So, Jeremi and I are going to take a bit of a break, before we start reacting to Shadowhunters and The Bold Type this summer. We're a bit burned out and also getting more busy. I hope Jen gets a suit in S2. She definitely proved herself in this episode she is capable of kicking some serious butt.

I don't think LaLa is gone. They went as far to mention that he's tattoo man, so I think they'll bring him back again. Plus, we saw the explosion, but not him actually dead. If they don't bring him back they'll definitely have another "tattoo man" though. I actually thought the backstory was enlightening it showed why his dad went to the lengths he did, where the mantra came from, and I have a feeling that Jefferson shocking/charging himself on the gate after his initial burst may be why he was able to fully manifest, unlike the others. The ending isn't as disjointed as it seems at first watch. The briefcase is what the asa lab agent said he needed in order to open the tubes. I have a feeling it goes back to when Lynn tested the vile that Anissa found in the storage locker that turned out to carry the same properties as greenlight. Meaning, the briefcase probably has an antidote of some sort as well as some other things.
The creator of the show Salim Akil, said that Grace will be back next season, so don't worry :) I just wish we had gotten more this season, which is why while I like the 13-episode length this season because it was paced well and kept us away from filler, I think a few more episodes, like 16-18 episodes, might allow more room for the characters personal lives outside of the main conflict, which means we can get some time for thundergrace, more scenes with Jefferson mentoring kids in the community, Two-bits, or even a visit from the Pierces' extended family (that could be really fun, esp if they don't know about their powers). But I think that anything above 18 episodes might be too much because a lot of shows start to get stale around their 3rd season because they run out of ideas/steam and they don't know how to stretch a storyline out amongst 20+ episodes. I very much hope that doesn't happen with Black Lightning because so far it's been pretty good, especially for a CW show.

I live for the Pinky and the Brain ref. but as far as Grace they wanted to secure her character and intro her to us. Salim said in a Con interview that Grace will be returning in a Big way in season 2

Reggie Gage at some point we are going to do an episode of us answering questions. We’ve just been so busy. But we’re hoping this summer.
I don't think sidelining Grace is anything more than just they didn't have room for romance in Season 1. But you did need to have some insight into Anissa's personal life to gauge where she's at emotionally. Seeing the breakup with her former girlfriend and the introduction of Grace sets up things better in Season 2, which I'm sure will have more than 13 episodes and time to focus some on romance.
Exactly we only have 13 episodes. I'm always here for grace and anissa, but her sexuality is not the focus of the story. This season focused on the Pierce family and that's what we needed.
Also they were up against a trained SWAT team and doesn’t have proper training or a suit so she couldn’t participate. And a Black Lightning video game would be LIT!!⚡️

Jen was amazing in this ep though. And Proctor was amazingly dumb. Like, the one time in your life to hold back on saying horribly racist things is the time he went all out :P

Where exactly the show talkes place is very confusing. We have Earth 1 with Flash, Arrow and Legends that has a black female president (in the invasion crossover), but on Legends they miss Obama and the wig Gary was wearing on the finale was "very presidential". On Earth 38 with Supergirl we have a female alien president who gives the right to all aliens to be citizens, but at the same time "they're building a wall to keep immigrants out". Let's just say Arrowverse writers forget what they're doing with their shows on a daily basis. I feel like the reference to Supergirl and Vixen on Black Lightning are just from comic books, just like when Grace shows Anissa the Outsiders, so the show is on its own Earth. I really hope they don't do a crossover cause this show is really amazing and different from the other ones, I don't want them to ruin it. If they must do it though, I would like if it crossed with Flash.
I agree with this episode feeling a bit rushed, I think they should have made it an hour long. Also, I don't think the storyline with Trump 2.0 is over cause when Gambi shot him there was no blood.
It doesn't matter BL creators already said they're not really into doing a crossover

Hey guys, I enjoyed your reaction as always, but I give this episode a B. The season as a whole gets an solid A and I'm excited for season 2. I just hope they bring back Grace and explain where she's been. Also I hope they don't drag out Jennifer full embracing the prospect of becoming Lightning. I also can't tell if they're on Supergirl's earth or Earth-1 so if there is a crossover, even a small one, it'll be interesting to see who shows up. You guys take all the time you need because you guys have done so much.
BigC324 I can’t remember who it was but someone working on black lightning specifically stated in an interview that in terms of what earth black lightning takes place on is a whole different story because it is not in the multi-verse, but they won’t establish anything for now. This actually makes me believe that at some point they will do crisis on infinite earths (which if you don’t know in the comics it was an event that led to the multi-verse combining to make one earth) Because it would explain why vixen and Supergirl live on the same earth as black lightning, they also did mention vigilantes in other cities which is obviously a nod to Arrow, this would also explain what this person meant by Black lightning earth being a whole different story and why it is separated from the multi-verse. I would also like to point out that in the comics the storylines involving the dominators and crisis on earth X are part of what led to crisis on infinite earths.
