OD&K were quite true to original arrangement and versage, but I prefer Isley version(s) as I heard their Shout Pt 1 first and always recall their meter and embellishments.
Of note for OD&K is that Robert Cray was a member in the movie. Serious chops, and a reason why the movie band seemed authentic. 🙂

RIP Rudolph. This song is one of humanity's greatest songs. The happiness it has brought people and the many events it is played at is immeasurable. Start playing it anywhere at anytime and almost everyone knows it, gets up and dances, even those the most shyest and unwilling!
When my brother signed up for the Marines they had a family day for 1 last send off before heading to bootcamp. So the group from his recruiting office got on a bus to have a fun field day out with all the families and their recruit.. On the way back home to drop people back off at their cars near the recruit office this song came on. And here you had a 10 yr old getting probably 15 or so marine recruits and their families signing, By the time we were dropped off everyone was laughing and having fun during what could have been a tense sobering moment knowing they were off to bootcamp a day or 2 later.
