Thanks so much for watching! - Zábava
Every time I remember a cartoon I used to watch as a kid there is an 80% chance it's a Canadian cartoon
Yeah, and for me, 80% of the time they are made by the same people as Total Drama.
I know right?! 😂
Ik almost all of the ones on here I watched
Same
Yeah most shows like classical Franklin, Inspector Gadget, Arthur and even Ed, Edd and Eddy are Canadian lol.
So much nostalgia for Grojband.
Super cool transition to internet fame.
I remember on the official website for that show I could make my own transition. Nostalgia at its finest.
Same
used to have a massive crush on laney when i was like 10
10 years on June 10 2023
I remember when it was on Boomerang a while back.
Grojband is crazy though. Imagine that the person who is literally trying to destroy you is actually your ghostwriter.
Haha! You said Ghostwriter and not…. Well you know! 😂😂😂
@@matthewreynoso6904 ?
@@Vergil_Wearing_A_Mask Ghost Rider! You know? From Marvel Comics?

being an actual Canadian, our animated productions tend to be very hit or miss.
and A LOT of animation snobs tend to look down at our animated productions
That surprises me honestly, I’m Australian and I’m pretty sure most of the childhood cartoons I loved were Canadian
@@hxrleydxrling9662 it really shows how those snobs' mentality basically boils down to: "Anime Style good! Flash Animation bad!"
From what I've seen, the stuff that's outsourced from american-written productions or other countries is usually the best stuff. (Ed, Edd, & Eddy, SVTFOE, etc). Although there are exeptions.
Yknow what? We made Kid Vs Kat. We deserve at least SOME of the flack we get.
As a Canadian, our shows are either the best shit you’ve ever seen or literal bottom of the barrel trash. No inbetween
The craziest part of all of these is always when you recognize the footage but have absolutely no clue what show it's from, because it's been so long since you last saw it but you know you've DEFINITELY seen it before.
I had that happen with dragon booster, funny thing though.
It aired the year I was born, I physically could not have watched it.
My favourite Canadian cartoon would honestly have to be Terrance and Philip
Let’s go look for treasure!
“Hey Terrence!”
“Yes Philip?”
“PFFFFFFTTT!”
“HHAHAHAAHAHAHAA!”
I feel like many Canadian shows have gotten more into toilet humour ever since T&P came along
...........why?
@@JustMiaMakingStuffit’s like they saw it and thought “well now we gotta”
Grojband and Grossology were literally my childhood. I loved them so much
Grojband was unironically awesome
I don't really remember grossology but I love grojband, I only wish its songs were longer than 1 min max
I remember Grojband. It was good
yh I remember watching it on pop in 2014 (pop is a uk only channel)
Those two were my childhood cartoons
I loved watching Detentionare. It was like a cool mix of Gravity Falls but in a high school instead of a hick town. It never aired in the US, so I didn't see it until a few years ago and found it really intriguing.
Does it have an ending/finale?
@@adil0028 no
@@adil0028 it basically does, they just throw in a tease at the end like there's gonna be a next season. literally if you just ignore that one scene, it's a satisfying ending on all fronts.
@@Ztrotex ah shit gonna have to skip on it then
CN got the rights, but then decided to put it on their website for streaming ONLY and put up episodes out of order. It flopped hard there due to that.
On behalf Canadian animators and Canadian voice actors and more i want to thank you for giving us most of our childhood.
Like Canadian content like MLP and CZcamsr JJ McCallough
beinv Aussie, we got all these shows as well
Your conquest to awaken the childhood memories of your entire audience continues to impress.
never seen detentioners but damn the art style is amazing even the colors are so leveled, this wouldve made a perfect case of "netflix needs to pick this up"
Still praying Netflix picks it up. It's so good. I recommend checking it out!
it’s ducking amazing
Yeah me too
@@bringbackdetentionaire5545 yeah me too
Watch it. Seasons 3 and 4 especially.
