There are definitely quieter places on Carnival ships, but -- like the party spots on Princess -- you have to look for them. The "secret" decks forward on many ships, the Serenity adults-only area, the outside Deck 3 walkways on the Conquest and similar classes, and much of the outside lanai decks on the Dream, Vista and Excel classes are all great, quiet relaxation spots.
Princess doesn't have the water slides and coasters so they're catering to a different demographic. Kids love Carnival, but adults get annoyed with shielding their kids from the rowdy drunk passengers who gravitate to Carnival for the prices. Princess has the best pizza at sea and hands down the best beds! Unlimited free pizza at the free ice cream venue at the pool. However, Carnival has more selections of terrific free food venues. One of the best parts of being on a cruise is being served so the MDR on Princess wins with food. And the medallion is great. So fun to see Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary when you approach the elevators if it's your dates.
For me, it's Princess by a mile and a half. I've been on 8 Princess, 6 carnival (1 HAL). Princess is heads and tails above, unless you want a wild party.
Cruised once. Princess. LOVED IT. I'm sticking with Princess for the next couple of cruises. But then I'm an introvert: Carnival sounds like it's going to be much too noisy and crowded for me.
@@raymccarty4612 And time of year can be a factor too. 98% of our cruises with Carnival were Fall Break season (btwn end of Sept to beg Oct) total different vibe (party vibe with a bit of classy & family friendly) than the Spring Break cruise we took Spring 2023. That cruise was THE wild party vibe & the cruise director made all of his presentations quite raunchy & un-family friendly. We were surprised even for Carnival.
I'm Platinum with both lines and Carnival has fell VERY SHORT on taking care of their top tier ever since they started the casino rate cruises within the past year- two years!!! It seems like that's all they care about now!!!
I've been on Carnival, Princess, NCL, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America. As my son grew up, so did the cruise line. Lol. I've never had a bad time on a cruise, and I've found that each line has positives. It just depends on what your priorities are, as to which line is the best line for each person. That said, I'll have a hard time not going Holland America from now on (3 star, and getting pretty close to 4 star mariners). The food and service far surpass the other lines (imo), but obviously, a much older demographic. We haven't tried Celebrity yet. I'd love to see a similar show comparing Holland and Celebrity!! Thanks for everything you do to keep us informed on all things cruising for my face!! 😊
Mike was spot on as far as I’m concerned. If you asked the same question selecting the same free cruise without children, I would like to hear his response. I’m guessing it would be Princess. I’m predicting that Carnival Corporation is preparing to roll out the Medallion technology to their lines other than Princess. This is why, I believe, that Princess is renaming their app from “Medallion” app to “Princess” app. This is just my supposition. However, why else would they rename the app? If you like Carnival, I believe that the Medallion technology may be coming at some point. Thanks for the comparison review.
Never tried Carnival, 19 cruises on Princess, 1st time in 1998. Can't compare the 2 lines, but will stick with Princess, 3 more planned this year and next.
Great interview Tony. I think Mike hit the nail on the head. I agree with him 100% having also experienced cruising on both princess and carnival. Your last question about traveling with the family was a “bull’s-eye“. If you were traveling with children, carnival is the way to go. However, you have to realize that you r going to sacrifice, food quality and service, but gain more “fun” and activities for the kids. On Princess, there is plenty to do and the service is much nicer along with the food.
Totally agree with Mike's assessment. Both Princess and Carnival have their pros and cons. I really like the itinerary options with Princess but I also tend to like a little more energy on the ship. Good interview Tony.
Exactly right! Carnival is "in your face" ALL THE TIME! It's the ALL THE TIME that was the problem for me when I tried Carnival. I'm good with looking for the party when I feel like partying. I don't need the party to scream in my face throughout dinner. Lord, that was annoying! I don't in any way think a Cruise Director can make or break my cruise. Why should my fun be dependent on some total stranger? I know what I want to do or not, no matter what a Cruise Director tells me. For me, it's Princess every time.
I agree with everything he said. I have done 15 Carnival and 11 Princess with 2 Princess booked for this year. I usually cruise the one where I can get the best offer at the time, but prefer Princess. I am with some of the others on fav cruise line is what ever ship I am on! Thanks Tony, interesting.
This is why I like both of those Cruise Lines sometimes I want to be on Carnival other times I like to go over to princess. But either way princess and carnival on my two favorites
Platinum on both. Vote for Princess. Going on Holland America because disappointed with Sky princess but Princess redeemed itself with our latest cruise on Emerald.
Sounds like the "Salty Dog" is the Carnival old school Grill. Dogs, burgers, chicken fingers, nacho chips, fries and chili, nacho cheese,. Reminds me of a good ole Coney Island restaurants from day gone by.
Surprisingly my teenagers (ages 13 & 15) tell us they have liked our Princess cruises the best! Better than our RC cruises. On Princess, they enjoyed the game shows as they were hilarious, our cruise director, & having way less little kids and toddlers running around;)
I really enjoyed this conversation..I have been on 5 carnival cruises. I am going on my first Princess cruise next month and this added to my excitement.
