You guys are truly OPM lover , some reactors only react to Filipino belters but not on OPM artist.
this is like a gospel songs, after all the heart breaks and hurts, always finding herself going back to her creator that will direct her to the right places. "KUMPAS" is what musical director does in a musical concert or choir. Thats what she is praying to that song kumpas
3:07 - niligtas - means saved. In her song "Ilang beses mo akong niligtas" means you have saved me for so many times.
I know most would think of the meaning of Kumpas as Compass, but "kumpas" in Tagalog/Filipino means the hand gesture of a person directing the rhythm or flow of the beat of music in live performance. (TL;DR conduct in music terminology, specifically in orchestra)
Kumpas with its movements defines the measurement of a beat like 1/2, 3/4, 4/4 and etc. It can also define the loudness or softness of delivery of music.
It basically is like a metronome, but waving your hands instead. In this song, it might be a symbolism to guidance.
In a sidenote, compass would be kompas instead. If you are looking for a Tagalog term then it would be paraluman, but no one uses it to mean compass now as the meaning shifted to a beautiful woman.
Ligtas (meaning safe) is the root word of niligtas (meaning saved).
8:20 Good observation Efra! Moira is well known to be a Christian and her songs have this Christian music flavor not just in the melody itself, but it is also apparent in the lyrics.
13:07 No, machine translation cannot directly translate kumpas so it approximate to kompas. I've already translated it in the beginning of my comment. It's easy to mistake it for compass as well since kumpas and kompas both help you not get lost. One in music, the other in location respectively.
Agree! Hand gestures made by a music conductor/director while conducting/directing an orchestra/choir
I believe it was written primarily as the theme song of the teleserye 2g2bt. And Moira said they (she and jason) wrote the song with Kathniel in mind taking into consideration what Kathniel is to each other- the compass/direction/guide of each other. You listen to the song. It speaks of relationships nothing else. It was not written as kumpas when one is singing.
O9loòj9i
Kumpas is also compass in tagalog. But I think the lyrics "Ikaw ang kumpas pag naliligaw" tells that the tagalog word "kumpas" is used in the song as "compass", as it is used to determine direction when someone is lost. Either way, I think it goes through the meaning of the song.
*this is my own opinion*😊
@@taehyungsnoodlehair3633 i agree with you
I’ve seen and hear moira sang live just a few days a go Dec 5 it’s Our City founding anniversary and she’s one of the guest Performer starting 6pm - 2 am I’m standing just to wait for her because she’s the last performer Believe it or not I’m standing there for so long and I’m starting to feel my legs aching and I’m so hungry of course and when it’s her time performing gosh All of that pain goes away HAHA I didn’t feel any of it because she’s so Good and she speaks so soft like a cotton and like how she sings All of my pain is just so worth it And I’m looking forward seeing her again❤️I just share my experience and ps she’s so beautiful in person 💕
One of my fav. songs nowadays..i played it everydays so many times..very relatable song ...this song for me is for God who always there for us and never give up on us..love this so much
she changed the lyrics in this performance. this is a hopeful song but it became a song for a broken heart😭 like instead of "you are the destination and the end" she said "the destination of our end" and "how could i believe you're in front of me" to "how could i believe you're not in front of me"
also the "i didn't plan to fall like this" to "i didn't plan to be left like this"😭
Kumpas means "conduct" as in that of a *conductor.* So she's basically saying the person is her direction when she's lost.
heared this song live last dec 5💗💗 moira is so gorgeous😭😭 her voice is so beautiful & relaxing
Moira’s live performances are surreal! If it’s just your first time watching her, you would really think that she’s lip-syncing coz she’s that good! ❤
So…this is how Heaven sounds like. Her voice impressed me each time I listen to her live 😍
I think Kumpas in the lyrics means beat or rhythm. You know when you are hurt, your world stopped. It's like when you are lost and you are not in the rhythm in your life or you have been in the hardest position in your life and feel like losing and wondering whats going to happen next, and there is a person who always there for you and keep cheering you up and keeps you going so you dont missed the beat, rhythm or the flow of your life that is why "ikaw ang kumpas, pag naliligaw". And "ilang beses mo kong niligtas" means the person thats always keep her in the flow, saved her. THAT'S DEEP!
when people appreciate the work and authenticity of a Filipino artist it inspire us to make more songs for the world
I have gone to Moira’s concert and her voice live sounds exactly like her voice in her recordings! I was so blown away! She is just that goooood! 💕 I love her. 🥰
Wale, there are little changes from the lyrics of the song.
