I am not, in any way, making fun of her. As a Uaena, this compilation is just to simply appreciate her speaking a foreign language. There are old clips in the vid from 2011 of when she still wasn't fluent, just to let you know, but the others aren't that old and from those we can see that she clearly took the time and effort to study the language (and now she's actually rly good at it wow). I’m not saying she’s perfectly fluent, but she’s just rly rly good.

As a BTS Stan there are alot of videos about yoongi being secretly fluent in English or jungkook but the video doesn't actually shows that they are fluent it's just that they speak a few sentences which are unique or unexpected the same goes to this video it doesn't necessarily mean that she is fluent even if the title says that she is. But for the fans it's still very exciting to watch their favourite K-pop artist speaking in English I hope you get my point☺️ I just wanted to clarify this.
@@srushti678 The thing is she's actually really fluent in English. There's a huge difference between being fluent and accurate while speaking any language. Although her English might not be accurate, it is fluent because she's able to convey her message clearly.

There’s no way she isn’t! She doesn’t even stutter and her accent is on POINT
She pauses briefly at points and doesn't seem to be completely comfortable with the language. She still has a strong, near-fluent level of proficiency in English.
She's good but she still seems to make some very basic grammatical mistakes. I honestly wouldn't call her fluent. She's still pretty good compared to many others, though!

I think that's because of voice modulation. I mean in my case and most of the people I know when we speak English we do voice modulation.
I thought that too. It's unusual because when you hear most Korean idols speak english their register usually tends to go up, but she either lowers or at least stays the same.

When she had her concert in PH, most of her talks/ments were in English. She sounded expensive. She had a translator but she chose to speak in English whenever she can, so we really appreciated that. 💜

As a Hongkong fan, I think IU's oral English is quite good.
In the earlier clips she couldn't speak fluently, mainly because she was not confident enough. Confidence is very important in speaking foreign language. Considering she was still a very young girl at that time, lack of confidence is very normal.
But in recent years, we can see a great lap forward in her English. She became much more confident in speaking English. So it sounded quite fluent, accurate and comforting.
She is such a considerate and kind idol, who always want to communicate directly with her fans in their languages. She even employed an English teacher to improve her English, which is an international language that enabled her to communicate with her fans in different places.
In the 2017 "palette" concert in HK, (3:00 in the video) the fans can communicate and interact with her smoothly, without the help of the translator.
By the way, I don't care about how accurate her pronounciation is, since she is not a language expert. The objective of her speaking English is to communicate directly with the fans, and it was obviously achieved.
As a Hongkong fan myself, I can totally feel her sincerity. Her warm action, good personality, together with her attitude towards her profession, definitely deserve our love, admiration and continuous support.
