    OK so I finally finished my 'binge watch' - what am I going to do now?
    I feel I have learnt a lot; the subtle use of shades of grey, the glory of the finer shades of rust, and the joy of well laid static grass for starters. More seriously, that attention to detail, "god is in the details" certainly applies here. You have made glorious use of the ordinary things in life, rail-side clutter, building sites, caravan parks, re-animating disused station buildings; there is a signal box nearby I have been watching, sadly, as it falls further into decay - one day it will just disappear no doubt. But you are also able to breathe a subtle sense of humour into things - I hesitate to mention the Weasley car, the way certain people/passengers move around, the time-slipping Mr Portillo on the platforms of Dean Park.
    And of course the fact that you are only halfway(?) through the build, we will all be watching to see what happens next - for years - hurrah!!!
    And that is without even mentioning your educational, and analytic, reviews of trains and products, excursions off-site to shows and other layouts, interviews and real trainspotting.
    Thanks you so much Dave, and "Floreat Dean Park"…

    The level of detail is phenomenal, what sets it all apart is the realism, the track look and 'wear and tear' etc is the best I've ever seen. On the camera you cannot tell it apart from the real thing. A lot of people pack in detail but never finish it off 100%, always looks a bit rough round the edges when examined closely, no hint of that here, your eye never stops looking around for the next gem to see.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 4 lety

      Stewart Ross Hi. Really kind of you to get in touch, thank you. I like to make sure I’ve got a section looking finished and tidy before I move on. Nothing worse than an untidy scene. He camera shows up everything.

    Dave, one word, INCREDIBLE. You’re an artist and craftsman. I must confess my extreme admiration of what you’ve achieved. I used to watch the trains down at Hendon in the late 70’s, early 80”s, so a little bit earlier than the period you’re modelling, it was pure BR back then ... a lot of 45’s and 47’s with the odd unexpected visitor ... I was also a modeller back then in my teens ... your layout is simply amazing !! Brilliant !! I congratulate your achievement. 🙏

    There is only one word for it "Amazing" The amount of research, attention to detail, weathering, painting all the little extra bits lying around all add a great sense of realism. I don't know how long you have spent making it and of course, there is still some more work left to do. I have learnt a lot from what you have done. I have nearly finished all the buildings for my son's (And me) layout according to the plan. Which you can view on Facebook "Yorkdale LNER Preservation Railway" Best wishes, Martin (Thailand)

    Your layout is amazing! You and Everard junction have made me wanna build a model railway!! I particularly like the 80s era with the BR blue locos and DMU's. It brings back nostalgia when I visited my grandparents and went places on these trains. Always wanted a model railway. I'm going for N gauge as I don't have that much space. But there seems to be enough products for this miniture scale.

    Hi Dave,
    That was just superb ! Loved every minute of that video, so well put together.
    Your attention to detail is amazing and quality of workmanship very impressive. The resulting effect is a very convincing railway in miniature with s strong Scottish flavour !
    I particularly love the Lothian Mk1 Leyland National ! I once owned one that I bought from Lothian, when I came to Edinburgh to view it, prior to purchasing it, it looked just like the model on your layout. It was VKE 566S, can’t remember the fleet number Lothian gave it, though 137 springs to mind.
    Well done on your railway, and thanks for the video tour, I really enjoyed watching it.

    Nice one Dave. Havent been following since the beginning, but I did start from video 1 when I did come across your channel about 18 months ago. Has come a long way since the single track in the beginning and has been a lot of inspiration for my own build. I love your detail on even the most insignificant things. Hi Dave, On your Scotrail push pull class 47 what couplings do you use, please. I know Richard advocates Kadees I thought you were tension lock but that doesn’t always work when propelling? Well not on my helixes.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 4 lety +1

      Lucas Junction hi. I find that the best couplers for propelling are the wide tension lock ones found on most Hornby mk3! The wide slightly curved design allows the bogies to move freely as the coaches go around a curve!
      However these are no longer produced (Hornby updated this coach to roco close couplers) they work well being pushed.
      Not tried kadee in a push formation. I did a video on the Oxford Mk3a in scotrail where I think I covered different couplers the Oxford coaches aren’t great At being pushed as their coupler mechanism sags and can dismantle itself!!

    Such an amazing layout and avid follower! Excited to see any new videos posted haha! I’m just about to get started on my first ever layout (go big or go home so a full loft layout is the plan) and nearly all my questions have answers however do you use all peco track on your layout? And what code track do you use?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 4 lety +1

      Kristoffer Cummings hi cheers. I use peco streamline code 100. Its durable for the loft and while code 75 looks more prototypical, it’s more fragile.

      South to North tamiya clear yellow paint! Paint it on the light lens and it turns them into a orange/yellow effect... I’ve done it with my depot shed lights :-)

    the road over the level crossing doesn't appear to go anywhere and I'm surprised that, with your attention to such fine detail, there are no passengers or lights in the coaches. It's still a work art though!!!! Look forward to the next video. Thanks.

    A cracking video. Love the way you focus on small intricate parts of your layout that can be easily missed. Your attention to detail is very intimidating! Have you any plans to do an exhibition layout?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 4 lety +1

      Fircombe Hall Railway OO Gauge hi thanks.
      Please, Don’t feel intimidated.... it’s just about planning a scene. I get a rough idea of what I want in that particular area, for example a couple of relay boxes.
      Then I look at a photo or see it for myself at the line side to get an idea of what other details go there.
      I then make a wee list, Such as cable trunking, speed signs, old rails, sleepers etc. I then try to work them all into that area.
      I get a lot of my detailing parts from scale model scenery, York model making, or sometimes Bachmann accessories, figures etc.
      cheers
      Dave

    Great tour! Nothing short of outstanding. How on earth do you manage to keep such a large layout dust free? I could not see any dust anywhere especially where it would be noticed on the platforms. Any tips?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 4 lety

      Justin Semmens Hi. Thank you so much.
      Ok dust free. Well I’m sure there is dust lol, but I like to take a one inch soft paint brush and dust it... while at the same time using the nozzle /brush attachment from the dyson to suck up the dust.. you’ll never get it all but a little clean now and again keeps its clean.
      As for the trains... I dust these with a small puffer brush (which you use to clean the lens on a camera. So it’s soft and won’t damage the trains)
      Hope that helps.
