little thing that I found out recently, if you ult, the W, all ennemies inside the knock up range will be charmed towards you, pulling them in guaranteeing that they won't escape and will get knocked up

I love Rakan, his mobility allows for you to get in, pull off a huge amount of CC, and escape (given you aren't cc'ed as well). The video does not mention it, but the supports that I have trouble going up against the most are Thresh due to his hook, as he can grab you mid E, his flay which can cancel your w, and his ult which can render Rakan's ult pretty much useless if you are stuck inside the box. Other than that I do not enjoy laning against Morgana because her blackshield negates your knockup. My advice is to go colossus and max w (or e) first if your team excels in diving or you have an adc like MF or Lucian who can make use of your CC. Lucian can also dash to follow up in case you go on the enemy team from from a farther distance from Lucian. If the other bot lane has a lot of poke and diving becomes much riskier, I would go for maxing E and taking windspeakers. Generally, I do not get my Q or max it first against champions with hooks because your q requires you to walk up pretty close and within their hook range.
Locket is very nice in terms of extra shield when you go in to team fights and for helping save your adc or whoever is low.
Acorn Acrobat Rakan actually beats Thresh. Key to the matchup is to play as a disruptor rather than all-in. You want to stand forward and towards him in lane to minimize his hook oppurtunitt for your AD and use W and E to avoid the hook when thrown at you. In the event your AD gets hooked you want to either wait for the Thresh all in then E > 2man W or W under your AD to interrupt his 2nd hook cast to fly to your ad. Your lvl 6 outclasses his massively if you can bait hook prior to standard R > W
Morgana match up sucks though, recommend picking up a different support for it tbh

Lol, you don't need the skill of a challenger to know a good build for a champion. Runes, masteries and builds the guy game are all good so not following this guide would be really stupid as most players use very similar setups.
natedrak3 except he didn't talk at all about Rakan's op R into W setup. It's probably his best combo. A damn near unavoidable cc lock is broken. Plus, E to the frontline tank, R, flash, W is fucking insane. It covers like 2000 range in under 1 second if you're quick enough (and even MORE range if your adc is xayah and you e to her).

I like the Courage of the Colossus setup. It allows you to just jump in & give you that shield when you knock up or charm an enemy. Used the Windspeakers route since buying him & for some reason it didn't sit all that well in terms of my playstyle as I do enjoy being really aggressive in lane at times. Rakan just seems like an amazing support thus far & hopefully he jumps into Worlds this year.
Great vid! I like watching your game play videos, but I like your educational champion guides more. I recently picked up nocturne because of watching how you stomped face with him and I like to broaden my jungle champion list (especially with low ban rate, but secretly strong picks). Would you please make a nocturne educational video? I have already googled different builds, but I am interested in hearing your opinion about a thunder lords (dmg-burst) style vs. a fervor (attack speed-duelist) build. Also is he even viable as a bruiser? More specifically I mean building him like a titanic hydra or frozen mallet/ split pusher type of build and then using his ult to re-join the team in fights similar to shen.

Many people don't know about the stealth Q on Rakan.
Using Q then immediately follow up with W allows you to hide the Q animation, while going for a knock-up, sometimes.
I think Windspeaker is very good and because of we are going for that 0-18-12, building 1 or 2 AP items is so nice.
I also think that the Q is rather short but, if you build the CDR and Mana-regen items, you can always hide in the brush, W out Q instantly and E back. Very good healing and trading tac-tic.
Soooo maxing Q for huge heals, E for disengaging or helping the ADC and W just for trades and engage when have the kill potential.

If I'm playing very agressive, I like going support item then ROA and Protobelt. You can deal a sht ton of damage (easy protobelt thanks to the r - w combo) whil giving 300 - 400 shields to allies.
With the changes to support items, does Spellthief's work better with Rakan now? The movement speed boost seems to synergize well with his playstyle of jumping in and out of fights. Also his AP ratios are pretty good so it doesn't hurt to be able to build Eye of the Watchers instead for extra AP.
Yeah it's not bad and it's viable I really do like the coin on him though.
as someone who plays rakan a lot u have another build thats optional for massive scaling poke with coin supp item , lich bane , nashers tooth , ludins ekko , then 2 other situational items:: have used the scaling ap /ad passives on items to burst 3-4k dmg in under 5 seconds but u lack defense so diving is way more dangerous.
o usually go eye of oasis then redemption and full ap with murelo and hat etc cause both heals and shields stack with ap and like i can heal 1/3 of my adc health. I max W, Q and then E
I like to get athenes against a lot of magic dmg, what do you think about that?

