As a diehard Persona fan, I was simply ecstatic that Persona 3 was getting a remake. In many ways, time has caught up to it and now felt like the best chance to make things right. I'm happy to say that I think ATLUS has done a great job for the most part aside from a few nagging issues that could've used cleaning up.

The combat is so good. Seems like they've taken from many of their other games. Shift = P5's Baton Pass. Theurgy Meter + Skills = SMT V's Magatsuhi Meter + Skills.
Atlus has really grown a lot, and it's amazing they've evolved the game while still sticking to its core identity. Nothing to complain about as a fan of the PS2 versions of the game.

This game is so special to me, my favorite Persona game in terms of characters, theme and story. It seems that most people played P4 as their first Persona game, and not a lot of them gave P3 a chance. So this is like the perfect opportunity for them to try this game, and I'm excited for that.

@@JohnnyFish971 im having a blast, thanks! Imo P4 is a more polished game than P3 for sure, but the themes and story of P3 are top tier, and now a lot of people are experiencing the game and commenting about it and theorizing and it's all so great I'm enjoying the whole experience so much.

I feel like in the first semester you have so much free time and nothing much really happens to advance the plot. It’s only really the second semester where things pick up a lot.
Persona 5 & SMT5 introduced me to the series & i absolutely love it. Currently tryna finish up Royal nowadays then wanna jump into P3 reload.. eventually ill get to P4 as well..
After starting my playthrough in 2022 after coming to Game Pass, I finally finished Persona 5 Royal last night and what a ride it was. Thanks for the great recommendation Matty, and it was hilarious hearing the music in the game that you use for your videos. I'm excited to dive into this after the post game depression wears off.

Persona 3 Portable was my first Persona game and I loved it so much! I'm hoping Altus would do a FeMC route in the future. 😢 From what I've seen so far with Reload, it looks so great.
i played P5/P5R first then recently just finished 4. Picking up 3 today and cant wait to play it looks so cool
I'm not only planning on picking it up, i'm planning on leaving work early as soon as the Amazon machine tells me that it has been delivered. Loved 5 (my first persona game). And i loved SMT5. I played a bit of 3 portable, but I bought 4G at the same time and started that. Didn't finish it yet, but 3R is definitely the focus now. Going to beat that one, then FF7rebirth. Then it will be Summer and hopefully we get news of P6 or 4G-remake this fall.

Ive been playing it since it came onto game pass and im having a lot of fun. I wanted to play this so i could see how i like persona before i go to 4&5 and so far im enjoying it

Do you think there's any chance they'll change the camera speed with mouse? I prefer m&k, but feel forced to use controller. Also, there's a crazy fps drop at the mall. :/
Other than that, i'm in love. I do miss some of the 2000s animations (the same part of me that absolutely loves the trails games), but this is beautiful.

Never got the chance to play the 3rd one but i always heard it was really good. I started with persona 5 and really loved the game play! It was just a whole different game experience. So i got the chance to try persona 3 on the game pass today and have to say i love the art! Also the story is crazy! To think they didn't keep using the persona gun. Don't get me wrong in 5 its really cool with you get to see joker persona for the first time but i was very shocked seeing Makoto Yuki persona cinematic for the first time i really love the ascetic of this persona game & i can really see and appreciate how the game blew up
While P4 also doesn't have a gun it's equally fucked up, so I can recommend it. It looks very colourful and cheery (people back then complained about P3 being a bit too dark), but it literally starts with a corpse wrapped around a satellite dish and the story is about a serial killer and TVs. lol Good times.
This game part of my life now, no joke.
P5R caused me a shit ton of trouble with my girlfriend because I was playing it non stop for 3 weeks straight. Worth it tho!

28+ hours and in NG+ and this is by far the best GAME I've ever played. It beat FO new vegas, and gta on my top 3 list. I CRIED when I ended my run

Yep, been waiting a long time for this one and it is awesome! Btw, as far as that first boss that kicked your butt in P3P, best way to fix that was to hit at least lv 10 before that fight. Go all the way to the end of the first block on the first full night, fighting every enemy you can until you hit at least lv 10, then spend the rest of the time until the first full moon raising your stats and doing socials. Most efficient way of getting things done.
I've never been as hyped for any game release as I have been for this one, I'm so glad it's living up to my expectations so far
3 was my first but I never really got around to beating it. The first one I beat was 4, and 5 was freaking amazing. So I’m looking forward to finishing 3R.
Im at the very beginning of my playthrough and i think it's a perfect evolution of 3's formula into a modern state. I was worried it would totally copy 5's loop bar for bar but it maintains what made persona 3 so important to the series while modernizing it for modern consumption
I just started playing it as my 1st Persona game all thanks to gamepass. I would never have bought it but when I got the notification to install it on my Xbox I decided to give it a go. Been loving it so far!

