  • This video covers the popular topic of Tipping on a Silversea Cruise. While the company says "Onboard Gratuities Included", what else could you do (for those who choose to tip in addition)? What about your butler or suite attendant? Or in the Spa, or on an excursion? It's all covered here. This very helpful video even includes guidelines and suggestions for amounts should you wish to tip additional to those included onboard.
This is Episode 8 of "Navigating with Lisa"; an informative series of videos from the Silversea Passengers group. Presented by Lisa Bartlett, they are an excellent way to get more information about cruising on Silversea.
There are more details in the Library of FAQs, available for free download on the group website here - silverseapassengers.com/
Or to join the discussions in our happy Facebook group, they are available here - / silverseapassengers

Thanks, appreciate the video and other you've done, it has been helpful. We just returned from our first SS cruise and we did tip our butler and cabin steward because we wanted to do it. We did see the recent letter about tipping during the cruise and it certainly was not well received by many including many veteran SS cruise clients I engaged about the matter. It doesn't matter to me, because as you said it's a personal choice and I sleep well. I suggest to SS that these inconsistencies be cleaned up, it will only help the brand.

You make it sound obligatory even though you say it's personal choice. Th recent furore caused by a ship's Hotel Director suggesting a tip level, when tips are included, was taken by many of us, as obligatory. Off the ship? In some countries, Japan is a good example, tipping is seen as being rude. The only tips are for guides, or of course, should you do a personal tour or dine in a town/city where customs should be known. even "recommended"
On board, suggesting a "normal" or even "recommended" amount is basicallysaying that it's expected. My view...and shared by many of us Europeans, especially given the response in the form recently.