Windseekers boosts heals too. So also his Q. I'm mast 7 and this is what I use. As a support your job is too keep people alive and courage is only good for keeping yourself alive and with an AoE heal and redemption in the Rakan item pool this makes windseekers and great Mastery to take. Also Iron Locket is wayyy better than Ardent censer
does anyone have any other major tips or tricks for him, i like him but im struggling to use him a fair amount of the time
Does anyone know if the mastery Runic Armor increases his passive shield also? I would assume it does but don't know for sure.

I got lvl 6 already with him but just wanted to see if there's anything that I don't know or haven't tried. I like supporting Ashe , xayah , draven and cait. I found vayne harder to support because his more of a late game champ. I'm not saying it's impossible. It's not just me . I also played against a vayne and rakan duo and they struggle lol. But that's my opinion. I've only lost like 5 games with rakan. I'm taking a break for now with him. Than going for lvl 7.
I've played Rakan quite much, evenn tho i'm not a high elo player I can tell windspeaker on him is not that good. Building a spirit visage or a redemption will do too... Colossus is way more helpful in teamfights and laning phase trading/engaging. And btw saw someone in the comments sayin' Blitz is a hard matchup, that s wrong. Blitz's Q has bigger cd than Rakan's W/E, so even If it's not a Xayah adc Rakan can get away with a pull quite easily. Hope this helps too over the video.. xd

You can actually use all of Rakan's abilities while in Ult and this is crazy cuz R and then using W&E or E then W is an 100% Knock-Up and a lot of Burst with an ADC that can follow

I wonder how would tear item do on this champ. I mean I heard he is very mana hungry, so tear can solve that for you and later if you make it to archangel... A lot of ap + shhield on your shields + ap on your shields sounds just delicious... ^_^ The problem is that you need a lot of def/mobility/health items so idk what you gonna sacrifice for the archangel staf slot...
tear is wasted on him, frostqueens,redemption,ardent censer, etc, they all give mana regen so no need for tear
I don't know... I mean there is a huge difference between tear and frostqueen... the first basically makes your mana infinite... allowing you to spam Q constantly... The items you mentioned are all excellent choice, but seraph's embrace basically enhances EVERYTHING you have... I don't think the 10% dmg increase from redemption can match the shield power from the ability power of seraph's embrace to be honest...

It's not about the damage... Ability power gives you more SHIELD power as well. :)

I've been testing out maxing Q first, using Ardent Sensor rush build into locket and Holy Grail. His heals and shielding early to mid game flourish beautifully after maxing E second. Downfall is your engage mobility has the diminishing return. I have a lot of fun with it though.
Rakan is my favorite champ.

Personally I prefer maxing Q over W or E since it has some great poke. I never take the coin over spelltheifs edge since the so given off the eye of watchers or ice queen is really nice to have for the shield and healing. After that I normally take knights vow to have the early armour followed by redemption then Locket. But that's my opinion
Soddyboy _ Q scales with lvl not point so maxing w or e is better. I tried maxing Q , wasn't worth it. I have not tried E tho.

But I must say, it does work pretty good!
I see rakan as one of those tanky supports who jump into battle and have your team follow up. Someone like Blitz, Thresh, or Leona. He is also someone good at body blocking since he can dash to an ally. Tanks have lots of disruption with CC and usually r in the front soaking up damage. If I ever buy Rakan, Im building him tank. Idc if he has shields.

Oh my goodness. Okay. Max Q first. Better sustain and it does 250 dmg when maxed. I don't know what Mast this guy is but as I've said before I'm mast 7 with 50K on Rakan. So idk where this guy thought maxing W would be good. I max Q then E because better sustain and better utility since your W is a knock up and is only a 1sec CC at every rank. But your Q's heal increases with level which means trading is way better as you can do dmg and heal your adc
Ranking up Q only increases the damage, not the heal, so it doesn't give you any more sustain. also, since it has limited range and is only single target, you will never do a significant amount of damage with it. This is why nobody maxes Q. You max E first, then W, then Q. i dont know if your trolling or what, but the fact that you are mast 7 means less then nothing...
I always max E than W and Q last I think it's better cause you get lower cooldown on E

+Toti Nassar haven't been able to play him a ton to know which ones are really hard. The only one I know for sure that's annoying is Zyra and Alistair since he can deal with your w easily.

SoulOfTheLostWarrior lol nah I would usually juke blitz by dashing to my adc and if he were to grab me I'll w to the adc and hopefully if my adc follows up I'll dash to her to be safe. But blitz does do a lot of dmg so playing safe is good.

Bad guide - only good tip was the mastery pages.
Agreed, he should've at least covered that both his dash abilities work with his ult and R->W is an extremely powerful AoE charm into knockup that's near instant and chains almost perfectly into each other (you do lose a bit of the charm CC duration into the knockup at later ranks, but it's worth the trade off for an almost unavoidable CC dash).

Rakans heal scales with level not with points invested in q. So i think maxing q first makes very less sense. I like maxing my w out first and q last.
