I’m not aggressive and I’m mostly introverted, I’m feeling for Barb. That environment would have been hard for me. How can we change society where the Nice people win? Lol
I know you wrote LOL at the end, but I’ve really been thinking about the sentiment you expressed lately. Why does it seem like immoral, nasty or cruel people move ahead and get the best all the time? I’d like to think being polite, nice, caring and hardworking SHOULD be enough to bring good things into your life. Yep, I’m being naive…..feel free to judge me! 😉
I'm not an aggressive person either, but if someone actually rips something out of my hands, they're not going to be happy with how I react.
I used to be like you Barb at your age. Fast forward to age 57 and I speak my mind now. I’m still nice and sweet, to a point. I absolutely love you guys and wish I could run into you someday. Happy, healthy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and to the rest of us drooling at your finds. Take care all😊
Realistically you have to expect assertive and even aggressive behavior at those types of sales. People are crazed! Not condoning it, just saying it’s predictable. Especially if presale pictures were posted. Egad! I go for fun, without needing anything so I can stay calm. PreCovid I used to go and would always head for the dustier, dirtier rooms to avoid the madding crowd. Though I did find in one sale in the front room a gorgeous vintage lightning rod with a metal horse and turquoise glass ball, which I paid full price for ($120), and love everyday displayed in my dining room. No-one else was at all interested. I think the key to enjoying it is not to wish people were nicer, but just go to have fun and maybe find something you love.
I have so many of those old German ornaments from my Grandfather, they're treasure to me!

Exactly what Barb experienced is why I don’t go to Estate Sales. I don’t even really do Yard Sales anymore either. I have very little patience for ignorance and there would have been problems so I just keep my self out of those situations. Barb though did get some great stuff!
Oh, my. I couldn’t even deal with a crowd like that. Kudos to Barb. Great hauls.
I wish you had gone back on 50% off day and protected Barb while she shopped. Just arms stretched "Step AWAY from the Barb!" XD

I was going to go back, but I was still traumatized from earlier. But went back Thursday and got the santa. Putz houses were there on Wed.
And that lamp is going to be for sale at their next sale. They're having more sales with stuff in the other rooms and basement.
I got the Holt Howard Angel abra when I went back on Thursday. It had another box of candles inside. But glad I got to meet Barb. She was one of the only sane people in that house.
And I have already sold the tree for 160.00.
frenzy sales like that stress me out!
I’m screaming buy them Jeffrey you can reuse the tree every year to display and sell. Buy it! You can make the money back easily. Buy it. No! Don’t walk away.

Jeffrey those gold millimeter balls are not corsages. That's how they arrive in a box to the flower shop. They usually come in groups of 10 taped together.
I've been a florist for over 40 years. I've used 100,000s of the millimeter balls at Christmas time. They come in every color.
Those estate sales where you sign up and wait in line can be crazy for sure. I usually head to the back yard where the funkier stuff is that’s easier to pick up. In one church sale all of us could see through the doors while waiting and spied a beautiful Tiffany-style lamp. When the doors opened one lady lunged to grab the lamp, and knocked it to the floor, breaking it in a million pieces. On a calmer note I found a wire tree like the ones you saw at an online auction, with vintage metal easter ornaments on it, like chickens, rabbits, and eggs. I saw it in a room scan and the seller said “Yeah I have no idea what that is.” I was the only one who bid on it and paid $30 plus shipping. Gave it to my sister who loves primitives. It was really cool!

