I’m a fan of using up what I have on hand. I try to do this about every 4-5 months. It’s amazing what wonderful meals you can pull together with a little creativity! Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Lisa! It's a good practice to use things up on a regular basis. I find the creative process of putting meals together with what I have to be a lot of fun! 😄😊
So glad I'm not the only one to find treasures that I forgot about. Great job using everything up
Ha, ha, ha Beth! Yes!! It happens to all of us! 😄😂
❤
Everything looked delicious and was such a great use of what you had on hand. It is a true blessing from God to be able to look at ingredients and come up with meals. I was telling my daughter about some muffins I made with cranberries left over from juice I had canned. She commented on what a gift it was to be able to think about different ingredients that way. I guess I take it for granted because i have always done it. I’m very grateful that I can. I find a lot of joy and satisfaction creating meals from bits of this and that. You always give me wonderful meal inspirations too!
I hope you have a great week Crystal!!
Good morning Adrienne! Thank you! And I so agree, it's a blessing to be able to make use of all the bits and pieces of what you have on hand and turn it into delicious meals and baked goods and not wasting what I have. I too am grateful that I can. It's so nice to always have resources on the shelf. You have a great week too my friend! 😊
Everything looks yummy Crystal. I love how I’m seeing your channel grow. Everyone hit the thumbs up 👍, it helps the algorithm and the video goes to more viewers. 😊
Thank you so much Sheila!! Yes, the likes really do help to get the video into the algorithm so more can see it pop up in their YT feed. 💖
I'm loving this video Crystal - right up my street!!! I hate waste and my husband will eat anything - he's a pleasure to cook for! I found a pack of 6 pork sausages in my freezer - halved them and put them in the slow cooker with an onion, leftover mushrooms and some carrots that needed used up. For flavour I added wholegrain mustard and some honey - served over a large baked potato it was delicious - and enough for two nights too. Doing a lot more creative resource based cooking, and cooking for two or three nights since I started watching your channel 😊 x
Hi Des! My hubby is the same, it is a blessing! Loved the use of the pork sausages! Cooking extra while in the kitchen anyway is a great use of time. It frees me up to do other things on days I don't need to cook. Have a wonderful blessed week my friend 💖
We had salmon last night and since I had some goat cheese that needed to be eaten soon, I added some dried herbs to it and melted it over the salmon. It was delicious! I have 2 chest freezers and I agree, things can really get lost down in the deep. I got some sturdy reusable grocery bags to sort things into. I have one for beef and pork items, one for chicken and fish and one for random stuff that needs to be used up (I keep that one on the top!) Everything you made looks yummy Crystal! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Kim! I love the idea of the reusable grocery bags! I've tried plastic containers (they break and crack with the freezing temps), cardboard boxes (they eventually fall apart and are hard to move around when full).. but never thought of the bags! I'm going to do that 😊The salmon and goat cheese sounds amazing.. yum! Have a great week my friend 💖
Your dinners looked delicious. You're so creative.
Thank you Dana! 😊
You have great ideas with leftovers! I love to recreate my leftovers.
Thank you for sharing. All the dishes looked amazing
PS. Once avocados are ripe, put in fridge, they last longer. Something I recently learned 😊
Thank you! 😊And that's good to know about the avocados!!
I failed terribly for tonight’s supper. 2 of our grown kids & their families visited us this past weekend. We don’t usually buy tortilla chips or salsa but do when we have company. My hubby & MIL refuses to eat leftovers but I found a recipe from another CZcamsr that would use up the refried beans, pintos, guacamole, bags of tortilla chips, several jars of opened salsa, etc. The recipe called for ground beef which I had in the freezer plus diced tomatoes & cheese I had also. The casserole was not good. I gave it a rating of 3, my husband gave it a rating if 1, & my MIL gave it a rating if minus 15.
Aww.. I'm so sorry Shelbylynn... that's very disappointing. I know I've had that happen in the past. You try your best and it doesn't work out. Even though it sounded like a good combination of foods, the recipe was not good. Hopefully next time you try something new or different it will be a success. (((hugs)))
Good morning! I had oven baked bone-in skin-on chicken thighs and broccoli (steamed) yesterday for dinner. Tonight it's Tuesday - before - Lent pancakes. I love the idea of browning and baking the chicken thighs with sauce and cheese. Will need to be brave enough to try it with something I have on hand... we'll see...
Just yesterday I went through the freezer to pull out older and oddball stuff. Found some chicken schnitzel from Aldi, just 2 leftover pieces, so that with some noodles and red cabbage will be another meal here soon. Both my husband and I grew up in zero food waste homes, so we try to be very careful, especially with produce. He would rather struggle through dinner that has a little freezer burn ( or sometimes neglectful wife-watching-CZcams burn) than throw away edible food. Not everyone has a frugal and forgiving husband like that, but I do. Another great video. Thank you.
Good morning!! I'm currently working through oddball stuff in my freezer! 😄 Your husband sounds like mine.. I can't think of anything he wont eat.. LOL.. He's the king of frugal no waste thinking 😃 I was surprised that there was no freezer burn on the chicken after almost 2 years.. it turned out perfect. Have a wonderful week my friend! 😊
