i think this ending quote from Xiao in the chasm quest sums up the development of Xiao and his relationship with the Traveler.
we know in many voice lines, that xiao is slowly changing because of the traveler's presence in his life and I think their interactions in this quest proves it. Xiao acknowledges the fact he doesnt have to distance himself from others (especially the Traveler) and that he isnt alone. there are always people willing to stay by his side no matter what. I think when Xiao said that "even the darkest heart have room for those they cherish" he is referring to himself. No matter how tainted he is, just like his sibling yakshas, they will always have room for those they hold dear and I think the traveler is one of those people left Xiao cherishes.

As a person who choosed Lumine and mains Xiao and ship them. I always knew they had a special connection both of them they are truly canon I adore them both they are my favourite characthers It's obvious how Xiao loves and appreciates Lumine she is like hus light on hus dark world comsumed by his karmic debt they both always nelt my heart and make me very happy words can't express how much I love the ship They just really love and care for eachother I have them on the same team. they have there own room in my teapot (separate beds) on charcthers display they are aside eachother they are my 2 strongest characthers they are are my wallpapers in my different devices I just need them I know many people prefers Aether and Xiao but the ships hit different... Xiaolumi was the first ship I saw when I started playing Genshin so they got my heart since the very beginning btw In my teapot I did a special place for Xiao and Lumine...

YESSSSSS🥹🥹🥹 I can't agree more with you! there so cute ahhh xiaolumi 4 life!💗🥹 but I do prefer aether to be with ayaka more❤(in my opinion). Anyway I can't even put the words how they complement each other so well, especially in the recent lantern rite event. I love everything about them and like you said this is also my first ship when I started playing this game, I truly love their chemistry and everything that has to do with them❤❤ xiao needs lumine and likewise. its the cutest ship💗💗💗lol I also have a special place for xiao and lumine in my Serenitea pot AND have them in the same team as well🥹❤❤ but she is dendro lol😅💗 indeed xiaolumi is supremacy!!❤❤❤ :D