This latest version w/c she sung in the Wish Bus sounds like referring to an ex-lover. It's like a bit sadder in a mood. (She changed the lyrics on some parts after her break-up.) The feel or the emotion of the two songs are a little different on some parts.
The previous version w/c was on the official lyric video could refer to a lover, or God, or people in general that is your "kumpas" or the one that gives you direction in life. The mood here is very intimate & light, and you can feel a good feeling and not sad. This one is the one I am always listening to and my fave. 💖 Yet both version of the songs are wonderfully crafted tho and you can feel the very emotion that it wants to say! Each line of the song is a gem in my heart! It's very soothing, too, whenever I can't sleep I play the song and it served as my safest lullaby. ☺️😊
Thank you for your reactions! I am always enlightened & entertained every moment I watch you guys! :) 💕
I wish you both singing a sigle from filipino music..we filipino peoples..we support you guys.and thank you to both of you for appreciating filipino music we filipino love you guys
Moira is the most listened to artist in Spotify (in the Philippines) for 2022. and i cannot disagree because she is also my most listened artist in any othe platform (Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify and CZcams). Sisiw!!!
im so glad and proud because we have a singer like that moiraaaaa!! her voice are so beautiful ❤️ make some noise 🇵🇭!!!
nowadays for an OPM (including all it's subgenres) song to become truly iconic, it has to have an official Wishbus version. 😀
Disclaimer: This is NOT the exact translation of this song for it does not have an official translation yet. Also, please excuse my grammar accuracy and my choice of word. It's not good but at least you'll get to understand the meaning of the lyrics. Thank you for reacting to Moira. This song is one of my all time favorite song from her. It's like I am talking to God or to my parents. There are two meanings of Kumpas in Filipino. The direct meaning is "Compass" while the figurative meaning is "A direction to follow - sometimes through a hand sign". In music, we also used "Kumpas" as guide/pattern for Time signature executed through a hand movement.
Original Lyrics
[Verse I]
How can I take back all the words that I have said?
(Paano bang mababawi lahat ng mga nasabi?)
I never thought you'll come in an unexpected moment without any sign
('Di naman inakalang ika'y darating lang bigla ng walang babala)
[Refrain]
In an instant, everything has changed
(Sa isang iglap, nagbagong lahat)
I can no longer pretend anymore
(Hindi ko na kaya pa na magpanggap)
[Chorus]
You are my compass every time I'm lost
(Ikaw ang kumpas pag naliligaw)
You are the color in the deep blue sky
(Ikaw ang kulay sa langit na bughaw)
In every storm that passes, you are a haven that I need
(Sa bawat bagyo na dumadayo, ikaw ang kanlungan na kailangan ko)
Though you're not aware, you have saved me for so many times
(Kahit hindi mo alam, ilang beses mo akong niligtas)
You are my destination and my end
(Ikaw ang hantungan at aking wakas)
[Verse II]
How can I convince myself that you're already in front of me?
(Paano maniniwala ika'y nasa aking harapan)
It was never planned that I'll be captivated like this
(Di naman naiplano ako'y mabihag ng ganto)
Is this really true?
(Totoo ba ito?)
