- Terraria max melee damage is absurd... Melee Damage. So we've looked at max melee speed and max dodge, now its time for maximum damage! Today I show off the many ways you can increase your % melee damage, ranging from armour, accessories and character buffs. Unlike the other 2 maxed out builds, the viability of this setup is actually fantastic, giving you the ability to take out bosses like the Moonlord in sub 20 seconds with the Zenith. idk most bosses that don’t require specific biome to be spawned in, so technically, most bosses
@@TheMonsieurCheese well you can wait for a plantera bulb to spawn
Then put golems summon near it and hallowfy the surroundings, you can't summon the Brain or EOC because you would need an evil biome but you can fight the queen slime and plantera out of their respective biome to the Crimson or corruption so technically you can but it's a pretty tedious task to do. Also forgot deerclops you can lure him out of the ice biome but he's ai is annoying to deal with but it is doable, in journey mode probably.
And I don't know about the wall of flesh and I forgot skeletons again you can lure him to the outside of the dungeon but then again only in journey mode since the time needed to go to different biomes and luring them out is a lot so you have to freeze the time in journey mode
@@TheMonsieurCheese other than my entire essay you probably can't go further than all but one of the bosses in journey mode unless you use mods to summon the wall of flesh in the surface and beat it in time so that the others don't despawn
I've seen many videos explaining damage and crit chance in Terraria. Basically, even tho this it's the highest base damage, the highest DPS it's obtained by also adding crit chance, so you're hitting big numbers more consistently instead of occasionally.
My favourite build is crit ranger, after you get enough accessories to boost your crit chance to 100% (it can get up to 126%) the 24% from your accessories can all be switched to menacing, then after using ichor bullets, you can really rack the damage up

@@beepboop5301 Attack speed it's only good in Terrablade's, whenever you want to hit an enemy with the actual sword or you want to extend the lengths of whips and yoyo strings (Yes, yoyos gains distance from melee speed. Why? Idk)
I always go full lucky, unless summoner or ranger. And ranger I make sure to hit 100crit when stealth
Orichalcum leggings give 8% extra damage, more that the hollowed leggings' 7%. It's such a small thing yet it's bothering me so much...
Well Hollowed set bonus let you dodge attacks so 1% less damage on a legging sounds fair to me

1. you need the entire set of armor for the set bonus
2. the video is about max damage not survivability
If you get a friend (or an alt if you don’t know what those are) and make them equip nebula armor you can get an extra 15% damage buff from the damage nebula buff after collecting 3 of the pink wisps that drop after they kill enemies.
it's 45% with three stacks, so even crazier than that
or swap to a nebula loadout, kill some things for the boosters, then swap back (most easily with the F1, F2, and F3 keys)
If you’re using yo-yos you can swap out the putrid scent for the yo-yo bag. This makes it even more cracked if you’re using something like the terrarian

the total defense is still 59, which is indeed a glass cannon.

One of my friends who used to play this with me figured out an insane melee glass cannon build while we were messing around in an all-items world called Builder's Workshop, and I've actually improved it a little since then. Just to let y'all know, this build is purely focused on raw melee damage output, and not much else. If you get hit a few times, you're still dead, and this build _does_ require your world to be in Master Mode.
If y'all want a list of what I used for the updated version, the current build is as follows:
*Armor*
- Helmet: Shinobi Infiltrator's Helmet (Provides a 20% increase in melee damage)
- Chest armor: Solar Flare Breastplate (Provides a 29% increase in melee damage)
Leg armor: Orichalcum Leggings (Provides an 8% increase in overall damage, the best relevant damage increase I could find, as well as an 11% increase in movement speed)
*Accessories:*
- Celestial Starboard (This accessory has nothing to do with melee damage, but helps you avoid getting hit as much, thanks to the movement abilties it provides - You could replace this with the Putrid Scent for an additional 5% overall damage increase if you use the Shrimpy Truffle mount for movement, like in this video)
- Celestial Shell (Provides a 10% increase in overall damage, as well as many other boosts, with an additional 5.1% melee damage increase at night, as well as some other boosts)
- Fire Gauntlet (Provides a 12% increase in melee damage and melee speed, as well as a 10% increase to the size of your melee weapons, in addition to temporarily lighting enemies you hit with melee attacks on fire)
- Mechanical Glove: (Same benefits as Fire Gauntlet, but without the fire. The reason it's here is because the boosts that accessories provide can often be stacked alongside those of their upgrades, with the Fire Gauntlet being an upgrade of the Mechanical Glove)
- Warrior Emblem (Provides a 15% increase in melee damage)
- Avenger Emblem (Provides a 12% increase in overall damage)
- Destroyer Emblem (Provides a 10% increase in overall damage, as well as an 8% increase to critical strike chance)
*All accessories should be reforged to the Menacing modifier so that each one provides an additional 4% damage increase*
*Weapon:* Zenith (Reforged to Legendary)
If you've done it right, your Zenith should do around 525 damage at night, and somewhere between 400-500 damage during the day.
Edit: After watching this video, I learned that the Shinobi Infiltrator's Helmet provides a 20% increase in melee damage, as opposed to the 16% increase that the Frost Helmet provides, so I'm updating the build accordingly.
I saw somewhere that a 50/50 balance between Lucky and Menacing provides slightly better performance on DPS, thoughts on that?
Fun fact: The sun stone alone is better than both the werewolf charm and moon stone combined
This can be optimized by getting as much crit chance as you can, on top of it. Not sure where the perfect balance is, but a mix of menacing and lucky always gets me more damage than just menacing.
Menacing is better because hybrid builds exist
since armor and accessories already give a lot of damage%, menacing reforge doesnt do all that much because it stacks additively with the other damage bonus
your dps increases more when using lucky reforge for more crit chance (unless crit is already at 100%)
also, luck affects damage randomization so further dps can be gained
+4% damage is ALWAYS (no exceptions) is better or equal than +4% crit chance