Vintage Christmas is HUGE. 7 years ago, I was finding so much amazing vintage christmas things at thrift stores, now its almost impossible to find. The glass garland is GOLD.
Way to go Barb. People can be too aggressive. I’m happy for you to have what you bought. Amazing Christmas sale. I would be too curious and I know I would sneak back for half price day❣️
I think Barb did alright! She ended up with some good stuff - wasn't overly traumatized- and I don't think I heard her say she wouldn't do it again for a chance at things she wanted! And she kept her dignity!
The boxed candles I think were refills to those metal angels that spin around when you light the candles underneath them.
Jeffrey you should have gone back the last half hour of the day - you might have been able to work a deal!
I feel for you Barb. In my opinion you are the better person for not grabbing things from other people. I’m not aggressive or confrontational ( unless pushed) either . Funny how everyone wants the “Christmas items”but the meaning of Christmas gets completely forgotten with those actions. That sale had some really great stuff. I hope that you find all great treasures in the future. Would love to see how you decorate for Christmas!!
Actually Barb, I think you got a steal on those glass bead garlands, they are always marked high! Love the turkey planters also!
Have never seen wire Christmas Tree’s, the ornaments hanging on them were fantastic! I would have snatched that smaller one🌲
I would have spent a fortune just for me. My daughters could sell everything after I die. So much of this brings back memories from younger days. I would have spent the night in my car.
“ Angelabra” I tip my hat to the person who penned that one ☺️ I have the 100 year old Teapot ornament Jeffrey. It was from my great grandparents who lived in Germany and set up residence in Illinois. I feel sorry for Barb in the middle of thug attitudes from estate shoppers 🧐.

Hello Jeffery and Barb!! I've been known to pull up to a Thtift Store and Leave if it's to busy ... people are in general very aggressive these days, I work in the public people can be nasty....
My sister had that cinderella cake topper back in the 80s. She still remembers that cake as her favorite
I cannot believe how much the value of vintage mid century Christmas items have gone up. I use to find them in thrift stores all the time. I am glad I started collecting them about 10 years ago. I am learning so much from your channel. I love the paper dolls 😉 🌈.
I know my collection has tripled in value and I started collecting 2014.
Those wire trees were amazing!! Barb glad you got to buy such great items despite the frenzy.

I hate it when the prices are to high at estate sales. I would price things a little lower if I wanted to sell everything. Even with half off it’s a bit much.

OMG! I am so excited that you are doing Christmas décor tours !! Sorry that it was such a crazy experience the 1st time Barb, someone should have stated that anyone arguing, grabbing, etc. would be told to leave. Someone could have been injured or one of the trees of antique ornaments could have been knocked down & broken! They had odd prices on some items IMO. Certain pieces were marked very high while others were lower than I would have expected. I.E. Barb got a steal on the mercury glass beads but the individual ornaments were crazy high (for an estate sale, not because they aren’t worth it). It’s not surprising there was so much left once you started talking about the prices & I bet the 50% off day was insane! Oh, btw…Michael just bought a tree topper like the one Barb got & said it was HH too. I don’t know if there’s a mark somewhere inside, but his had a very similar face & different colored body. I used to work at a homebuilder. After the model homes sold they would have an employee sale if all the furnishings. You could get really nice stuff. I learned quick that you would go before the sale and peek through the windows to scope out what you wanted in each house so you could get there fast. We took notes. Now, we weren't allowed to wear shoes in the house the day of the sale, even in the winter. So we would have to plan accordingly. Slip on shoes, or if you wire gym shoes you'd leave them untied, you didn't want to waste time untieing them or tieing them back. The doors would open and it was like a feeding frenzy! And it was people you knew and had to see at work the following Monday. I used to be at one house and send my hubby ti another one with a list of what and where the items were. People would fight over stuff, laying across tables, one pulling from one side and the other person pulling from another. Once I got a mattress. One lady tried to get the bed frame underneath it. She was the f-ing president's wife, like she couldn't afford a 40 to 80 bed frame! We had to pull in the president's secretary. Guess who ending up getting it...ME! It was part of the damn mattress, lol. Great memories though back then I was young, she and intimidated, although I held my ground with that woman. I wouldn't be today lol.

