    I learned through industrial safety regulations (a worker safety rep. for 27 years) that for every 3dB increase in the level, the sound pressure perceived was doubled. So your phone app being off by 6dB is actually more than you would think. Another great video. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Sweetwater is out of the CM-140 model but I did purchase the CM-130 by Galaxy Audio from Sweetwater just now since they show it in stock. Thank you for this!

    Another great video! Thank you for mentioning the Fletcher-Munson Curve. This is the term I've been searching for.

    Very nice and informative information Bill! i knew about decibels of course, but not to the extent that you are showing here. Thank you!

    I'd be curious to see what that thing reads when you play an acoustic guitar in your studio.

    Hey bill, I love videos like this because they always give me so much insight into improving my setup and my gear. Would you every be willing to make a video about what amps are best for ambient guitar?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před rokem +1

      I can't demo any amps anymore, as I gave away the last 3 (2 small custom tube amps and a Crate Powerblock) to a good friend. I personally prefer to use amp modelers for what I do. That being said, almost any amp can be used for ambient guitar. I would just make sure it has a great clean sound that takes pedals well. I love Fender Deluxe reverbs for this purpose and used one for years with a full pedalboard in front and it sounded great.

    Is it accurate at all to just buy a calibrated sound monitor and measure my speakers db in my home? Ive seen a few of them on Amazon in the $30 to $80 range. I have a set of JBL L50's which had a replacement woofer put in by a previous owner, and Id just like to know if its higher or lower than the original woofer specs from the factory in 1979. Thanks.

    Sir how much you charge for mix or master the track or song ??

  • @WilliamHopperMusician

    In my experience, if I set everything as you suggest, different mixes and music that uses different instruments will be louder or quieter. So the question is what method you use to adjust for these variances? I mix the music then bring the volume up for that piece to 80ish decibels and adjust at that level. Do you have suggestions for setting loudness levels in headphones?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  Před rokem +1

      I should have mentioned this, but if you set the loudness of your mix to the same average loudness of the pink noise, you will be in the right ballpark. For example, if the pink noise is reading -9 RMS on your meters, set your mix to the same average level for monitoring.

    This has to be the most boring video i have ever attempted to sit through, come on Bill, you used to be better than of late, more guitar playing and pedal demo's please.

      As boring as it may be, it is crucial to understand in the home studio setting.
