Listen up Pete. The jig is up with Scott Boras. Teams are playing hardball with his clients. Make Scott work for you, not the other way around.
I couldn’t agree more with you. He works for the athlete… it shouldn’t be the other way around.
Pete Alonso needs to wake up! Despite his HR & RBI numbers, he's still ranking behind Paul Goldschmidt, Freddie Freeman, Vlad Guerrero Jr., Matt Olson and even Christian Walker, who had comparable offensive numbers in 2023 but he also has 2 gold gloves! A .217 batting average simply doesn't cut it if you're trying to earn top dollar on the market! He better take whatever the Mets offer him, which I'm sure will be a reasonable & fair offer... otherwise he's doomed to make the same mistake Michael Conforto made when he thought he would get more on the open market. I'm a big Alonso fan but I know baseball well enough to know you can't demand top dollar when you have so many other players at your position who rank above you because of your extremely low batting average and the certainty that he's not athletic enough at his position to be capable of winning a gold glove!
He could end up in “baseball Siberia” if he listens to Boras. He has the richest owner in baseball and commercial opportunities in New York. He should think about these factors before Boras makes him go to San Francisco or anywhere else, because they offer him two million more.

I would be too… although if he wants to go, then you let him go. If Boras wants Alonso to go to baseball “Siberia” for the money, then so be it.
It wouldn't be us losing Pete. It would be Pete leaving. I don't want a player that doesn't want to be here.

I agree… once Pete hired Boras as his agent, he was no longer a Met to me. Any agent can negotiate a new contract with a current team. But you hire Boras, to help you test the market. Off he goes.