[Refrain]
In an instant, something in me has changed
(Sa isang iglap, nagbago ako)
I can no longer take to be separated from you
(Hindi ko na kayang mawalay sayo)
[Chorus]
You are my compass every time I'm lost
(Ikaw ang kumpas pag naliligaw)
You are the color in the deep blue sky
(Ikaw ang kulay sa langit na bughaw)
In every storm that passes, you are a haven that I need
(Sa bawat bagyo na dumadayo, ikaw ang kanlungan na kailangan ko)
Though you're not aware, you have saved me for so many times
(Kahit hindi mo alam, ilang beses mo akong niligtas)
You are my destination and my end
(Ikaw ang hantungan at aking wakas)
[Bridge]
I just hope you'll accept me for who I am
(Sana'y iyong matanggap kung sino ako talaga)
[Chorus]
You were my compass when I was lost
(Ikaw yung kumpas nung naliligaw)
You were my color in a deep blue sky
(Naging kulay ka sa langit na bughaw)
In every storm that passed, I've found my haven in you
(Sa bawat bagyo na dumayo, ikaw yung kanlungan na nahanap ko)
Even when I am not aware, you have saved me for so many times
(Kahit nung di ko alam ilang beses mo akong niligtas)
You are my destination and my end
(Ikaw yung hantungan at aking wakas)
Salamat bro sana marami ka pang magawang translation na knta para sa kanila
Just came across your reaction to this video while I'm searching the acoustic version of this song. I'm totally new to this song, heard it last night over dinner, about 8 hours ago, my kids had on Spotify and this came on, I was hooked right away as I asked them to keep it on repeat so I can listen to the lyrics. Just knew it would potentially be a project song for church with a few tweaks, not knowing it was already rewritten for worship. That version is so much more beautiful and meaningful. Anyway "Kumpas" means conduct as in what the music maestro does to lead the musicians. In the worship version, she's singing directly to God saying He's the conductor who leads her when she's lost, He's the color of the skies up in the heavens, in all her trials and tribulations(storms), He's the one she always turns to, there's so many times He saved her (even when she doesn't know), here in her destiny up to the end of times.
I really wish i can translate the whole song on the rewritten version but it's way passed 4 am and i just finished learning the acoustic version for church, I think you guys get the point tho. The worship version really captured the beauty and meaning of true love which is through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Father. Love your reactions btw. especially this one. Keep em coming and God bless you both❤️🙏
To EFRA & WALESKA...BRAVO!!!
👏 👏 👏 PINOY PROUD! YOU GUYS ARE CERTIFIED PINOY KAPAMILYA!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
This song is her closure song. The end line means like “ even if you dont know, you have saved me many times from the outcome of our ending”
moira is the true embodiment of OPM.
Kumpas also means compass or bruhula in tagalog. It's only more commonly used in music which means beat or rhythm. In this context Kumpas means compass since the lyrics says "Ikaw ang kumpas pag naliligaw" which translates to "You are my compass whenever I'm lost."
Thank to you both for sharing this vedio..so beautiful song of Moyra❤😊
Moira is a heartbreaker..🤣❤️🇵🇭
Dito ka lang is my favorite song right now. So many good songs by moira.
The way she is using it, kumpas means "rhythm" as in " you are my rhythm"(ikaw and kumpas}
Waleska you are so beautiful..🥰 that's what i noticed first...🥰 I love this song so much...

Wazzup waleska and efra?? Can you also pls react to adie and janine berdin perform mahika live on wish 107.5. thanks and more power.!
She sings like an angel
Moira grew up in church. One of things that I noticed is that, most people that grew up in church, esp. being in a worship team, most of them has insane voices.
I am now really curious how you guys will react to gospel songs live (e.g. hillsong united). Btw, you guys are amazing persons! God bless you!
Cute reactions ♥️♥️♥️
Did you know that she actually changed the lyrics of this song after the breakup? I think. 🤔
It's amazing actually and I love the latest version.
The original was for the person she loved while the revision is for the One above 😇🙏
You made it to 800K subs!!!
Certainly, this is one of Ms Moira's bests! "Hugot song! Very popular in the Philippines.
love how efra’s so into it!!! hahaha❤❤❤
i love this song...its greatt 😍
I love all your reactions! Pls react on Michael V.'s parody of Gusto ko ng bumitaw. It's really good! More power to the both of you! 😊
You can also listen to her Christmas covers, it’s sooo good
Can you also listen to "Ikaw at Sila" and "Rewritten Vow" - btw she just had a concert and most of the songs are new.
Congrats for the 800k sub milestone.
Ikaw ang kumpas pag naliligaw is more like "You are my guide when I get lost".