You got to love how so many Canada cartoon feel so PG-13 even though it target children. No cartoon show would ever feel like they in high school these day for parents thinking it too mature for kids when in reality, your children will grow up into teen few year later, having a cartoon that feel like for teens without swear words and/or mature context really make the kids excite for high school and get ready for what to come to them beside hard study...
Apparently it's because Canadian shows have looser regulations about what they're allowed to show, that's why they feel edgier and more risky than the American counterparts.
That's probably why so many of them failed in the U.S.
That’s because canadians dosen’t treat they’re cartoon watching kids audience like babies.
@@thesnesgeek welp, time to move to canada
Idk why, but Canadian cartoons are always bangers.
Actually we have more garbage cartoons than good ones TRUST me
@@michaelbullen3104 but the ones that are good are *good*
@@michaelbullen3104 Angelina is not one of those hat shows good Billam has a nice video on it
@@bloofrozo agreed lol the ones that are good do slap but most of what is available over here is crap so we just resort to watching stuff from the us the uk and japan
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 lol I have been able to see ol’ angela in a different light over the years, it’s certainly a very absurd show but it’s so absurd it’s kind of enjoyable
It's nice to see these Canadian cartoons get covered, with Total Drama pretty much eclipsing all of them in popularity.
I swear I spent most of the YooHoo segment like “why does this remind me of Cow & Chicken?” and by the end I was like “oh guess that explains it”.
I wasn't exposed to Detentionaire back when it came out but discovered it as an adult and absolutely loved it.
It's the exact kind of cartoon I would've loved as a teenager with its dark comedy, serialized mystery plot and memorable characters.
I'm sad that it ended on a cliffhanger but it was such a fun ride that I'm just happy it exists.
Yeah me too
less like a cliffhanger and more like a satisfying ending with a next season tease at the very last minute
Detentionaire and Grojband are so underrated!! You guys have no idea how many good shows we had on Teletoon back in the early 2010's!!
FUN FACT: Did you know that the voice actors for Corey and Laney also voiced Jay and Mickey and Amy and Samey respectively?
From what shows?
@@matthewreynoso6904 Both pairs of characters are from Total Drama. Jay and Mickey are from the spinoff the Ridonculous Race and Amy and Samey are from Pakihtew Island.
@@PM_VA Ok I never saw those spin-offs but I know them though! Thanks a lot my dude!
@@matthewreynoso6904 Pakihtew is not a spin-off. Look it up and you'll see what I mean.
Thank you regardless :)
Corey's VA also voices Irwin from Detentionaire
Grossology always had this really slick art style. It's intro had the same vibe as the Incredibles with cool, minimalist character designs similar the jazzy music. The hallmark of the show was gross stuff but you can tell the creators went the extra mile to give the show unique visual identity with great art direction. That in addition to the educational aspect make Grossology a quality show.
Yo I thought the same thing about the intro looking like The Incredibles. Good times!
Grossology had one of the most interesting bad guys. Kid Rot felt like he belonged in a completely different show.
Yeah i love that bug woman so much
Kid Rot was the simp before simping was a thing

8:02 suprised that Diamondbolt didn't point out that was Chris mcclain voice actor
Even I thought that was the voice of Chris
Of this batch, Grossology is the one I remember the most. Was a fun little cartoon that used gross out humor and situations well.
Same. I remember it a lot. It felt like a mix of The Incredibles and Kim Possible. That show was the GOAT.
I loved Detentionare, Total Drama, 6teen and Grojband. Those were some bussin shows
6teen, Stoked and Total Drama were the epitome of my childhood. Especially Stoked. I loved this show. Thank you for bringing back this amazing piece of history
Total Drama island series is the king of Canadian cartoons
For Detentionaire, the finale of Season 2 reveals the big mystery of who really pulled the prank. Seasons 3 and 4 got really weird, if that finale description didn't make it clear at all.
