As asian myself , racism is crazy and its a lot to handle . People joke around and think it does not affect us but it does . And at that time watching BTS receiving this kind of hate , it was hard and its still not over but I think they handle it with maturity and its the best to just not give these people attention . I am so proud of them !
Yes I was made fun off in my school the lunches my mother packed me, and many things I think bts contribute greatly because now I am in college and have my food packed sometimes and they were like “what is this” etc I’m sure it’s also because of college but even my little sister was not made fun off and they started calling korean food as “cool” now because they use to call asian food “stinky” in school but my food is so much better than your cold sandwich (lol just an expression I promise you I like cold sandwiches)
Yessss...im gratefull they handle that with mature and just ignore all negative vibes...
Other examples is there has been ongoing lawsuits in Harvard and many colleges where asians are discriminated against for people who have the same GPA, same grade, 90 percent of them chose someone from a different race in comparison there was a statistic done the people of other races got accepted but scored lower and had a lower GPA than asians who were turned away (and the media barely talk about/ people don’t know about it also during covid asians were attacked from their house burned, business set on fire, to being punched (I believe a couple were also k11ed you can just look it up online (the covid brings the worst into people because the Spanish flu, the 2012 MERS, Ebola, etc many of it comes from other countries and no one wants this to happen yet the hate towards asian people at that time was horrible just look up “asian attacks during covid (more than 9000 related asian hate have been reported

Jin wrote Suga a letter: "The members will support you because you are Bangtan's pride..." The letter that Jin wrote to Suga was emotional. All the members were supposed to write a letter to ARMY (Japan, 2014), but Jin wrote to Yoongi. During those years, Yoongi had a difficult time. And his hyung wrote him a letter of support! Suga shows by actions how much he loves them. Suga' shoulder where he had a scar from the accident, he got a tattoo of 7...he was healed by the members. In every interview and at his concerts, he only mentioned his brothers! J-hope wanted to leave the group, but the members and RM said that nothing would work without him. He trusted them. That's what sets them apart from other bands. This is their connection. The main answer to their success is their FAMILY, TEAM relationships.
And also BTS was and remains the 7th artist whose priorities are honesty and ARMY. How grateful we are to them and how grateful they are to us! We are their partners 🤝💜

Ok so the guitar solo at the end of First Love is something that was added for the live performances. And it actually is a melody from another one of Yoongi’s songs, So Far Away. I absolutely LOVE the stage mix of First Love cause of that added guitar at the end! Unfortunately the only way to listen to is through videos taken of his live performances of that song! It’s not on streaming anywhere. 🥲 As far as I know. I’d love to stand corrected on that 😂

just wanna point out that Namjoon and the members never plan what they are going to say during speeches. So the members have mentioned that when he spoke Korean at the end they were immensely proud. You can see it in their faces as soon as they realize it too. Such a cute and memorable moment.

As someone who got to experience all the ups and downs of being an army for 10 years, it's... a whole lot of things. It's a rollercoaster. Happiness, anger, sadness, anxiousness, etc. They all boil down to... pride. Bittersweet as they have been, I feel nothing but pride on myself, ARMY, and BTS, for we have come out of the fire stronger and still holding each other's hands.
Through watching videos like this you'll see what BTS and ARMY went through and had to endure. We would literally trend praise for BTS when we see haters trending bad stuff about BTS. That's why they love us because... not only do we support them, but also make sure they're kept safe from such bad things. But that's wishful thinking. Inevitably it reaches them. And we just endure.
That's where the overprotectiveness of the ARMY comes from. From the will to protect BTS's sanity, music, message, memories, etc. Like there was literally a time where it was widely known that if you speak badly of BTS, you will lose your job. XD
I just love them so much.