Kenji and Kazuhiko's social links always bothered me in how to advance them I had to go against my instincts and tell them what they want to hear instead of what is for their own good
I think that's intentional. A Persona is a mask. And I think P3 does a good job with your social links where you have to mask yourself to build connections rather than just generally be a nice person, which is how later games treat social links. You have to act like an asshole to the monk to get him to open up to you. You have to pretend to agree with Tanaka's schemes to get him to like you, etc.

Persona 5 is nearly 7 years old can’t believe it so its good to have another new persona game. Looks likena complete remake of 3 but for 70 bucks i may wait for a price drop or just get it when i have nothing else to play at the moment.

I'm enjoying it despite the story starting pretty slow, but I like slow burns and apparently the game has a great second half. This actually took me off Infinite Wealth which works cause that game has character/chapter descriptions to easily jump back in at some point.
Super excited for this. Got to finish Like a Dragon first.
Well Matty I finally gave Persona a shot. Played Persona 3 Reload on Gamepass, just finished it tonight and I was completely and utterly blown away. What an incredible experience. Now I just need to decide between 4 Golden or 5 Royal next :D
Now all we need is a P1 and 2 remake since they're the most neglected games.

Monad Doors are a retooling of the Monad Depths, which was a hidden/bonus block or Tartarus for NG+ -- the whole point of the Monad Depths though is just an endgame grind so you can eventually fight Elizabeth/Theodore(P3P).
I'm not sure if they're going to keep the Monad Depths, but its not "new" new... just a retooling.

I’m just sad it’s not on switch! I played both 4g and 5r for the first time last year and a big part of why I stuck with them was being able to play in bed for an hour (sometimes 3) every night. I’m going to try this one out with game pass ultimate on PC and hope streaming to my phone will help lol!

I'm playing on merciless and it's still mostly pretty easy (for a series veteran), but those Tartarus minibosses can still be tough sometimes.

Gaming is just unreal right now. Multiple great games coming out every month. Yakuza, Persona 3, Final Fantasy 7 remake part 2, Hellblade 2, Stellar Blade all within a few months from each other. And I haven't even started Baldurs Gate 3 yet. Hard to keep up but that is a great problem to have.

I don't mind when it takes longer for the story to get going, it gives you the opportunity to immerse. Also I would say the comment about social links not having benefits is not accurate. By spending time with your teammates you unlock significant passive buffs for each member that are extremely beneficial for fighting shadows in Tartarus(unless you are playing on easy or something where combat doesn't matter) all in all still my favorite game in the series. I laugh a bit to myself when I can sit and say that cutscenes and soundtrack alone in persona games are better on their own than entire other games. 10/10.

The way you acquire your persona and three was my favorite because you're on the roof and you get this like anger and a surge of power that comes over. You remind me of like dragon Ball and then you see how he screens persona and then that's when you unlock your first persona. That's been my favorite thing about about the persona series. I don't like that it goes on a day to day and then you have only a calendar year to complete the game because you're in school. I hate that because I like to take my sweet time when I play games. I'm never rushing through a game so I'm one of those people that likes to explore every corner. Every you know look for areas every secret I can find. You know even if there isn't anything in the corner I still want to search you know and find out for my own. So that's the only thing that disappoints me about. The persona is that you have a time limit to complete the game, but other than that I love persona games. It's one of my favorite turn base of all time because of the adult theme
Monad Depths/Door isnt new to to Reload it was in P3, P3FES, P3 Portable it just had certain requirements to get to and also super missable if you didn't know it existed

Having a blast with it. They really pulled off keeping the original vibe of the game, but putting it on par with P5. I was worried for nothing, as I thought it was just going to be a new UI and coat of paint, but its alot more than that.
If anyone's on the fence about the DLC, let me just say these characters wear the phantom thieves outfits better than the phantom thieves do LOL.
I never played the og persona 3 so this is a totally brand new experience for me, so happy. Hopefully we get persona 6 at the end of this year LMAO
Why would P6 come out this year? There is unironically a 0% chance it comes out in 2024. Atlus hasn’t said a word about it and there’s been no leaks. We probably won’t get P6 for a long time, maybe 2027 or 2028. I don’t think they’re even working on it.

