A remix of a couple of songs from the half life 2 sound track by DJ Dain. I am not dj dain, i didn't make the song, i just thought it was pretty cool ^_^
+Ben Baker late comment but this song gets me emotional and kinda gives me depressed pictures in my head.... it makes me sad and imagine and actually live in a sad emotionless colorless world its weird.
That long train ride is a remix of the game's original song Triage at Dawn. Then That long train ride was stolen and renamed Path of Borealis. So Triage at Dawn is the original from the ingame soundtrack and Path of Borealis is a copy of DJ Dain's That long train ride. I think that's about how it went
Here i am, once again, I've listened to this song a thousand times over the years. in august 2017 it was bitter sweet, finally knowing the end of the trilogy while reading epistle 3. today i sit here, once again listening to this epic, not sad but happy that soon we will all be returning to a world long thought dead, although its been a long ride and we've lost many friends along the way, we made it.
I hope Half life 3 adds back beta enemies, unused concepts and that the combine homeworld is found... We will then wait for Half life 3, episode 1, 2 and 3..
Imagine the world when HL3 is announced. All wars will end, everyone will be inside, sitting at their computers, waiting for that one, fabled message: 'Half-Life 3 is released.'
Here i am, listening to this song once again. It was almost 20 years since i played that game in my childhood with my father. I miss that good old days, i miss that game.
"I've done what I was created for, yet, all those things i've done, seem to not have changed anything. All I find is; Numbers are power. One man can't change the world but i'm sure a million can."
As Gabe takes one more look at Alyx,,, he hears Half-Life's last words.... "Don't Leave Me.....". The screen fades to black, and the credits roll. Sometime during those credits, Gabe see's his name, along with all of his friends that helped him along the way. The game cut's back to the main menu, and Gaben closes the game. Half-Life 2 Episode 2, released November 2007. Almost 11 years ago. Gabe looks around his office, as he see's everything he's done. Gordon, Alyx, Chell, Heavy, and much more. Gabe takes one more look at the crowbar at his desk. "Oh my god..... What the fuck have I done?"
I'm a valveboy, ever since i was 6, i always played cracked half life 1&2, today i play gmod daily, almost the whole day, and i've got all of the half life games, the half life franchise is the right franchise in the wrong world (:P) Half life Alyx was a huge jump, i'm wondering if i shall try CoD? Since, not even Black Mesa feels like a new game, still has that... Source. Feeling to it, i have not played anything non source related Y'know... My life is turning into Apathy, my best friend is dead, i'm fighting for life on a daily basis, however half life is one of the games that i love, and which makes me more powerful, half life for life. Thank you, Valve. HL:Alyx gave us hope, we'll see the gate of Half Life 3 open, i know it.
It's dead already. Why? It's because Valve released a new game "Artifact." A DOTA 2 card game. Yes, people who are Half-Life fans, CS:GO, TF2, L4D, and Portal got really upset. Later, the main writer Marc Laidlaw made a blog post "Epistle 3."
12 years. Well... Everybody says that Valve isn't a company that makes games anymore. Because they have cash grabs called CS:GO and Dota 2. And others say they will release it if Epic Games Store gets all the attention. I want to know what he will end up like. A scientist that had the worst first day ever. But yeah there are still some people trying to make it. Project Borealis and Boreal Alyph. Episode 4: Return to Ravenholm was cancelled earlier.
In middle and high school when I was struggling with untreated mental illness and an abusive parent, this song was one of my main sources of comfort. It sounds sad yet warm, like you're lost far away from home and don't know how you'll ever get back, but that maybe that's not such a bad thing and you could find something else instead. I listened to it so much that now 14 years later I still know every single note. Here's to another 14 years of loving Half-Life, hopefully we'll get more than a few games in that time.
I feel like in however many more years we have between now and the release of HL3, this will be the song that represents the history of how HL3 came about. The first minute of the song is by far the saddest part, symbolising the shattered, un-concluded dreams of fans, thinking that we will never be able to step back into this incredible story of the One Freeman and his quest to wipe the Combine off the face of the Earth. And then, after many years of slowly losing hope in Valve, the most anticipated game in modern memory that was once a dream becomes very real, and hype and anticipation once again explode, shown here when the cool beat to the song begins at around 1:30. Picture it, because I think it fits quite well!
@bananhosdig Gordon did not age at all from hl1 to hl2. he was put into stasis for 20 years, which means he was EXACTLY the same in hl2 as in hl1. this is why eli says "My god, you havent changed a bit!"
"I was left alone, riding the weaponized research vessel into the heart of a Combine world. An immense light blazed. I caught a cosmic view of a brilliantly glittering Dyson sphere. The vastness of the Combine's power, the futility of our struggle, blossomed briefly in my awareness. I saw everything. Mainly I saw how the Borealis, our most powerful weapon, would register as less than a fizzling matchhead as it blew itself apart. And what remained of me would be even less than that. Just then, as you have surely already foreseen, the Vortigaunts parted their own checkered curtains of reality, reached in as they have on prior occasions, plucked me out, and set me aside. I barely got to see the fireworks begin." (Freeman becomes Canny, final phase)
According to the wiki this remix was released on March 12 2005 my 5th birthday holy shit I was actually in Florida visting my grandparents at that time and going to Disney nostalgic!
@JyskyRakas That's cool man, I'm not sure if I could ever be dedicated enough to learn and appreciate another language completely. I'm learning French but I think I'm doing ok.
Two things; 1: This cannot be found in the HL2 GCF files at all. 2: This was not used in the HL2 Beta. This was a remix that was rejected by OCRemix admins (why, I cannot truly understand. Bunch of pricks rejecting a brilliant remix like this, if you ask me) and was somehow mislabeled and misidentified as a discarded song from the beta. The person often labeled as the composer (Viktor something) doesn't even compose music at all.
Oc Remic actually rejected this soundtrack saying it was a childish rendition and a failed attempt to actually remix a 30 second clip. But it's just.. so good..
Maybe the reason we haven't seen the third installment is the basis of expectation, and a legend brought forth by it's predecessors never seeing the light of day as a result of fear. A fear of not living up to the mantle it was hoped to be. And that we'll never see it because in the end, Gaben fears that very hope. A phenomenal masterpiece crafted into a legend by the industry, and a legend it'll remain if we never see that next title. This song represents a journey that will never be finished, and at the end of the road - that's up to you to decide. Maybe we'll never know, and we're afraid to accept that.
