    Make sure you know where your ODP is for each runway if you can't do a visual climb

    Awesome Job! Congratulations! Getting your IFR is a big deal and you got it done. I still make mistakes after 10 flying IFR. Great 1st flight

    I have flown IFR KPOU to KBGM over the mountains north of Orange County. I usually climb through the layer to VFR on top and when you get close to KBGM you get descended through the layer and go VFR to the airport. They have an ILS and RNAV to both approach ends of the long runway. Only bad part is there is nothing close to the airport, like food or a good resting spot. I usually get picked up by family and go to lunch then head back out.

    Can’t practice too much! Nice job! Be nice when your Dynon AP is installed especially during real IMC. Keep up the great work!
    PS - Any update to the AP approval?

    I am staying away from the north east, you Yankees talk fast.
    I can’t wait to get my Arrow back with Dynon stuff installed.

    Great job Chris! It was fun and interesting to watch. I’m thinking about getting my rating as well. It would be really good for me because I’m based in the Pacific Northwest.

    Congratulations. IFR is a whole new level of flying and competence. Use it as a way to get ya out of a cloud layer or stratus for awhile.....Don't take on anything heavy until ya really understand the risks and what the plane can handle....Our planes don't handle ice......just my thoughts.....

    Way to go! I noticed your two airspeed indicators differ by 10 knots??

    • @PilotFun101
      @PilotFun101  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks. Yes. The back up is in MPH and the PFD is in knots. I didn’t chance the back up yet to knots. I use it as a reference for now. I been flying MPH for years.

    All the flight schools in my area want $17k for a private pilot. That does include fancy stuff like simulators, bose headset and books.....but still. I see everyone getting their private for less than $10k. Should I look elsewhere? Maybe travel to some other state to get it?

    • @PilotFun101
      @PilotFun101  Před 3 lety +2

      17k is way too high! Definitely shop around or try and find a third party flight instructor that’s not part of a flight school.

    Hi, thanks for posting your videos. I recently got my IFR rating and have the Dynon HDX and IFD 440 in my Long-EZ. Haven't taken it into IMC yet, because I'm still learning how to operate it all efficiently. Which GoPro are you using? I'm trying to set up a camera like you have viewing your panel for the back seater CFI to view my HDX and I cannot get near the resolution you show in this video (I have a Hero8 Black), even though I have it set on 4K. Do you have any advice?

    • @PilotFun101
      @PilotFun101  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks and congratulations on your IFR. It will open so many more windows and you won’t get stuck or cancel trips. I use the 7’s and 8’s. I don’t have it set to 4k. Try tuning that off. Most computer monitors are not 4k anyway. Other then that your GoPro should work recording the HDX.

      @@PilotFun101, thanks so much. I appreciate the feedback on your GoPro setup. I will try to experiment with some mounting options. Thanks again, and fly safe.

    Given the continued Dynon AP delays for the Mooney, are you considering another option or waiting them out?

    • @PilotFun101
      @PilotFun101  Před 2 lety +2

      Right now I am waiting it out. Hoping soon. If not I have to make a decision at that time. I love the SkyView but need AP