ARMY took almost half of the seats on the BBMAs and they were cheering for BTS sooooo loudly whenever a member would look at the audience seats. People around them were confused as to why the audience was loud. In the part where the Best Social Artist award nominees are being shown, BTS got the loudest cheer. I felt so proud of the ARMYs who attended the event. They showed BBMAs how big BTS is with their cheers!
I freaking love the part in Reflection by Joon when he sings “I wish I could love myself” then army sings back “we love you” this continues throughout tour and the progress it has made blows my mind because Joon replies eventually near the end of the tour with “Yes I do love myself” that shit is so powerful it stirred and birthed the love yourself era where we took that phrase and widened its power to try and help EVERYONE and not just joon into loving themselves.
You probably won’t see this but I wanted to share that at 32:20 where the boys noticed that the army bombs are purple, this was one of the events armys would prepare during the tour. The army bombs you have (ver. 3) are the newest so they can change colors. But the first army bomb (ver. 1) couldn’t. And so during the concerts, armys would prepare colored plastic bags and wrap it on the army bomb and that’s what the boys saw and why they were amazed.
i’m teary eyed i miss them so much when i watch documentaries like this, it kinda just hits me how much of my youth was influenced by them. like. they’re such good role models, you know? and going older, they will always be a part of me and that is something that i will always be proud of and cherish.
I m just thinking of how RM molded the group’s core to incorporate good values within the group, and it shows in how they handle all the challenges coming their way. He is a good leader. But also the members have their own good core values. This is why they have good synergy, not in just their talents, but their values as well. They are truly a resilient group. I admire them. They teach us to persevere and to be thankful for both the good and bad things in life. To always end up better for it. I love BTS! 💜

I skipped my classes just to watch BBMAs back then. Cried out of happiness when they won.
The concert versions of BTS’ songs are fantastic. ARMY has long been asking HYBE to release albums of the concert versions of songs, but unfortunately they haven’t done it yet. What they do have are all their concerts in DVD and Blu-ray versions, and that’s where you can listen to them. For this one, you’ll want the Wings concert DVDs/ Blu-ray.
There are some concert versions on SoundCloud, fan posted of course, but still there.
Everytime I see some OT7 content, I get sort of emotional. I miss Jinnie, Yoongi and Hobi so much and I miss seeing all seven of them together!! 😭💜
Well about the hate comments they get, during those days their English wasn't that good and Namjoon used to translate for them, he translated all those hate comments into good comments , taking all the hate upon himself and not letting the boys feel the hate they were getting. The reality is that it is not the success of Kpop, it is the success of BTS. Army hates when that industry takes credit for everything BTS has done for them, without BTS kpop would have no meaning.

I’m sorry but your comment isn’t true. The fact that you are not a K-pop fan, does not change the fact that K-pop has been popular for years. BTS has been around for over 10 years but a lot of people who call themselves ARMY, have only known about BTS for the last two years or so. The fact that most international fans didn’t know BTS until after 2016, doesn’t change the fact that they were active and had fans before that. Same for K-pop as a whole, K-pop has been around for decades and they have had a solid following all along. BTS put K-pop on the world’s map but that doesn’t give you the right to downplay the hard work of groups before them. BTS constantly talk about the Korean artist and groups that inspired them to pursue music yet you act like their only inspiration is themselves. You need to humble yourself if you are going to speak on behalf of ARMYs because BTS themselves aren’t even as cocky and arrogant as some of you which says something. You aren’t paying attention to their messages and advice about remaining humble.
And you are trash talking the K-pop industry as if American award shows haven’t mistreated BTS, as if American show host didn’t just use them bc of their popularity (Jimmy Kimmel, James Corden), as if American artist haven’t worked with them for clout (Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth). You Western music fans turned BTS fans love to hate on K-pop but you don’t say anything about the racist U.S industry that STILL does not accept them 🤚🏾🙄

The end of the live version of First Love with the guitar is So Far Away also by Yoongi. INCREDIBLE SONG that also the vocal line sang on tour. But how he just added the swell at the end to be So Far Away melody is ridiculous. I sent it to Abby in Instagram DM a while ago when y’all reacted to First Love. I’ll send again!

