- While some don't believe South Carolina is a trout rich state more than a half million rainbow, brown and brook trout are stocked in the Upcountry each year. In this episode of Pautzke Outdoors we venture to the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains to show you how to catch trout in one the state's most heavily stocked waters.

I live in the Clemson area of South Carolina and the mountain rest mountains never disappoint when it comes to great camping and amazing fishing for trout.
I took a tour of the hatchery a few years ago. What a awesome place!
It puzzles me how in all of your videos you hammer the trout, and there’s no one else fishing by you guys.
Hi Jake,
This hole is inches from a huge parking lot and on a busy road. We were there on a midweek day during the slow season. Maybe that's why?
Damn son look at that brook!! Caught hundreds of trout in upstate sc and never saw a brook even close to that. Well done sir.
As usually great advice on trout setup and technique in catching fish. Getting closer to Pennsylvania. Hope yo hear from you when you do. Continue the awesome work you all do
I have family in Walhalla and have fished those Mountain rivers, streams and lakes my whole life... Actually I'll be moving there in 6 months or so, cant wait to be back kayak and wade fishing those areas again soon...!
Here in New Zealand I don’t do much float fishing for trout and even I as a experienced fisherman found that those tips with setting up the float was excellent! Definitely going to try it in the Twizel Canals where it will be effective.
I like the guy fishing...I'd fish with him any day. Great video!
Love fishing here, always a good time.
Man that was a chunky brook. Great vid as always 🤘
Been there once. Didn’t have any luck. Will need to try again.
I would encourage any one fishing South Carolina Rivers for trout to read the SC DNR regulations carefully. Many rivers including the Chattooga do not allow any lures accept single hook artificial lures. This includes salmon eggs, corn, minnows, and cheese or anything that replicates these. (Single hook is defined as 1 sharp point)
In this section, as described, bait is allowed. Thanks for your concern.
That's awesome! Go to the santee river in sc and catch some monsters. It's a hard river to fish but the hold overs are HUGE. 20 plus inch trout!!
We heard you need a canoe or small boat to fish that section. Is that true?
@@TeamPautzke well theres one spot you can park at but you have to be a member of trout usa or just go knock of the persons door and ask. Otherwise yes, you will need to float. Theres one parking spot where it's only about 1/2 mile of calm up stream paddling then as soon as you hit your first set of Rapids theres trout for about 1 to 2 miles of river

Where on the Sanger River can you catch trout?
Santee River doesn’t hold trout, waters to warm. Although a few may slip all the way down into santee they tend to not last long.
What I would give to fish half as many places, half as often as you guys at Pautzke. At least we've got the Sierra here in Cali. Great product, great fishermen. Hope I run into you guys fishin' sometime.
Might be there this year!
@@TeamPautzke I know I will be! Second week of June, like last year. I had sent you guys a photo of one of the beauties I pulled from Lee Vining. Keep up the good work fellas!
You guys should come to Kittanning Pa or Pittsburgh for some trout fishing
Nova,
We are in Pitt often. Check out our videos from a few years ago there. Awesome time!
Awesome video thanks
I’ve been fishing for trout at that Hatcher for years and never seen or caught trout that big there??
Maybe try different bait? We caught several of them!
Went up there a few weeks ago and they were nowhere near that size. Is it better in the fall?
We had an angler send us a photo of one he caught this size last week. They only plant a few this large each week.

Avoiding those spots because I’m looking for WILD brook trout. And I’m fishing to eat not to keep releasing.
Like shooting fish in a barrel... anyone can catch fish there... I've seen 5 year olds catch all day . 🙄
Awesome! Have fun!
