    I wish I had kept a more detailed training log when I was young! In truth, the only really detailed training log I ever kept was during the 2012 Olympic season. If you want to see that training log it is available here: www.nicksymmonds.com/shop

    I been looking up to you since way back when you were in Oregon and seen those crazy kicks in Nike pres and O trials. I was one of those kids that had the heart and I would say talent but unfortunately the school I went to didn't know half of what you're teaching others. I didn't run track until my sophomore year and CC until Jr. Were able to go to State in CC for my school something that hadn't been done in 19 yrs, go figure 😒, but purely off talent, not to diss on my coaches but it's the sad truth. This is so awesome what you're doing and I'm sure you know the impact you're doing on young bloods that are looking at this who want to get at that elite level or even just your average Joe, wish there were CZcams growing up lol. I also kept a note pad log with goals on the back during summer and after I graduated, I think if you're a serious runner it's like a thing haha. Well just some guy here ranting, need to go up to one of your events to meet, maybe some day when's there's time. Keep at it man!!!!! 👍💪🏃

      Don’t listen to me I’m just a rando and know very little about injuries but it’s probaly runners knee. Which is basically a stress or overuse injury. Pretty common injury for newer runners or when people do too much too soon. It’s kinda similar to shin splints but like in the knee.

    How do I balance setting my base training as I mainly run the 800 and getting fit enough for Xc (problem is that where I live we only run 3k for xc) (grade 10)

    • @bored4427
      @bored4427 Před 3 lety +1

      During the summer don’t train speed for your 800, go for conditioning and building an aerobic base, which is needed for cross country. When it comes closer to track you can switch to speed training while you have the endurance from cross country. Endurance is easier to train than speed (as speed is for the most part natural). This is at least what I’ve done and I’m going to be a senior. If you’re wondering how much mileage 30-40 is good and you’re only running a 3k anyway not even 2 miles, summer is basically over though so might be too late