Oh my gosh the voting!! We were doing our own calculations so we knew right away that we were so far ahead the competition it was literally unbelievable. We thought that beliebers were planning a mass voting attack-where instead of voting right away, fans would wait until a later period to vote all at once to immediately overtake the lead and catch the other fan base off guard- and were genuinely scared pretty much right up until voting closed. We were like “He only needs a million fans to hit the max vote limit 3 days in a row or half a million for a week to win!!!” we really had no idea what western fanbases were like lmao
you’d think it’s only twitter people who know nothing disrespecting them like that but there are sooo many artists, radio hosts, paparazzis & news reporters that are just SO ignorant, they refuse to do even just a little bit of research to understand how the kpop industry works and what sets BTS apart from it. this generates these artists joking around and mocking bts, radio hosts fighting with army on twitter, paparazzis throwing racist insults to BTS faces on their first red carpet, etc etc. there’s too much, and it’s the main reason why army are so protective of bangtan. the worst part is that BTS are SUCH kind humans.
My favorite part of this episode is the part where they showed BTS live streaming with ARMY while they were waiting at the Billboard Awards lounge. It was so touching to see how they included ARMY in their first American major award show. Even after the show, they live streamed again with ARMY rather than attending after-parties. I am so proud of them!!

Here’s HOW ARMYs are powerful. I was there for their 2nd win Billboard awards…in VEGAS - to give u an idea of the mixed crowd you’re surrounded by. I don’t know if ppl or even army know this but prob more than half of the crowd who were able to get tickets were NOT army! So with that being said… EACH ONE OF US GO HARD FOR BTS!!! We are loud when we need to and we will cheer the loudest for our guys. No matter how many strange looks we get all around us why? Because BTS deserve all the recognition.💜🙌🏽
Hi Daniel, in 2017, when BTS won their 1st Billboard Award, a lot of American artists did not know who they were. I remember a shot of Ne-Yo asking who BTS was and saying he's going to look them up. Because of how the audience reacted with cheers, it made him curious about them. I hope part 16 is coming soon. Love y'all! 💜
BTS met with President Biden at the White House last year to discuss Asian hate. They are so much more than just a k-pop group. They are one of a kind special and will never be duplicated. 💜

I wasn't a fan yet during bbmas but the racism was crazy and not just from fans but from journalists and the way media treated them to their faces on the red carpet. I was here for the grammys and every time huge waves of racism come and it makes me so sick. something about their success really pisses some awful people off and they think it's just ok to make some crazy disrespectful jokes about them like they aren't people. It is so enraging. and bts are such kind people and mind their own business yet are constantly picked apart.

It is fun to see how happy and proud you were when BTS won. What a lovely fate for you to choose BTS to react to. A perfect fit for all 4 of you. "RM for President". He really could be someday. He's highly intelligent enough. He loves and truly cares for his Korean people and homeland. But there would have to be one stipulation. He Could NOT hold onto his own passport or any other personal items. He would have to hire an assistant to specifically protect and hold on to his personal items 24 x 7. I know you understand that. And he would clearly understand that too! Final note about current Asian racism. BTS did not receive a Grammy nomination. They were just announced. It's sad because Jimin's song "Like Crazy" was a number 1 hit. And so was JK's song "Seven". No other KPop person or group were nominated either. If they pass up on giving JK a Grammy next year for "Standing Next To You"...we will know it's rigged. Actually we already know that.

i would also like to add that during this voting season, we weren’t just against these big-name artists. Other kpop fandoms rallied together to vote for a different artist to get them to win. To try and make sure that our boys DONT. But we persevered and voted and got them their first award. We won against everybody who didn’t believe and wanted to bring them down.