The ornaments look so pretty on the wire trees. Years ago live trees had space between the branches so ornaments and tinsel hung really nicely. Now the style is such thick trees that are pruned as they grow. Really wish one could still buy trees in the earlier style.
My sister and BIL grow Christmas trees, (Oregon). They do have one prunning just to create a lead top branch, but the reason the trees are so thick now is 'cos they grow quicker, by 2-3 years than the trees with spaced out branches.
@@llmifg Maybe they have the more natural trees I am looking for, lol. A quick Google tells me that trees are typically pruned and shaped every year.
Beautiful things but i thought over priced even for Southern Calif! But still lovely.
The old figural lights can be used as ornaments. Have slot of those and tie a small ribbon around top part then put hanger in ribbon to hang on tree. Love the $2 box Barb bought.

I had my alarm set and everything to go to this sale .. Last minute I decided with the amount of Christmas they had and the quality it was going to be crazy. I don’t do crazy that early in the morning. Glad you and Barb got sone nice things

My heart nearly jumped out my chest when you walked past the Christmas tree lying in a box outside, it's literally the first thing you walked past (0:55 into the video) I had one of those trees and it was destroyed by an abusive partner, I have never seen another one again. I recognized it immediately by the brown stem showing out the box. After that the rest of the video was a blur for me. My heart 😞 😭
Yes at 26:21 that is for sure a Holt Howard angel topper! I have a small collection of those cuties! I so enjoyed this video! The early part of that sale sounds craaaazy! Love the Mercury glass garlands that was a good price for all those strings! So fun!
I like to shop when I can browse and don’t feel crowded. A busy store and I’m in and out like a flash, especially now because of COVID. The house was so full! So many items! The glass blown ornament is great and the box of Tinsel for the box! 😂 Barb’s pink angel is unusual.
And you can still get deals (just may not be as many deals) in antique malls and not have to deal with the crowds and anxiety.
Jeffrey you got some cool vintage stuff. You should go back tomorrow for more at lower prices.......

I like those vintage ornaments they're so pretty I have a few vintage ornaments myself but a lot of them are pretty that beat it Garland the Mercury beats we used to have some of that when we were kids I don't even know what happened to it afterwards but it is pretty thanks for sharing that with us
Nice sale. I would have spent all my money. I would have bought so many of the brooches especially the Christmas tree ones. So much nice Christmas it would be hard to resist. Personally I would go back the next day for 50% off if Barb hadn't told the story of how bad it was with people grabbing things from other people. Next day was probably very crazy.
I have the Hallmark holiday pins they used to sell I would wear them at work they are over 30 years old

This is why I can't do estate sales 😒. I wouldn't be able to deal with rudeness and lose my....poopies. lol. Barb's haul is awesome! And the items left weren't terrible, but not really priced to sell but priced like antique store/retail on some of it.

Wow! I thought that MCM looking blown glass ornament was the best find of the day. But then you got those elephants! Then there were those birds! Then those trees! Sigh. Be still my heart.
And only a few minutes into the video I had to stop it & go back to be sure- yup, one of those brooches you bought is sitting in one of my jewelry boxes, I've had it for years.

of what you want in the first place. Many aggressive dealers
who put up a fight for what they want even if someone else
has already claimed it.
My friend, you should have rearranged the ornaments, and put all the ones you wanted on the same tree. It's not like they'd have any idea. lmfao - they literally just put them on the stands absolutely pell mell. Next time, you take me along.

Ohhhh Barb I actually LOVED your choices from earlier, especially that musical tree. Lately I’ve been avoiding going early to sales because of what you experienced, so I totally understand, sorry you had to see all of that ugly. Jeffrey, I really liked that art glass ornament with the colors inside and the gold outside. Hope you keep it. With all of that stuff that was still left, why wouldn’t you go to 1/2 price day ? The mushroom ornament is Bavarian and is a symbol of good luck for the new year.
Pickles are Victorian. The person who found the pickle ornament on the tree won a special prize.
Another Victorian Christmas game involves giving each child a different color ball of yarn. The yarn was strung all over the house, spider web style. Different gifts were tied to the yarn and each ended at the tree.
