My office is in Salt Lake, Sec V, Kolkata..we've got several companies in the same building, last week we've received a message from the facility manager asking us to report any illegal activities related to online scam and this one was from local cyber crime cell. “Pig Butchering” is a new term I’ve never heard of. It’s both impressive and scary how creative these scammers are getting.

It’s been around for a few years now in Chinese language media. It’s the term for such romance scam targeting both middle class women and men, usually asking them to invest in gambling websites after building a relationship with them.

Whenever someone inquires about my nationality, I simply respond that I'm British because fools like this ruin our reputation and con other Indians as well! I just love seeing how smart they're getting, but for people that watch the channel, kind of know how to spot the scams. I love seeing these scams and have been on the receiving end of some and are able to catch on almost instantly

As someone from South East Asia, this hits close to home. The past few years have news of people from neighbouring countries such as China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam travelling to Myanmar, Cambodia amongst other places to take up jobs like what you described only to find out they are scams and they were trapped with no easy way of escape. Then they would be forced to scam other people against their will.

But all of these scam companies are created by Chinese,there was a chinese movie recently aired and was successful 'No More Bets' who tell the same stories , Cambodians were angry cuz in the movie Chinese didn't take any responsibility and made look like combodian are the one setting those companies ,the movie even ban airing in Cambodia
@@fatisummer9106 that's my one issue with the movie. It's also partly a CCP Propaganda or at least the filmmakers are not allowed to make the CCP or China look bad since it's a Chinese production after all. The movie completely avoids showing how heavily involved China is in these scams.

I have the worst funniest story! They wrote me asking about our “uncle” and I sent funeral pictures and hospital pictures and all she cared about is me getting her inheritance 😂

This happened to me like 2-3 months ago where this "lady" named Tina asking if my number was someone else and I told "her" that "she" got the wrong number and stated that was from Singapore and now living in NY.
Somehow within that 30 minutes of interacting with "her", I gave her one of those Grabify link and I tracked her down in Cambodia and called her out that she's lying and she said "Why should I lie to you? I don't have a reason to lie to you."
I also got messaged by a girl named Tina. But she said she was from San Francisco. It's the same person who scammed my friend.

This information is better than the news. There should be a news program that’s only about scams, the most recent victims and scammer arrests.
I used to get a lot of these messages while living in China. At the time I was learning Chinese, so I used those scammers to improve my mandarin, in both speaking,reading and writing.
This one girl wrote me that her grandmother was sick, I told her that I needed to get to know her more before I sent her money.

I never thought I would feel so bad and want to help scammers. Sad story what happens behind the scenes.
They’re not “scammers” in the traditional sense. CNN has a story on their front page about this. One of the men who was kidnapped into this spoke to CNN and said he thought he was taking a job doing something else, but was held against his will in these compounds. He managed to get out, but so many others are behind. He said if they don’t make enough money, they’re physically beaten into submission. How we can help? Don’t engage with the text message. At all. On Reddit, on the ScamBait subreddit, thousands of people share their conversations with these scammers. We think wasting their time is fun. But for those who were kidnapped and forced into this, it’s literally a matter of life or death. We can help by not engaging.
I feel bad for actual scammers as well and would like them to stop being idiots and do something useful with their lives.

Holy crap I just got a text message from someone using this same persons pictures shortly after watching this video. Crazy! I just sent them this video in reply and haven’t got a response back 😂.
I remember one guy tried to lure me into a pig butchering scam on discord and ended up failing miserably because they were using an image of a thai pop idol a friend of mine liked (i forget which one but it was super obvious it was her).
Next time, you should try pretending your a big fan of the person they're impersonating and see if that spooks them!
[repost] I too once fell for a dating scam. a pretty girl from the Philippines tried to scam me on the phone through a popular dating app taken to WhatsApp for "the girlfriend experience." promising compliments, love, sex, parties, nights out (the works.) she ended up stealing $150 worth from me. I got revenge by reporting her account to pay-pal which got her banned and the money partly recovered. Turns out she was a "pseudo-account." (an account that uses a real person but has more than one user on it.) Basically her and her actual live-in boyfriend was dope-fiends that would use her accounts to laundry stolen money to her dating agency pimp. These romance scammers always sell you the dream of perfect love, or guilt free hook ups, or returned love, returned investments while toying with your feelings to take money from their victims. "I promise I'll call later, just send me another money load for data." "If you invest this crypto - I'll get a plane ticket to see you." blah blah blah. But really, they are con-artists who manipulate anyone just to have access to more money. Remember this, with real love, is always free because true love is unconditional. It does not cost a thing for a hug or kiss, it doesn't cost a thing to feel loved being appreciated. It feels human.
my advice to anyone who stumbles upon this reading it, is if you have to pay for it then you lost your money.
