    Soooo hype you threw these on! I made a video installing these on my CRF250L with the U-Clamp and they look soooo good💪💪Wiring the new signals into the stock plugs was also mega easy - and this was my first time ever doing it. I'm sure the T-Rex work great, but I'm definitely biased to the Zeta's!!

    Jake, Thank you for this video. I did not like the way that my current handguards mounted to the handlebars, so bought the Zeta triple clamp mounts but could not figure out how to mount them! Your video made this very clear and I was able to attach the mounts to the upper triple clamp and reuse my old handguards. I enjoy your videos and learn something each time I watch one.

    I’m probably not the first one to notice this. You didn’t need the blinker genie. If the running light stays on as long as the blinker is off then you could have wired the new blinkers to both the running light wire and the blinker wire and have the correct result. The led will be on all the time and blink when you use your blinker

    so there are people saying that you don't need the blinker genie because at 14:40 you explain that honda has basically already done it for you, just in a weird way. but you can't actually wire it that way. in order to wire up a two wire blinker using those three wires from honda, you would basically have to short the +12V and the blinker wires together. theoretically, that would light the bulb constantly, then once the +12V goes away, the relay takes over.
    but the problem with that is that when you cut the +12V and send power from the relay instead, you would also be sending power backward along that +12V line, and that is almost certainly going to blow a transistor somewhere. possibly on the main computer.
    so you do have to use the blinker genie for a regular two wire blinker. the only way you could use honda's built in wiring for this is if you had two separate bulbs for running light and blinker. and there are some led units out there like that.
    now, having said all that... it is possible honda did the wiring purposely so that you could successfully wire it that way. but you would need to know that for a fact before trying it, because it would be stupid to risk blowing a transistor on your bike's main computer, or anywhere else.

    • @steffex

    "I think I'll slap some Zeta handguards with turn signals on my CRF300L."
    Let the nightmare begin....
    Seriously, it's a drag the way the front brake guide no longer works with the new triple tree mounted clamps and a drag the way the LED flasher doesn't fit in the original spot. Besides all the wiring hassles.
    Good to know what you are getting yourself into!

  • @twathammerracing
    @twathammerracing Před 2 lety +5

    Jake, I think you could just not use the blinker genie. You could run the running light positive wire and the blinker positive wire to the positive of the new blinker. When you activate the turn signal the bike cuts power from the running light and the blinker activates.

    • @Swesen
      @Swesen Před 2 lety

      I was about to say the same thing, the blinker genie is probably for bikes without running lights.

      There's still like 4-5v on the running circuit. It doesn't completely stop. Honda did that kinda silly.

    • @Swesen
      @Swesen Před 2 lety

      @@TheGardenSnake That sounds weird, it could be that the voltage is just floating.
      Basically nothing is connected to the circuit and the capacitance of that circuit has nowhere to reach ground(negative) and stays at some random voltage. Multimeters have really high input resistance, so as to not change the voltage measured, but if a load was connected the voltage might go to 0v, or 2-3v if the load is a diode.
      But you made it work so no point in trying to fix it.

    I just got my 300L and have been watching your vids in order. I noticed something with your wiring. I think you could have skipped the blinker genie and maintained the same functionality. Just wire both the blinker and drl to the positive. Since honda cuts the power to the drl when it blinks, it will be on until you hit the blinker then start blinking. Does this makes sense? Id like to run this same setup but would like to minimize hacking the oem wiring

    would it have been possible to connect the 'solid' (not solid when flasher circuit is running) positive wire and the flashing positive wire and then connect to the indicator? The running would be pushing 12V, then when you use the indicator the running stops and the indicator starts flashing at 12V. I'm curious cuz i really want to do this setup for the grom😂

All the holes are slotted so you can shift one way or another before tightening. Also you can always get the raw aluminum ones so you can tweak them to fit perfectly. Trust these give you more possibilities then normal clamp on mounts. Those you are always fighting the cables.
