I started playing the first day alpha came out. At first I just was making a 3 block tall house (3rd block was the roof) and was kinda scared of zombies, then I switched to pocket when it came out, saw nether reactors, old glass textures, old COW sounds, old explosion sound. Very nostalgic. Now here I am, pondering on how far the game has come, and how I've evolved along with it. from cramming pigs, cows, sheep, and chickens, into a pen and making diamond houses, to using lodestone compasses to figure out where a player-made dripstone cave is located at while trying to keep up with a bee on a lead. It's both sad and exciting that the game is nothing like it used to be. The sad part is that it's impossible to return to the simple life, and doing simple things and having a blast, but also we get to do things we never thought we could do.

I remember playing this game back on the 360 and being hyped when emeralds and temples were added... how far we've come.
That was the 1.3.1 update on Java version, released on 1st of August 2012, my birthday. A bygone era I miss so bad, when I was still in high school.
And now we're at 1.17, in the meantime I finished college and now I work an 8-16 job.

The developers said the glow squid “glows” the same way endermen’s eyes do. They don’t give off light but they are bright so you can spot them from a certain distance even at night.

This is really a builder's dream update. I've never been good at decorating interiors, a lot of these additions take some of the struggle out of it!
I like how they actually gave leather armor a use now. Before, it was just something nobody bothered with because you could get iron much easier than leather.

I LOVE the deepslate tiles. Ever since the first part of the update, I've been using it for all the walls in my base. Beautiful block.

I remember being so hyped to go over to my friends house to try the nether when it just got improved or try the enchantment table because I didn’t have the update yet on my old Samsung tablet, now there’s all these different blocks. It’s crazy to see how far this game has came and I’m looking forward to further updates

5:30 - Tinted Glass is also extremely useful for mob grinders! In case you want to get a better look at the spawner at work without worrying about any outside lights spilling inside.
I actually figured out redstone on bedrock, and was able to make a basalt generator with less materials than its java counterpart, as well as mob farms using spawners, flying machines, and even super smelters.

I still remember the first time I played Minecraft in 2009 and it’s crazy at how much it’s evolved over the years
i haven't played in a while, but i started a new world, and while trying to pick a palette for my house, i stumbled across deepslate and was completely floored! it really is incredible! the color and the texture is just amazing. very inspirational, makes me want to build!

If you apply and remove wax from every type of copper block you get the achievement as one, “Wax on, Wax off”
In a nutshell, this is basically a chief putting seasoning on his meal, without the actual meal being there.. (the seasoning = everything shown in this update, then the actual meal = the generation itself)
I heard the cave update is going to be split into two parts and the end half is released first.
Can someone answer something for me; are the changes actually noticeable now? Is exploring caves a new experiences?
Is the caves the only thing updated now and the cliff update is coming later?

@@zzodysseuszz As I tried to say in my original comment, they most of the individual additions of the update, but we did not get the generation itself. In other words, we didn't get those bigger and deeper caves; nor did we get those massive mountains. This would of Course include all the cave biomes as well.
The whole change in ores was indeed gadded, which is a new experience on its own. But other than a few other things you might see in the caves; it won't be completely new until we see that awesome generation in the second half (1.18). Hopefully this answered your question.
Seems like every time I get on this game, something completely changes it and I love it :)
Hope when the new caves are out, they'd be working on some new dungeon types, something to split up how barren the caves are going to look, especially with that square room that holds the spawner just being there. I am liking the new caves though, cuts out a good bit of work for a future project of mine.

People have been complaining from the early days. Adding shields was in 1.11 was a particularly upsetting thing for many in the pvp community.
Compared to the second part of the update we got fucked by Mojang at least on bedrock.....

So glad they haven’t yet patched the exp farm/exploit with potatoes. Being able to repair all your items and hit level30 from 0 after cooking a few potatoes has been super useful in a Realm where we’re levelling large amounts of terrain

@@michaelkarlson6529 - You can do it on Java too. The only difference is you need a cactus farm, but that one is even easier to automate.
@@mrelo007 if you’re playing on bedrock, I’d recommend a kelp based XP farm. It’s pretty easy to make, and it also becomes an infinite source of dried kelp blocks that you can use as fuel for furnaces and smelters.
The geodes look awesome. I’ve found 2 so far and they’ve both been cutting through strongholds.

the deepslate bricks and other blocks in the deepslate family are gonna be perfect for the castle i'm building in creative!! I've already started the kingdom wall out of blackstone, so i think a slightly lighter block will be good for the actual castle.
