  • In this video, we're making a clock made of clocks! If would like some more information on how this was done, check out my Instructable below that walks through the process step by step!
    www.instructables.com/Clockce...
    This is actually a replica of the ClockClock designed and built by Humans Since 1982. I came across the clock a few years ago and I was instantly mesmerized by its synchronized movement and minimalistic beauty. If you haven't seen it, take a look at their site as it truly is a work of art.
    That said, bespoke art usually comes at a price. In this case, $6k - $11k depending on the finish.. If you have the means, I'd highly recommend you pick one up. But if you're like me and don't have a spare $6k laying around, then you're in luck because today I'm going to show you how you can build a simpler version of one for around $200 with some basic tools and a 3D printer!
    Hoping to make more projects and videos like this to with the goal of inspiring folks to create and make some things of their own! I've seen a lot channels about wood working, 3D printing, and programing, but on this channel we'll be combining all those elements to make some really cool things!
    That said, if you have any projects you’d like to see made, let me know in the comments below!
    Thanks and have a great day! :)

    I cannot thank you enough for going through this huge project step by step with so much depth. I'm currently living abroad and am going to try to make this when I get back to the states in July. I'm going to try to have it done by Christmas 2023 so I can gift it to my parents for their new house. Thanks again!

  • @Duraltia

    @03:57 You kno'... Adding something like a 0.3mm Chamfer to the edges contacting the first layer sure does help with preventing such clearance related cleanups without compromising dimensions and also makes the part that extra little bit more comfortable to hold if the intention is to handle it ( not exactly the case with yours but you get the idea... ).
    Also regarding the minute hand shaft - Maybe don't print one and instead use a cutoff piece of filament and adjust the passthrough hour shaft accordingly ( with like a 3mm bore tapering to like 1.8mm ( make it 1.5mm and _ream_ it to 1.8mm ) at the ends to reduce friction with a perfect fit? Can't get a cheaper and smoother shaft than that without using round stock and a bearing.
    And yea... @17:05 - If my movie experience is anything to go by you pretty much want to start running like hell: czcams.com/video/9m7hPlL-v4A/video.html

    • @madebymorgan547
      @madebymorgan547  Před 2 lety +1

      HAHAHA This made my day!!! Happy to report, I survived the explosion!
      Good point on the chamfer. I started doing this on my prints after this project and it worked exactly as you described. I also recently discovered a setting called "initial layer offset" in Cura that seems to helped with this a ton too.
      Also, interesting idea on using a piece of filament for the shaft and offsetting the bore. Like you mentioned, it really only needs to be constrained at the face and gear so that would be a really good way to reduce the friction along the length of the shaft.
      Thanks for the view, laugh, and suggestions!

  • @pinaz993

    Serious issue: McMaster-Carr provide those 3d models, yes. However, I believe it is against their EULA to print the parts using said models. I recommend reading the EULA to make sure you haven't broken it.
