That statement is correct. Jimmy did just that. His players can attest to that. After his Cowboys won their first SB he was much tougher on them. It was hard enough to win one but to repeat is even harder. He treated them knowing there was more to them. They could get better. Thank you Jimmy for your years of coaching and sacrifices.

They loved him, but feared him at the same time. None of the players wanted Jimmy to yell at them so they just did whatever he said. That's actually been documented. What most people don't know is that Jimmy was wound tighter than an 8 day clock back then and he was under an enormous amount of pressure. His drinking habits thrown in and you got a recipe for problems. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. I loved Jimmy and wish things had gone differently. Glad to see he's finally getting his due.

You can still see why he was such a great great great coach and why after he retired, people by the likes of bill belichek went to him in florida to seek out his knowledge , so yes when you think about what the patriots did even , jimmy had a little part in that , I remember a interview he gave b4 they won there first superbowl when asked do you think if u stay healthy you’ll make the playoffs next season and jimmy told him , I don’t think , WE WILL be in the playoffs next season , I’m not doing the interview justice , but This is why troy has always been heartbroken about jimmy and Jerry’s egos, especially Jerry’s , in my opinion, because Troy knows -as do I , if those 2 stayed together, 94 nfc championship would of been won , not lost , they would of 3 peated, and they won the superbowl in 95 so that would of been AT LEAST 4 in a row , just like when leon BIG CAT lett, held the ball out in super bowl 27 , if he would of protected the ball , the cowboys would have the record for most points scored in a superbowl , that team I don’t care , was the best team of all time not by far , but was from top to bottom the deepest best team ever assembled , it hard to be upset about 52 points scored in a superbowl but that record would of been sweet and it really should of happened, jimmy was a great coach