It was cancelled because it didn’t do well in the US since Cartoon Network didn’t air it in order and skipped a lot of episodes in the US. they planned for 8 seasons but got cancelled after 4
Now we just need a sequel where Bolt looks at Storm Hawks, Chaotic, Jimmy Two-Shoes, Wayside, World of Quest, Di-Gata Defenders, Team Galaxy and/or Spider Riders.
Or just Spider Riders, we need him to see what letting Canada co-produce an anime looks like.
We need justice for chaotic and storm hawks
Spider Riders, Jacob Two-Two and Di-Gata Defenders
the spider riders theme carried the show
I rewatched Chaotic a few years back, and di-gata just a few months ago, thanks for reminding me of spider riders, imma put that on the top of my watchlist
you CANT just list of names and dredge up forgotten memories like that this feels like a targeted attack
Detentionaire was the best show I watched as a kid. I still rewatch it to this day
Oh wow. Someone actually talking about the English... Dub(?) airing of Yoohoo and Friends. I was starting think that no one would. "Bat-shit" really does describe it well. And yeah, it kinda does feel like an abridged series.
I feel... At peace, I think(?), now that I know that someone has not only talked about, but also mentioned the Korean-to-English/Cow and Chicken thing.
I remember being so unbelievably obsessed with that. I feel weirdly validated
Canada has to be based, they showed straight up boobs on total drama
I thought YooHoo and Friends was just a fever dream, so seeing this was like a jumpscare in the best way possible.
I remember doing 5 marathons of Grojband back before 2020. I used to know everything about the lore and dynamics.
I need to know, do Corey and Lanny end up together by any chance?
@@i.am.mbongeni brook I wish I remembered everything, remember this was from back in the day😭😭😭, but from what I do remember, they do recognise each other's feeling in the finale after fighting alien counterparts of Grojband on the moon.
@@gigachad5563 thank you💯
The story behind YooHoo & Friends sounds like a mixture of Power Rangers and Ghost Stories
The Grojband BO song has been embedded in my head for 8 years now and I still can't get it out
I didn't think you could find even more obscure cartoons but here we are lol
While Canada was never 100% amazing with animation, the occasional bangers they did make made up my childhood, and I must thank them.
Also Can’t Miss Thursdays were legit the hypest shit as a kid.
Half of these shows I barely remember, but I definitely remember Detentionaire. 😊
I don't CARE how many nostalgia based videos you make. I love remembering and discovering more cartoons ✨👄✨
Detentionaire RULES! My favorite thing on ABC 3 (Not that there was much competition some days 😆). I even recently rewatched it cause nostalgia, and the serialisation is INSANE! They set seeds that pay off SEASONS later! And it really is the epitome of the line "Well that escalated quickly". Still waiting for a resolution to The Lizard Invasion Of Earth! By the end of the series, you kind of forget it began with just some high schooler getting in trouble cause of a prank...AND I LOVE IT FOR THAT! 😂
I remember these cartoons. what a throw back
FINALLY someone actually remembers Grojband! My brother and I were OBSESSED with that show when it used to air
NO WAY YOOHOO AND FRIENDS??
That show was SO weird to me as a preteen, it was legitimately the most bizarre thing on ABC3, i still feel like half of the episodes i watched were fever dreams.
Edit: I hate that you've reminded me of Grossology. I hope you get a pebble in your shoe on a long walk.
Im a Canadian! I grew up with Grossology and it has a lot of cool science facts! They had an episode where carnivorous plants got mutated. After that I spent more time with my grandma doing gardening and taking care of my own carnivorous plants! Good times
i've seen stoked, detentionnaire and grojband. i've had a visceral reaction to yoohoo because i've never seen the fluffballs but i've seen father time and the business people, and i've seen nothing. grojband was definitely early in my era of abc3 (now called abcme)
Slugterra was what I always loved to watch. It had a really good plot and was always entertaining
12:35 I think that's the most hilarious cartoon whispering I've ever heard 🤣
"Woosa, woosa, woosa, woosa!"
