  • A bank holiday walk from the Parkdean Trecco Bay Holiday Park to Porthcawl town centre and the seafront.
The walk actually starts at Newton Beach to the east of the Parkdean resort. Passing through Trecco Bay Park itself, passing the new Trecco Bay pavilion before heading down to Trecco Bay beach.
The walk then takes you to Sandy Bay, Coney Beach and Porthcawl Funfair before heading up to Porthcawl town centre.
Then, it’s a brief stop on the promenade before heading to the last location on the walk, Porthcawl harbour.
This was filmed early on the sunny Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.
    Places on the walk:
    0:00 Hello From Newton Beach
    0:33 The Route
    2:19 Entering Parkdean
    3:14 Welcome To Trecco Bay
    6:31 Trecco Bay Beach
    8:44 Sandy Bay
    9:50 Coney Beach
    10:43 The Hi-Tide
    11:54 Porthcawl Fair
    13:38 Porthcawl Town
    14:25 Porthcawl Promenade
    15:20 The Harbour

We were just there, on Wednesday Marcus, on Trecco Beach, it was glorious and as you said busy.. And Thursday, we walked around the park and to Newton beach, then back through the park to the static caravan. It was really really windy, proper 'sand in the face' windy.. Fabulous weather, but the rain came back on Friday as I returned to pick up the Grandkids.
So, it's safe to say we had the best 'beach day' out of last week.
Best wishes to you, from Wales (too).

I like to think that when you first started videoing at the unearthly hour of 6 am that dear, old Mel was probably still snuggly tucked up in her warm comfortable bed blissfully dreaming of Jumbo Sausages & chips - and who could fault her for that?
I dare say that Mel would make a fitting muse for a reworking of Peter Sarstedt's haunting song - "Where Do You Go To My Lovely (when you're alone in your bed)"
Incidentally, have it on good authority from a very obliging bank teller when I had the occasion to pop into that very Lloyds bank on John Street, that the best Jumbo Sausage & Chips is to be had from Finnegans Fish & Chip shop - which is just under 5 minutes away. She wasn't wrong. It was so big that I couldn't gobble all of it and so ended up feeding the last 4 inches to the circling seagulls.
It goes without saying that you and Mel should definitely conduct a full review of the Parkdean Fish and Chippery. I want to know how good their Jumbo Sausages are along with their curry sauce. I don't suppose you or Mel are into cockles or whelks? I love them drenched in buckets of malt vinegar and a few twists of black pepper - all followed down with a nice big dollop of strawberry ice cream.
By-the-way, lovely shots at 14' 57'' of the beautiful sea gently lapping the shore. I just wished you returned at midday so I could gauge just how busy the beaches became - I'm not a great fan of playing sardines on a beach with shouty mothers and screaming kids.

I have'nt been to Trecco Bay for over 40 years, it seems to have changed a lot, (better or worse I have no idea?) but in my mind there did not seem to be a beach full of pebbles as in your vid? but I have no pics so cannot prove it! looking at the area you went through with the touring caravans, that was new to me? I cannot remember such a large area of open space at all, I seem to remember it was all caravans, it was an enormouse caravan site 40+ years ago, just had to look it up on google maps, it is half what it used to be, totally changed.
Further to you talk about Coney Beach I was told over 40 years ago or even further back that Coney Beach was named after Coney Beach in Brooklyn New York, I cannot remember why? maybe you know.

The Wimpy has gone, it's now the place called the "Chick King". The area at 8:25 where the containers are, that's where the Dirty Duck used to be. Yes, they knocked down the old Sea Cadet hut, they now use a portacabin by the lifeboat station. They were meant to have an area in the new development at Cosy Corner but that went 'pear shaped' last year.
