  • Aloha! Ride the big blue wave with what turned out to be one of the most delicious beers brewed on this channel, a clone of the Kona Big Wave Golden Ale. With bright hop aromas and a shimmering golden hue, this makes for a great summer drink. To be enjoyed under palm trees, on rivers, or simply in the comfort of your own garage.

    Regarding Galaxy hops at 60 mins: We brewed a user submitted recipe and followed to a T. Also, we don't often buy hops (we have an entire freezer full of free hops) and didn't even think about the price of Galaxy. So, point about not using Galaxy as a bittering hop is HEARD. We'll be more careful about that in the future. Thanks for the feedback, y'all.

    Clawhammer bois, love your videos. I just tried this beer after conditioning in the bottle for a week only and it's absolutely delicious and moreish. I used half and half Citra and Galaxy for all my hop additions, and I also dry hopped with both Citra and Galaxy but only at 1.6g/l -------- BEST BEER YET!

      How long did you have it in the fermenter(what kind)? Any lagering? Asking because my bottled beer barely ever tastes good to me after a week 😅

    Just brewed this. A little light on the base malt. Should be closer to 11 lbs instead of 9... most 5 gal blonde recipes call for 11 lbs of pale 2 row. My OG landed around 1.042. Should finish light at 4.2% ABV

    The recipe on the website shows a 2oz citra dry hop, but it's stated in the video that it was not dry hopped?

      Yes I dry hopped it with citra and the remainder of the galaxy. They decided not to dry hop

    Just brewed 2 batches, one with Galaxy and another with Cascade as bittering hops. The Galaxy one is outstandingly tastier. I really thought that Cascade would bring way more citrus flavors.. well.. I was wrong

      @@noahtaylor5855 I've been brewing the same recipe every month for about 8 months now. I ferment for 5 days at 17ºC, then 5 more days at 23ºC. Coldcrash at -1ºC for as long as necessary.

    Hey Guys, First time posting, Long time viewing lol, wondering if any DMS was at all a problem with leaving the pot lid on during the 60 min boil? unless it was off during the boil (just noticed during the video) and how did you find the bittering qualities of using Galaxy?

      I did. While researching the ingredients I only found what they used so I decided to dry hop and the only way I could get the right numbers with sufficient amount to dry hop was to add the galaxy at 60 minutes

    Great vids guys, especially love the latest cuts. Got a question tho - I've noticed you almost never do a whirlpool to settle the trub, does that not affect your beer at all?

      Hip spider does a pretty good job of keeping it out of kettle. Also, we generally don't empty the kettle and enough settles out to keep most out of the fermenter

    In the video you use 7 gallons of water, and the recipe on the website there's a beersmith screenshot showing 7 gallons as well but in the notes it says 7.5 gallons. Just curious which one you'd recommend to go off of?

    Hey I heard no dry hop in the video but looking at the recipe page you don't mention dryhop but yet in the screen shot recipe it shows 2 oz citra dry hop. Did you dry hop or not? Really want to try it out

    Have a clone for the same brew 90m boil at 60m 5g of galaxy at 15m 13g of citra at 5m 13g of citra and bryhop after 7days 50g. Grain 3.7kg pale ale and 700g of cara ruby(50 ebg)

      It should be somewhere around 4.5%. It’s not big on alcohol but the flavor is on point. It’s just a nice refreshing beer

    Those hops looked rather yellow. Wonder if that's why you thought your wort smelled like socks. Glad it doesn't seem like it ended up in your beer though!

      That was not even as clear as you can get (without any filters etc..). Cold crash and gelatin is what you are looking for if you want to make clear beer. You can even enhance it with irish moss during boil and clearing agent during fermentation.. you will get very clear beer.

    How do you pour that slowly when pressing a tapping lever so hard? I have 9 PSI at 7 degrees C in my keg and if I would press tap like you I will take a full glass of foam