You both are so adorable 🥰.
Actually, kumpas means rhythm or beat using hand gestures. I think the lyric means when shes getting lost(musically) the other person helps her back in to the beat,i guess.
Good Day to both of you💙🇵🇭
Waleska Herrera..in P.H soon.!😊😁
moira drops a video, efra has to watch 😉
From 6.00 - 6.20... I'll say "same here"... Then disconnect to everything as if no one exist...
Ganda nang song ganda pa ang kumanta.
i always love watching ur reactions because u also give insights and share ur knowledge abt things in music. i hope u could react to kaia's performance of dalawa on wish bus too!
i am 2 months late with this comment but KUMPAS ( the original / older lyrics )was my favorite out of all her songs, and here, she sang the newer version with newer / changed lyrics ( some lines was changed and it became quite a sad song ) and I just think it was kind of sad tbh. but i still listen the older one but I can't unhear this version.... 😢
nice song and so good voice Moira
Moira has her own style in singing. The song may not that hard to sing, but what makes it hard to sing is the fact that you have to set the perfect mood for your audience to feel what the song is all about.
To be honest, IMO, there are moments where big belters sing mellow songs like these, but when they really overdo it with the high notes and like only focus to make the song hard, the magic of the song is completely gone. I've seen a rendition of this song and that singer really made it high, belt-y, and with strong head voice, and it's fricking amazing no dough; but for real, I prefer this song to be sung this way - the magical Moira Dela Torre way. ❤️
If you'd launch a virtual singing contest, I'm convinced not-yet-popular talented Filipinos will join. Using your trained skills (both formally acquired and thru experience), you can remotely judge/coach some upcoming artists. With your connections in the industry such as Moophs, perhaps some just need a lucky break. It's nice to think about some wild possibilities - or maybe it's just the weed 🤔
I'm glad to hear that it sounds like worship song since the new lyrics of kumpas has become worship instead of love song..
Ikaw ang Kumpas means the man set in motion of her life, that man moves her when the woman is starting to lock herself from not moving on
waleska we know culpa, we have local telenovela entitled MEA CULPA, we really have almost same culture
niligtas means save .. the lyrics "ilang beses mo ako niligtas" means (many times you save me )..
Kumpas means a direction by a command using hand gestures.. it is the way of a maestro to give a command of a tempo on choir or a corale...
New setup was lit
You guys should check out Bita and the Botflies!!! :D
I love this song
Have you reacted to "Before it sinks in" by her? If not, I hope you do so
i remember subscribin you're at 200k subs when you're reactin to Rollin In The Deep by KZ Tandingan and noooow you're 800k subs, what a massive numbers! road to 1m subs!
3:06 niligtas means rescued. Efra
Dito ka lang and Kumpas is my favorite song too Efra 😂
Akoy niligtas means You saved me❣️❣️❣️❣️
3:08 "Niligtas" means "saved"
❤️
Kumpas directly means beat ,tempo or direction in this particular song
Kumpas is also translated in beat or time...
Just a bit of a trivia, Moira and EZ Mil went to the same grade school though Moira I think is about 2 or 3yrs ahead of EZ (iF I'm not mistaken though), came from the same city , Olongapo City here in P.I
Its "niligtas" means saved.
efra - ilan beses moko niligtas means "how many times you saved me"
Niligtas meaning Saved.
you got me to subscribe when you both sang at the chorus 😆😆😆
waleska herrera, por favor, make a reaction video on Jona Viray's Help me get over you, performed at the wish bus. i just like to see on how are u going to react on it in terms of musicality
Guest a Filipino that can translate these lyrics for you on the spot. You'd be swooned!
I hope you can react to *Moira’s* video when she joined a busker in Central Part New York. She sang *Can’t Help Falling in Love.* ☺️
Can you try this.. nobela gutiar cover..
I was mocked by my ex gf cause i keep bringing up Moira to her how nice and good her voice when she was still not big. Look at her now so proud that i can say im one of the first to love her music.
from: our end/ our "happy" ending
to: the end of 'us'
Not Efra fanboying the whole song with feelings 😂😂
