If you don't make a civil claim/s for this you might as well retire. That inspector should be first in the firing line, he's clearly corrupt and with zero integrity. How could he ever stand in a witness box again? It's very easy to see why police don't like cameras, they're far more dangerous to them than a loaded gun.

@Fonzie Yes, it won't come out of his pocket but if he isn't sacked then every time this inspector stands in a witness box a defence lawyer could play this video and it should be Case Dismissed. The Vagrancy Act 1824 (5 Geo. 4. c. 83) is an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom that makes it an offence to sleep rough or beg. It remains in force in England and Wales, and anyone found to be sleeping in a public place or to be trying to beg for money can be arrested.
There wasn't enough evidence because you clearly were not guilty of the offense you were arrested for, and at no time did the Inspector have reasonable grounds to suspect that you were. I genuinely believe that this arrest was a malicious improper exercise of Police powers with a view to inflicting upon you a detriment, and I think you would have strong grounds for a civil claim for wrongful arrest, and a complaint against the Inspector for a willful improper exercise of Police powers, since he knew, or ought to know, that the exercise of such powers would be improper.

@BigUp London you can be arrested - on suspicion - of an offense. At which time your arrest and custody will provide the opportunity to investigate. However there must be grounds to suspect that the offense was committed and that the person arrested had committed the offense. There were no grounds here. The arrest in this case was to get him away and locked up for the 12 hours or whatever it would be, knowing full well that he would then be released, the purpose of the arrest having been achieved. That is entirely unlawful.

@BigUp London On suspicion of what? "Being suspicious", and reasonable suspicion of the commission of a criminal offense are two different things. What were they suspected of exactly? A Police Officer cannot just arrest anyone they like (or don't like), they need to build grounds, an evidentiary basis. An allegation, or reasonable grounds to suspect that a crime had been or would be committed. These two could have been lawfully removed from where they were, but it could have been done by the book, and had it been they probably would have left voluntarily. The inspector used the powers of arrest as a first resort, and reached for a law which he didn't have the lawful grounds to use in this case, because he didn't have reasonable suspicion that the relevant offenses had been committed.

As for attempting to delete footage without a court order he clearly is digging himself a very deep hole. I would suspect he hasn't been a street plod for a very long time. Such tactics were routinely used in the 70's and 80's, fit ups and verbals were common place, until the public realized that the police were not saints.
FUN FACT Hendon is the home of PNC 1and 2 and also some back up data storage for special branch and MI5. The NCA are often to be found having a play on Hendon's facilities and they get very pissed if their registrations are recorded despite them being changed regularly.

any person of sound mind could see these 2 were not committing vagrancy. the inspector probably knew that but tried to impress/confuse you with a new term and make it sound like you were gonna be taken to court and prosecuted for a serious offence

Hopefully this will trip them up further. I've seen it with auditors in America and its brilliant. This is the second video I've seen of this place now and both times the police act appallingly. Agreed. A small digital recorder with a discreet hidden lapel microphone that can be hidden under clothing is a good backup. But remember, that if you are arrested, police can turn off you device against your will.

This is exactly the type of behavior and conduct that auditors have been dreaming of. Don't waste a golden opportunity to take that idiot of an inspector to court and show him for what he is. This is illegal on so many counts it's unreal. This is what you go out for.

They walk into a private police facility whereby firearms / taser training is underway, walk right up to the tape and sit there as if it's normal? every single person was sat watching them because they shouldn't have been there. The security gaurds fucked up in the first place "letting" them in. What they did in the first place is illegal.

Inspector piggy didn't really have a clue and you can see the anxiety within his team when he screws up the arrest (unlawful one at that). I think he just wanted to show the boys how it is done. I mean if this was a big training exercise with the lots of staff then the amount of time wasted by the entire team dealing with you when he could have just asked to leave does show they love a good intimidation fix through the day. It's so important to get that ego boost for the inspector that it looks like they held up training for a lot of police. What a poor decision and more worryingly he is the guy is running the show. God help us
