  • Welcome to my 2022 NOBO leg of the Continental Divide Trail!!
    First, let’s review my one request for viewers: negativity, shaming, bullying etc will NOT be tolerated in the comments, towards me or anyone else, so if you can’t be kind, be quiet.
    My 2021 CDT thru hike ended abruptly in Yellowstone, if you’re new here, you can learn more about that by checking out my 2021 CDT playlist. This year I’m NOBO and solo with every intention of reconnecting my footpath in Yellowstone and thus completing my thru hike of the CDT.
    Subscribe now and follow along as I return to embrace the brutality of the beautiful CDT and maybe a few other extracurriculars I might be scheming. You can also find more of my trail updates on Instagram: @ms_rebecca_ann
    For anyone interested in being a Trail Angel from afar and providing Trail Magic, any amount is ALWAYS appreciated, so if you’d like to buy me a cider in town or help with a resupply, my Venmo handle is @bergstromra
    Thank you so much for watching and supporting, I hope these videos help inspire you to get outdoors and/or follow your passion. We’re only given one life and it’s meant to be lived, get out there and live it!

    Having been married almost 30 years, any young women should take note of this woman’s character. Beauty fades over time, but a women with this attitude and character never goes out of style.

      @andymytys Před 2 lety +4

      Beauty fading over time is a myth too. Youthful appearance, if anything, fades over time. Beauty is subjective, though our society in general wants to own the definition of beauty, and sell us the secrets to getting there.

    I can see my ranch from there. That plateau is called Mesa De Cuba. It's a source of controversy every Thanksgiving, as my uncle retells the story of him seeing a diamond shaped ufo floating over it, and everyone else being too cold to get up and look.
    Ps, mad respect for doing that distance up there in one day. I used to drive from around the jemez daily and know that area well. Have a safe journey on your way to Colorado.

Reach around and give yourself a big pat on the back and take a well deserved bow to the applauding crowd. Ladies and gentlemen …. let me introduce our distinguished guest of honor. I watched another vlogger hike through this section last year and was noticing how things look so much drier and less green in your bodies than in last year’s videos. Still beautiful but makes sense the fire danger is so high just from the visuals.

    Interesting... I did that section last year near the end of Sept. I don't remember but just a very few blowdowns (except on the downslope of that first climb out of Cuba, but even on that side of the mountain, most of the actual trail was clear). Either a lot came down over the winter OR I'm having a severe bout of hiker amnesia. Heh, heh... Probably the latter! ;-)

My brother and I hiked the Rim Vista Trail where The Ghost Ranch could be seen across the huge valley in one direction and Padernal another. I'm almost positive I see Padernal (made famous by a Georgia O'Keefe painting) way in the distance around the 50 second mark. Good luck completing your CDT thru hike.

    You are doing fantastic mileage but, are you hurting yourself? Be careful.
    The blow downs are a nuisance but, they are also a waste of firewood. I built my house passive solar with a wood furnace backup. Twenty years ago, We usually had 28 to 35 clear sunny days per winter. For the last 6 years it has been down to only about 12 clear days per winter. I went from 1 to 2 cords of firewood per year to now needing 4 cords. Six years ago, gypsy moth caterpillars came through and murdered many dozens of my big black oaks. Even with cutting and using them, I'm getting blow downs of the dead oaks.
    Hopefully you'll get some rain to reduce the fire danger. Happy trails. Good Luck, Rick
