

Troppo bravo! Di pi non si può dire.
Grazie!
01:46 reminds me on a Pac-Man chase... :D
@piepsi1 Agreed man!
👏👏👏
Thank you Alice!
Creepy music masterpiece and creepy video.
:) All the best
Now I can't not imagine people in XVIII century actually moving like that, sliding unnaturally on the floor. It's hilarious!
Wonderful music, though.
Nicely rendered...maintained the flow and tempo of the piece without plodding along with too many false delays...;-))
Thank you Gary! :) Best regards
You're the only one that comes close to playing correctly. Stops and starts are the point of the song, not the fluidity of the others.
Glad you enjoyed my version
I assume it was more accurate, never read the music, but feel the meaning.
I think this piece should be played quite fast. After all, it’s marked “ vite” which is French for “ lively.”
@ThomasYorkshire And I forgot to mention, perfect tempo.
Bravo! Bravo! Apologies, I speak not Portuguese. I wonder, would you tell me about how long you estimate this project took you, in hours? Between recording the audio, and editing the video, from start to finish?
Your works on this channel- video editing, multi-instrument performances of exquisite Baroque music- faithful and inspiring performances all- should be more than enough to earn a Master's degree....Perhaps even enough to qualify as a thesis project for Ph.D.
Would you enlighten?
The Queen of Spain Maria Teresa and the Princess of Spain Margarita. -:).
Hahaha everything is possible here =P
so much like!!!
Thank you!
The moving collages I dont quite fathom?
Great performance! Bravo!
And by the way, could you provide some information on the harpsichord you played? Sounds like a Dulcken style copy to me...
Thank you! This one is von Nagel schola model. I think it does not follow an exact copy model. Best!
Excellent. Mais où sont les barricades ?
É difícil não gostar de uma interpretação e edição de Eduardo Antonello.
+marcos aquino Obrigado Marcos!
This is a beautiful performance, indeed! What is the instrument? It appears to be a pretty modest one, but boy does it sound great in this recording!
Por favor, ven a Italia a hacer un concierto XD
