Oh hell NO!
Fist shot was low hitting the right fore leg hence him limping
Being ex military, you HAVE TO remember that a bullet or round travels in an arc even down hill
So point of aim even at 315yds has to be above the point of aim
Add in the high temperature and the bullet will fly higher because there is NO resistance due to thin air

Assuming an angle of 25° the cosine is 90 making the adjustment from 315m to 285m... so like 2/10 of a mil... the difference at 300m would not be noticeable. At least not enough to have made a difference. That shot wouldn't have been any better. It could have been cleaner, absolutely. But I personally think shooter fundamentals play a way larger role in this instance.