havent started the video yet but i reckon the setup includes at least 5 damage boosting accessories, those in question being: warrior, destroyer, and avenger emblems, mechanical glove, and fire gauntlet.
fun fact: with cheat sheet, you can add 6 extra accesory slots with them all having warrior emblems. Not sure why you can have 7 of the same accessories at a time, but it's amazing.

Personally I would’ve opted for legendary modifiers instead, because while the damage increase is slightly lower than ruthless, it also buffs use time and crit chance, which(correct me if I’m wrong) contributes to an overall higher dps.
Swapping the hallowed leggings to shinobi infiltrator leggings = better dps. Sure, SIL doesnt give you suck comical number on your weapons as hallowed leggings, but its better in terms of dps

I noticed that the zenith's single target dps rise when you are stacked with your target and clicks the closest to you.

The only issue with maximum critical chance is that past 100%, it's irrelevant. And since the zenith can't benefit from attack speed buffs, something like the mele drop from the empress would probably be better. That's because crit builds benefit most from high attack speed.

@maddenbanh8033 True, however, it would be interesting to see if the faster attack speed mixed with the higher crit chance could perform similarly to the zenith. Of course, the zenith will probably win just because it is supposed to be the best weapon in the game and has insane multi-target dps.

Max speed with your legs not mounts or anything
There is a point of going max damage, as Bosses like daytime empress of light can be made way easier with those. I for once tryed it with my mage, but didn't fiddle much about the armour set. With all of that, broomstick as a endless flying mount, and last prism, I ended the fight in seconds, and not by messing it up.
Looking foward to the other damage types, especially minion dmg.
one thing to not for those who are going for more dps
while i'm not sure of the 100% optimization the full solar set gives a tiny bit more dps and a ton more defence. I think thats mostly because of the crit chance on the helmet being grater than the dmg increase on the ninja helmet.
if your enemy is directly behind you while youre firing your zenith as far away from you as possible you get even more dps, i was able to achieve around 26K with just a standard melee setup
Max ranger damage: Stealth mode full vortex armour, proximity mine launcher, mini nuke 1, all damage accessories with menacing and damage buffs. Bonus points: Nebula armour's damage boost
If you use external programs or websites like Terrasavr, you can make your player even more stronger by adding heck ton of Exquisitely Stuffed buff on each buff slot. I tried doing so, and Moon Lord didn't even last a second, until realizing he is dead.
this build is gonna be absurd with some of the best tank builds out there... Going to try this out with my team once or twice

I found the highest base melee damage in the game, you will need to be in a master mode world and use a demon heart from WOF to get 7 accessory slots, get a ruthless meowmere, menacing warrior emblem, menacing avenger emblem, menacing mechanical glove, menacing fire gauntlet, menacing destroyer emblem, menacing celestial stone, menacing celestial shell, orichalcum leggings, solar flare breastplate, shinobi infiltrators helmet, any exquisitely stuffed food item, wrath potion, ale/sake & a shrimpy truffle. Wait until its night equip all the armor pieces, accessories, find a near pool of water, consume the wrath potion, exquisitely stuffed food item & ale/sake, use the shrimpy truffle, then dip into some water and imidiatly come back out of the water. This will give you 722 base melee damage with the ruthless meowmere for a few seconds.

You should do a weapon review on the lunar portal staff after 1.4.4 it got insanely buffed and is the best summon weapon in the game

Throw a worm scarf or brain of confusion on instead of the putrid scent and an endurance potion and you get slightly less squishy and you also get the build I usually play.
What you can do to actually maximize the dmg is to mix menacing and lucky since crit multiples the dmg and menacing increases the base dmg

Chlorophyte mask turtle scale mail and hollowed greaves is the best pre plantera melee set for damage

Can we get the near-complete inverse of this and get the best survivability build? I feel like a maxed-out defense/dodge/damage reduction build would be REALLY interesting to see you pull off
Edit: the Zenith actually gets WORSE within attack speed, as higher attack speed means that the zenith fires more copies of itself rather than its component swords; since the projectiles that resemble the zenith lack the homing properties of all its other projectiles, this actually results in a net DECREASE in damage
I think 'Cannonest of glass cannons' fits more than 'Glassiest of glass cannons'

Does raw damage fully out-DPS crit chance? There's probably some videos on it but I'd love to see your take on it.
If you want DPS, then splitting evenly between damage and crit is optimal.

In my experience the moon lord’s lunar portal has proven exceptionally dangerous with a full Valhalla set and accessories

Maybe it’s just me, but ever since this 1.4.4 update, melee has just been a much better class than the rest. I used to be a mage main but it just doesn’t compare anymore.

Hey, I think that you should review the witch's broom, I don't see many people using it when it's an indirect upgrade to the ufo mount, the small hitbox lets you get into 3 tile high spaces!
