Freddie became not only a rock legend but a legend in the Opera world as well. He may not have been on the same level as Luciano Pavarotti in 1989 but there is no denying that he had the talent to become a highly regarded Opera singer if he'd had the chance. He had so much more music in him but i guess the heavens needed another angelic voice. I know that Freddie and Montserrat are together serenading the heavens.

Freddie is actually an High Baritone. He is between Baritone and Tenor. I can tell that because I'm actually a Baritone and not even Fully Grown.

This doesn’t necessarily count as the “Baritone range” considering he barely touches it. The lowest note I can hear is probably a D3 maybe C3, I’m not sure. If you want a real baritone range go check out “Flick Of The Wrist” where he sings in the baritone range! I’m pretty sure that’s the right song!

In London before the album was done, at a performance Montserrat sang this composition of Freddie's, Mike Moran (and herself) as an encore. She called up Mike to accompany her, then quietly asked Mike if Freddie had come. He had. Montserrat told all the composer Freddie Mercury was present. There was an immediate standing ovation. What I read said he was beyond thrilled. Me too. lol

@@a.carpenter295 Yes this song is from C3 - A4. That fits perfectly in tenor range. Tenors have much deeper voices in opera due to the bel canto technique. This is a pretty typical tenor type of sound.
As a native speaker of Spanish and Queen/Freddie Mercury fan, listening to Fred singing in Spanish is the most beautiful thing I have ever listened to. I have been a fan of them and a learner of English for many years, and I am able to understand Freddie's singing and speaking quite well in English. However, listening to him in Spanish is simply special, indescribable; it just gets to my heart.
I am reading Peter Freestone's book where he talks a lot about the collaboration between Freddie and Montserrat. She got him to sing in his natural voice which was a baritone. Many thought he was a tenor. I've always loved when he sang in the lower octave during concerts although he sounded great in falsetto as well. :)
I agree on everything except for him being just a Baritone. He is a High Baritone because I'm actually a Baritone (and I know that I'm not a Low Baritone. If I would be a low baritone then Freddie would really be an normal Baritone. But no) I'm a Baritone and it is very different from everything Freddie did. He is a High Baritone.
@@ben1ben I am not a musician so low or high baritone doesn't mean much to me. I was just commenting on what was written in the book. Freddie usually sang soprano or tenor during concerts until he couldn't hit those high notes. Whatever his "natural" voice was, he stretched himself and taught himself how to have command of his full vocal range. He's truly one of the greatest vocalists of the past, present (and likely future) generations.

Although Freddie no doubt had a beautiful voice, I can only imagine how perfect it would have been if he had had more formal vocal training in opera. Montserrat’s voice can only be described as ‘from heaven’! I’m thrilled she collaborated with Freddie and saw his raw talent. Two beautiful songbirds who left behind a treasure for all! ❤️🎶❤️🕊