I agree with Mike's opinions regarding Princess and Carnival experiences. I'm over 70, have about 30 cruises on each and sail exclusively on casino offers. They're both GREAT in their own way. Thanks to both of you for this video.
Having been loyal to Royal for 10+ years, I just took my first cruise on Regal Princess. Best cruise director of any ship I have been on. The skill of the performers were top notch. The ship games were great and the crew was fantastic. The disappointment was in the food. The poolside food was great. Best pizza on any ship. The desserts were great as well. However, the main dining room and buffet food was ok at best. From my experience, Royal wins the food game in spades. I had a great time on Princess and would cruise with them again…
@@kimkrentcil4581 I'd also consider HAL for Alaska, as their ships are much smaller and can get into some places that the big Princess/Royal/NCL/ ships can. IMHO, the MDR and buffet food on HAL far surpasses most other main cruise lines.
I just booked a Carnival cruise for April '24. Also booked for a 10 day on Disney Fantasy July '24. I know the expectation for each and I am equally excited for both🎉
Thanks for your input..I've never cruised Carnival but going on my 1st Princes this year...I've only cruised RC which we really love!! I'm on board going to find the party if I feel like partying that night, I do like to party just not all the time I do need my quiet time or relaxing time..
Princess for me but the pizza was just ok. The international cafe was not impressive to me at all. Now give me O’Malley’s on NCL for my 24 hour place. The medallion rocks
I sailed with carnival few times and sailing on Princess 2028 for our 25 anniversary. So I really can’t say anything, but I do believe different cruise lines has pro’s & cons.
This conversation makes me happy! I love that everyone has a different favorite. I love princess but I have Never had a bad cruise. Princess fits my personality a little better. I’m so glad that everyone is different.
Thanks for that great interview. Certainly agree with the answers on both. Having completed 20 cruises with Princess Out of 33 in total I guess you know how I would vote.
Trying Princess soon. We just turned Platinum with Carnival but not enjoying the older ships. Looking forward to discovering all that Princess has to offer.
Love the enrichment programs on Princess, especially during their Alaska cruises. It was wonderful having a naturalist on board and learning about the wildlife and culture around Alaska.
Hi Tony and Mike. This was a great comparison. Totally agree with the medallion technology. What's great about different ships is what they offer and what you're looking for. I love Princess for Alaska. It really depends what you're looking to do. ❤
I like both Carnival & Princess. However, if Im traveling with my grandchildren or my young adults' children, definitely Carnival, if it's just myself and friends in my age group, I prefer Princess.
Used to like Carnival a lot. Still do. Princess is a good line. I don't like Princess charging for casual restaurants that used to be included. Carnival has all ages across the board. Princess is mostly middle age to older crowd. I could relax on Carnival just as well as on Princess. This is true with limits on how many times you could go to Alfredo's. Included food Carnival is tops. International Cafe isn't always so good. Some things about the medallion is good. Don't necessarily want people to know I'm around before I say something. Some Cruise Directors are good. Some aren't. Am subscribed and even hit the like button.
Toni thanks for bringing this show up. I have been on 53 carnival cruises and 19 different ships. As I am trying to go on carnivals entire fleet. Then I will try another line still going on carnival……I appreciate you
I am a foodie so definitely Princess. I was on Carnival Panorama for 7 days and my family and I couldn’t bear eating their buffet nor MD food the last few days. So I rather pay a little more to be on Princess and enjoy MD food every day. Another big issue with Carnival is that they don’t enforce curfew for kids so you will see loud kids running and screaming past 1am…. My kids 21, 17 and 11 don’t even want to be on Carnival again. Entertainment wise, I actually found more fun events that I enjoy on Princess than Carnival. On top of that I just love the Princess feel and decor much more.
Tony is Princess is more suffocated i went on my first Princess in 2008 i was invited by P&O as retired staff on the Dawn Princess we loved it as we had done 6 Med cruises with P&O UK . We are older now and enjoy service snd good food and a more calm ambiance. By the way Joff Eaton is one of the best cruise directors he is presently on Serenade of the Seas world cruise.
Carnival if I go with all my family and want to party hard. Princess for my husband and I to have a very relaxing time and for the destination and quality. We enjoy both lines.
Went with my significant other, daughter, son-in-law, and three grandkids (ages 9, 7, 3) last summer to Alaska on Princess. Everyone had a fabulous time. Heading to Caribbean the minute school gets out this year on Enchanted Princess. Plenty of activities for everyone...together or separately. Can't wait!
It is very hard to classify any one cruise line or even cruise ship. Port of embarkation, length of cruise, itinerary, can all drastically change the operation and the feel of any ship. The Captain and major staff supervisors and officers can change a ship feel. If crew love them can be happy ship, if crew feel like they are treated badly then unhappy ship. So a cruise on cruise line X ship Y can be horrible one time and fantastic another. Though honestly the almost daily news of raising fees, curtailing services have made them all seem just so so to us right now. George in NY
It depends you want! Carnival is great with a great variety of things to do. Princess has way better service. I like Princess a lot, but my favorite is Royal Carribean because they have good service and has many things to do. For me, Royal 43 cruises, princes 6 cruises, carnival 6 cruises, Norwegian 8 cruises, and Viking 2 cruises. Viking has the best food!