Wow. Watching Gabriel connecting AAPI with this really makes me realize BTS’ influence and impact. You are four people with good intentions and saying self reflective statements like, “where were we? Under a rock?” We are all in our own bubbles and it’s so important to reflect on our own process of understanding or grappling with racism. Asian American Pacific Islander [AAPI] is more recently in media because of COVID and racist beliefs that the global pandemic was the “fault” of China and people then did violent and hateful attacks on Asians. An Asian girl was dragged by someone who grabbed her arm while he was driving and drove with her dragging next to car for two blocks while the person yelled about anti Asian hate. It was awful and continues in micro ways now but in 2020-2022, I walked with a personal safety alarm on my keys just in case for fear of being attacked. So seeing people do their own reflective work of trying to empathize with other oppressed populations is healing. Thanks Gabriel.

Talking about how they still are so appreciative till this day...I will suggest you watch Jungkook’s latest interview with Zane Lowe...this is for his Golden promo, after the huge success of Seven...he still talks about how important tant Army is to him and how grateful he is! Jre of JREKML's part about kpop fans going ham - so true, and then that gave me MAMA flashbacks. The accounts made to vote, voting from different IP addresses (10 accounts per IP address), the tweets and retweets, correcting the hashtags because haters would pretend to be ARMY accounts and tweet with slightly different hashtags so that the retweets from them or people copying/pasting their tweets wouldn't count, learning how to tweet/vote correctly so it wouldn't count as spamming.....I feel like I might be mixing some things between MAMA and BBMA but still, the stress was real for both. A lot of friends and enemies were made those days...

Also, when they were at the BB awards, JK said during commercial breaks that they try not to look into army’s as they were cheering very loud and they know that most artist dont know them and they want to be respectful of them too.. those little things are really endearing!!!

I love your reaction to this series! I have such a deep respect for every member of BTS and even now, I see new reactors who don’t appreciate them like you do. They just want the views and you guys really research and learn about who BTS are as individuals and as a group. It saddens me that even today, they are getting hate from Solo Stans or others as they do their individual work or are scrutinized for the smallest thing not realizing they are now all in their 30’s or close to it and some toxic ARMY or other fandoms still treat them like kids and throw hate their way. I see this on Weverse, other media, and everything is just rumours. They were not even nominated for the Grammys (Scammys) this year for any individual category and that’s typical. I’m still a proud ARMY that knows they deserve the best and always consider their fans! Even JK put out an apology for not feeling like he performed well under bad conditions on the Today show outdoors. I was so happy to see him smile when he did an impromptu short concert at Times Square where ARMY raced as soon as they heard…I think it was 30 mins warning and the place was packed! This is the love that BTS has to perform, and as Summer said, shows resilience! Thank you so much CCW💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 They definitely deserved that Billboard and I loved how they got ready and RM’s speech!

I don't know if somebody answered questions about "First love"... So this longer version was only made for concert, they ofted do remixes for concert and you can't listen to this songs. BUT this end is know actually bc it is taken from "So far away" (feat Suran) song from his first mixtape Agust D, that come a little after "Wings", so when they were geting ready for tour he remixed ending part from "So far away", add melody, guitar is from this song too. (But guitar is only in original song and a say it bc there is second version)
And to add fact about this second version for first anniversary of his first mixtape he made new version of "So far away" that feat Jin and JK and then he remixed at the end First love instad this guitar end he used in concert.... I think it all made great circle. Hehe

I watched this. I was so excited. I'm a single mom of 3 and at that time we didn't have wifi or cable we had an HD antenna and it would only pick up in certain areas of the house. So that night I prepared dinner early and mad sure the channel for the bbmas would come in. And I told my kids font touch the TV. If u move it at all it will lose signal. And at that time they were all still pretty young. My oldest was 10 and my baby was 4. And right before it aired I mean like 1 minute one of them bumped the tv and it lost signal. I started bawling . Imagine an almost 30 year old woman just crying over not being able to see a music award show.so my mom bless her soul stretch the antenna outside in the rain and held it there so I could watch them win this award. I will never forget that moment.