I'm an Aussie and the most nostalgic year for me was 2009-2014 it was on the channel ABC3. Thank you for this video, for reminding me about my childhood that I miss plenty of and all of and the memories I've had with these cartoons with my bro and sis NOSTALGIA😊
13:27 Bro turned into Godzilla 😂😂
I don't remember the dragon one, but the rest of these are still some of my favourite shows. The yoohoo and friends theme song is literally a verbal stim for me.
Also when I saw the post for this episode I looked at the picture and my first thought was "Huh, Lyon Smith was in 3 of these." Which I think speaks about how much Canadian cartoons I watch. That man is in way too many of my favorite cartoons.
Canada: **Leads the charge into Beijing during world war 3, Cures HIV and successfully makes a Hex girls cartoon**
DiamondBolt: Nope still not forgiving you for Angela Anaconda.
They made a hex girls cartoon?
12:22
Dude's confidence is so high he's defying the laws of physics !
14:47 god i loved this show growing up, a pal of mine didn't have the stomach for some facts
Sameeee.
This has woken memories in me that I did not realise I had. The nostalgia is palpable.
Back when Grojband aired I was 12 and heavily obsessed to where i ran blogs, decided i wanted to be an animator, and am still friends with Corey's VA, he also now teaches at my uni.
Grojband also propelled me to study what i do! It also made me love Canadian animation for its weird charm, tho VERY HIT OR MISS, some of them really suck but i think thats the beauty of it
He seems like a cool dude, and while Grojband is him at his best I also liked him in Magi-Nation, Bakugan, and even the old Sailor Moon dub (which is one of his first gigs).
If Capcom had held onto using Toronto VAs for a little longer maybe he could've been X.
Randomly throughout the day I’ll just have a grojband song get stuck in my head for days at a time..
it’s great, loved that show
9:24 I can't be the only one that has Vietnam flashbacks from that sound
You and others deserve a veteran's discount
Grojband is best described as "Guy uses his sister's trauma dumping for his music"
11:09 I like how it looks like he's that
Grojband just gave me a massive hit of nostalgia
Grojband was my childhood
Lanay in Grojband looks pretty much like Kim in Scott Pilgrim
oh my god
Grojband is a show no one forgets after having seen it before!
This isn't a cartoon, but you need to include My Babysitter's a Vampire one day, it's a Canadian show that was produced by the same production company that produced Total Drama (so even the live action Canadian shows somehow link back to Total Drama)
I literally ended up watching, loving, and getting hyperfixated on the entirety of YooHoo and Friends thanks to a friend of mine showing me it in this very video.
So in a roundabout way I have this video to thank for that
Yoohoo and friends fan!! WHOOOO 🔥🔥🔥
I used to love watching grojband on kix back in the day ( the uk version of boomerang or abc3 ) thanks for finally talking about it. If you are gonna make another one of these can you please cover pirate express. I promise you won't regret it.

Hello some dude from StarCraft
Fantastic video, Diamondbolt!! Thank you for reminding me Grojband existed I forgot I watched it at all.
As someone who recently binged Detentionaire, I gotta agree with everything you said. While not the best in terms of visuals, the mystery and characters are honestly really great. I would definitely recommend checking out the whole show at some point in the future.
Detentionaire had some the craziest lore and story that I’ve ever seen in a kids show. Blew my mind as a 12 year old. I rewatched it again recently for fun with some friends as a 21 year old and I’ve gotta say it’s aged very well!
The thumbnail seeing the Grojband kid unclogged a memory of mine. never rlly liked it, but seeing it took me back
Vids like these bring back memories of watching YTV and Teletoon in the 2010s! I remember seeing lots Detentionaire reruns late at night, really loved the character designs and background art on that show. Always cool to see youtubers watching them!
Hey Adam I just wanted to thank you for making these videos. They always help me feel better when I’m down and shit. Thanks for the great content
For me personally like half of these are certified hood classics
it’s been at least 12 years since i last watched an episode of yoohoo and friends but i Still know all the words to the theme song and it Still gets randomly stuck in my head to this day
We have been waiting for this, these are some of your best as well as the rip stuff.