The best cruise ship is the one I'm on enjoying myself.
I agree!
Well said!!
I regret I can only give you one 👍🏾
exactly 💯
Exactly!
The alcohol effect is much more evident on Carnival. I like to have fun but also like to be able to escape to a quiet place and chill.
Your room.

The sun princess has water slides. Just FYI
Isn't it great that each cruise line offers something slightly different and we all can find our fit? I've sailed both Carnival and Princess.
Been on both. Enjoyed them both. I stick with Princess now as I prefer the service over slides. I also enjoy the vibes.
Love that you’re adding interviews on your videos Tony. Love the mixture. Keep up the good work.
I’ve never cruised carnival and don’t intend to. I am a loyal princess customer. Princess just fits us better
Same with me. I have been Elite a long time with Princess, so I know what I am getting. Not knocking Carnival - it is just not me.
For me, it's Princess by a mile and a half. I've been on 8 Princess, 6 carnival (1 HAL). Princess is heads and tails above, unless you want a wild party.
Cruised once. Princess. LOVED IT. I'm sticking with Princess for the next couple of cruises.

I was terrified to go on the first Carnival cruise because people convinced me it was for trashy people. That's 100% false. We love it.
We have found out that the length of the cruise is a critical factor for general behaviour of guests.
What other cruise line have you been on?
It's unfortunate that Carnival gets an unwarranted bad rap.
Have done both. Now im in my 50s im leaning towards princess. Sailing again February.

Totally agree with Mike's assessment. Both Princess and Carnival have their pros and cons. I really like the itinerary options with Princess but I also tend to like a little more energy on the ship. Good interview Tony.
Princess! Never had a bad cruise or cruise director in all the cruises we've taken.
I have cruised on both lines. I prefer Princess.
Thank you for this video! After watching this i have decided that I have princess taste but on a carnival budget 🤷♀️

love these kind of interviews!!!! As a cruise person these chats are invaluable to newbies as well as others!!! Thanx.
Thanks! Appreciate that feedback!
I’ve only been on carnival. Been on 15 now. Never had a bad time so I don’t want to change. Plus I’m VIP
We have only travelled Princess. The accommodations they make for my husband dietary restrictions make him happy 😃 and that very important to me
We want to relax and we really enjoyed princess

We mostly cruise with Carnival. I am close to Platinum. I wish I could cruise as much as some people. We are lucky to go once a year.
I'm on Royal right now for my first Medallion cruise and lemme tell ya! I'm impressed!
That last question had him going!
This is why I like both of those Cruise Lines sometimes I want to be on Carnival other times I like to go over to princess. But either way princess and carnival on my two favorites
Princess get my vote, always a great experience
Platinum on both. Vote for Princess. Going on Holland America because disappointed with Sky princess but Princess redeemed itself with our latest cruise on Emerald.

Love the interviews!

Solo traveling NCL is KING.... perks are amazing... free dinners, wine, wine tasting, champagne and etc.
Our best line(so far) is Royal Caribbean.
What a fantastic chat! Thanks so much! ☺️
Great interview. Love to see more like this! We are big Princess cruisers but enjoyed hearing about carnival.
I love the medallion on princess, I only sail Princess

Tony if you have not tried the Chicken Pot Pie at the international Cafe. You need to try it it’s awesome.
85 cruises on Princess. Never seen a fight, drunk kids, etc. Carnival is the Walmart of cruising.

Thanks for another great interview 🎉❤😊