This is the first Persona game i have ever played, so its good to hear the opinion of someone who played these games a lot. I played this game for 10 hours at the moment and i like the battle system a lot, but i had 2 hours of battles and 8 hours of moving .PNG’s talking to each repeating the plot of the story over and over again. And that’s frustrating, really makes me feel like i’m wasting time instead of having fun. But the music is amazing! And i’m going to finish the game, even if i realize halfway through the story that it might not be my type of game.
I played 5, then 5 strikers, and then 4 golden. In each of them, I only got really sucked in after I started getting a good distance into social links, around 12-15 hours in. I've never played 3, but a lot of people say it's the best one. I would say you're right around the corner from getting your sleep schedule destroyed if it's like the other games in the series.
If it's anything like the original you really have to make it to the first couple timed roadblocks in Tartarus before the game fully opens up.
I have never played Persona and I have no idea what the game is supposed to be. It'd be great if you could make an explanation video on what type of game it is and for whom it is.

here, i'll even help some - it's a jrpg with a bit of a harder edge than say, FF has, that also divides it's time with a social sim aspect of the game.
it's basically 1/4th dungeon crawling, turn based rpg, 3/4ths high school slice of life dating sim mechanics, thing.
you'll spend days going to school, afternoons boosting your social stats, or upgrading your relationship, romantic or otherwise, with people, and nights either studying, to raise your knowledge social stat, or doing the dungeon crawling stuff in tartarus.
Been playing this alongside p3p and it’s actually hard to say which I prefer. The mechanics they added and new look is nice but not having FeMC is just a huge bummer.
persona 3 reload is the first persona to grip me and keep me interested. really loving it and its now making me want to play the others :)

Yeah. I'm really, really happy for my male friends who also like Persona 3! They're having a bunch of fun with it, and I like seeing my friends happy. I just wish I could also get the same experience they're getting right now from a female player's perspective. I'm used to playing as a guy, and it's not like I can't play as a male protagonist- it just would have been nice if they'd at least made her DLC or something. I would have paid for it in a heartbeat.
I hear a lot of people say they like Junpei's new voice. I can't say I dig it. It sounds like the voice actor is trying to imitate the original voice but it comes off sounding a little squeaky? On the other hand there is a lot of dislike for Akihiko's new voice and I think it's just fine. It is a tall task to follow up Liam O'Brien's performance. If that didn't exist, I don't think people would feel so strongly negative about this new voice.

So shuffle time doesn't actually shuffle still? What I liked from P3FES was that some cards had the skull mark over them and it'd summon the reaper to screw you over if you picked the wrong card after the shuffle. If the player was ready then you'd face it, and if you weren't you'd BOOK it to find an exit. Even if the shuffle was kinda easy to predict, It added a lot to exploring tartarus, along with the idea that if you stayed too long on a floor..the reaper would come out still which i'm sure they havent changed that.
The Reaper still comes after you if you stay too long on a single floor.
This is my 4th favorite game of all time so I am glad the remake turned out great. I am still getting used to Yukari's voice though. She is my favorite character and the new voice isn't bad by any means but the original was just perfect.
Honestly I feel like the rewind feature should only apply to the easier difficultly options. The rewind thing feels like it's defeating the point of the game which is managing your time well

I disagree that the opening hours felt like a crawl. When I got to like 3 hours in I was at the point where it was letting me go do the first 20ish floors of Tartarus which is great for me. I was looking to just jump right in. Like yeah now I’m after the first full moon and it’s now more open but I didn’t feel like I was constantly being forced out like the in 4 and 5

The only real downside thing to this game is that its still old game design being remade but it still has that kind of boring old style map thing for tartarus where is bland empty and samy across the board. P4 changed things up, but p5 really went next level on this aspect of the design.
you can set the difficulty to peaceful and farm the reaper. Its such and easy way to farm exp

We will see. Persona 4 and 5 are some of my favorites of all time. The great news I will be playing on gamepass for free. I am more of a PlayStation and Nintendo guy but game pass alone made the X box Series S a great buy

Right now I'm about 2 and a half hours into persona 3 (not fes not reload not portable just the og persona 3) and it's been pretty enoysble.
