‘Breath Of Life’ was the final single, from Erasure’s Number 1 album ‘Chorus’. Originally released in March 1992, the single reached number 8 in the UK charts.
The video was directed by fellow Mute artist and video maker Angela Conway (A.C Marias) who also made videos for EMF and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Solo hay que saber ingles basico para identificar la letra de la cancion ... El vocalista claramente pronuncia bien las palabras , no como las canciones de los cantantes de ahora que le ponen un '' flow'' y jergas que no se entiende casi ni mierda en el listening de las canciones para los hispano oyentes

The fact that this is a perfect dance tune and at the same time with such sad lyrics is mesmerising. 30 years on and it is still a fresh sounding song from their arguably best album ever.

Fascinatic, hypnotising, energetic song with fabulous 80-s electronic instrumentary and Vince Clark touch. This is live proof that talent and simplicity is the best way. Through all days since it was written fragments of Andy Bell's falset squizing tears from my eyes. I`m so happy that in 80-s I was a teanager.

I had to listen to this about 400 times (not joking) so if I were ever on a desert island or in prison, I could hear all the rhythm, nuance and beautiful melody. I think this is still my favorite song ever. There are some runner-ups, but this is what I want to hear if I have to have critical surgery, not sure if I’ll ever come back.

This is my favorite Erasure song. It was pretty popular in the right clubs, but never reached the mainstream. If you only know their hits this is one to discover. Andy is excellent live.

From the "Chorus" album, in 1991. Most acts basically peak and then fall in terms of mass success. Like with Bruce Sprinsteen's rise, peak, and dimmunendo---the peak being "Born in the USA. Or, conversely, like a supernova, Sinead O'Connor exploded with her debut "The Lion And the Cobra", and (like a supernova) slowly faded out. But after Erasure's "The Innocents", the group just kept stacking the climax alums one after the other---loaded with so many treasures. The albums going from "The Innocents", "Two Ring Circus," "Wild!", "Chorus", "I Say I Say I Say", "Erasure", "Cowboy". Only with "Loveboat" did the songwriting start to dwindle. It's amazing that Vince Clarke is not the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Babyface was good, but his shit can't compare the the sheer VOLUME of wonders that came from Erasure. Long live the best of them!
I was just thinking the same thing really, how much better their songs are after their first 2 albums!
I actually like the songwriting on Loveboat, but the low-fi production does not suit the group at all. Lyrically I lost some interest with I Say, I Say, I Say..but the music is very creative and quite unique. The self-titled took things too far with making many songs way too long. Cowboy was an effort to create lots of singles that could be hits, but it was difficult in the 90s with britpop and boy and girl-groups dominating.
Been a massive Erasure fan since Wonderland... was lucky enough to see them the first time on the Innocents Tour in Bradford UK 1988. Still have the official newspaper advertisement clipping for it.