Omg That yoohoo and friends unlocked a core memory! I can’t believe I forgot all about that absolutely insane show! I don’t think I’ve seen or heard about it since I was like 9, what the heck
15:54 I remember watching that episode as a kid and found it unsettling and somewhat disturbing
Fartzilla?
So a few corrections about YooHoo and Friends, apparently the original version eventually got a much more faithful english dub for Amazon Prime Video in 2011.
And that "3rd season that was never dubbed" mentioned in 6:15 was actually for the original show, not the David Feiss version (which has its own separate wikipedia page.)
The David Feiss version was released in 2012, a year earlier than season 2 of the original show. So it only "followed" the events of the very first season.
And one more thing: the English cast for YooHoo to the Rescue includes, I kid you not:
Kira Buckland (who did Jolyne Cujoh), Bryce Papenbrook (who did Eren Jaegar) and Kyle Herbert (who did Escanor).
And that's just the US cast. Yes, this show has *another* English cast for the UK.
Man it's always a great treat to go down memory lane.
And now I want to go back and watch most of these again all these years later.
Teletoon and YTV were the best channels growing up.
Dententionair, total drama, stoked and a lot of the other shows you covered were some of the shows I loved as a kid and still sometimes watch till this day. Some very classic shows and I loved that you talked about some these!
I watched Stoked on TV when I was younger, and the episode mentioned the two boys having a "bromance". I then proceeded to ask my gay uncle and his husband if they had a bromance, to which they cackled
I found out recently that so many cartoon shows I used to watch when I was younger were all technically Canadian because they were made by Nelvana
Edit: Two of the shows in this video are from that studio

Grojband was one of my absolute faves
I recently rewatched all of Detentionaire in order, and its actually so damn good and I hate that it ended on a cliffhanger that was never resolved, I would be so damn excited if they were to revive it for another season or two
another banger video. Grojband was a banger show fr
Thank you for talking about Grojband i loved that cartoon
I remember watching Grojband back in the summer of 2013 when I was 10 years old. Even though I didn't get to experience the full series at that time, it wasn't until I rediscovered it in October 2023 where I would watch the entire series and I fell in love with it again, not to mention it had a few Halloween-related episodes in which I picked the perfect time of year to rewatch it.
While I'm quick to notice a few coincidental similarities to Phineas and Ferb (i.e. the genius, cunning main protagonist has an antagonistic older sister, main protagonist's best friend has a crush on him to which he's clueless, the older sister has a crush on the laid-back, popular, dreamy boy, songs in every episode, etc.)-another show I also love, I did enjoy the show for its overall humor, writing, characters, messages, and songs. Even the animation looks smooth and brand new despite the show being over a decade old.
Now I'm 21, and not only does this show inspire me to pursue music, but I'm also holding out for Cartoon Network or another more merciful channel to air reruns of this show so it could get revived for a second season-one more focused on fleshing out the characters and expanding upon the story. Nevertheless, Grojband will always have a special place in my heart and I can safely say it's a wicked million times BETTER than Teen Titans Go, which can go bite Bender's shiny metal ass. (Funny that I made a Futurama reference at the end because that show and Family Guy were revived thanks in part to CN for airing reruns of the show on Adult Swim after Fox canceled them back in the early 2000's.)
Grossology and Detentionaire are my favorites, especially their theme songs.
4:48 i had the gray and blue one at the front when i was a kid, its still in the house too.
Holy fucking shit IT’S TIME FOR A NEW DIAMONDBOLT VIDEO ABOUT OLD VIDEOS I REPEAT IT IS TIME
Oh yoohoo, I remember being so cult obsessed with the cruder Canadian version. I still remember Pamee's voice
As an Aussie about your age, man is this bringing back memories! Detentionnaire really got ended on a cliffhanger, huh?
Fun Fact: Grojband is being made by the same people who made the Total Drama Series, 6teen, Stoked and Camp Lakebottom.
