I've heard that if you have the 3 prong rubber band go over your arm and then to your thumb you will get better results.

I would head towards more of the ledge area....out in the open is not where u gonna find fish. The ledge gives you more cover to hide from the fish so that they cant see you as much. Just something to think about.
