I was with you until the end when you complained about the bags because of your own personal lack of time management skills (take an extra 5 seconds to open the bag and check) or even do something as simple as putting a sticker or a piece of tape on the zipper handle to signify which one you're looking at.
Such a silly thing to complain about. Especially when the bag quality is fantastic.
Your review was alright but it got me to watch until the end and comment so you won this exchange I suppose lol

    Few corrections:
32-BIT Floating Point is not clipless audio. It’s a clipless container, but you can still clip at the mic level, or at the DAC level before it’s recorded. It also doesn’t mean you can increase gain without increasing room noise as you said, that’s unfortunately not really how audio works IRL. But rather it gives you less signal noise when you normalize audio levels in post - this is due to largely to the floating point rather than the 32-BIT.
Also, the Mic 2 sounds just fine with external lav mics (DJI’s lav mic sound like trash though). I’ve used it with the Sennheiser ME-2, MKE 2 and Deity w.Lav Pro, all of which sound exactly how they normally do. Just make sure you have turned off any EQ options inside of the receiver (I.e. low cut filter). I have also permanently disabled the noise cancelling - because it’s cool for someone who doesn’t mix audio, but like yourself, I would never want to bake that in to my audio file.
Honestly, IDK what makes something pro or not. But as someone who supports my fam with video/audio work, I can definitely use these interchangeably with my Zoom 32-BIT Float recorders without any perceivable differences in virtually all cases. The internal mic isn’t phenomenal but is EQ-able - you could also grab the Senn Gold Series MKE 2 and be getting genuine broadcast quality audio with this setup. I wish it had a threaded jack, but the cable locking mechanism they built in is serviceable for now I guess. 😅

Lack of timecode support is the biggest ommission IMO. In terms of gain w/ 32 bit float, my understanding, and also what I see in my testing, is that turning up/down the gain makes no difference to the noise, only the level the audio will record at. Normalise a -9dB gain clip and a +9dB gain clip and you'll see / hear no difference.

The Rode Smart Lav+ sounds pretty good with the DJI mics. However, it's a TRRS connection which only works on the Mic 1. For the Mic 2, it requires a TRRS to TRS connector like the Rode SC3... that said, I think the DJI Mic sounds a bit better.

Why not local mute on the transmission? Some people wearing mics sometimes want a private conversation or go to the restroom. Despite the Jan 2024 firmware upgrade, this feature, although present on the original DJI Mic, is missing on the Mic 2.

Very good video, Zoom has also announced a new generation of its recorders (H1, H4 and H6) with 32-bit floating point recording.
For you PRO level would it be the Rode Wireless PRO? Or what options would they be?
Let's hope that this year more products come out that record at 32 bits.
Do you know of any microphone (if it can be with a security thread like the RODE wireless PRO) that connects via Bluetooth, has 32-bit internal recording, can connect and record internally at the same time (the DJI Mic 2, you can not connect via bluetooth and record at the same time).
Finally, it fits inside a motorcycle helmet.
Thank you very much in advance

If I got it would be just a different tool to use for quick setup when I don't want to get involved in concealing a lav under someone's shirt. If I'm going to the trouble of using a lav I'm going to use a traditional uhf wireless setup with quality lav. The dilemma for me is I'm not a content creator so how many jobs could I have such large device clipped to someone's shirt even with the logo taped off? As far as quality it's a big upgrade compared to on camera mics. Sometimes having the ability to quickly mic someone trumps a more complicated setup that doesn't get used.

Woah what? DJI mics don't play well with non dji lavs? Is that true? Make a video on that it could blow up, that's a massive flaw if true. I doubt it though considering there's a creator recording on it with a Shure sm7b and he usually records with a zoom f3 and he didn't notice any difference to say something like that.

  • @ChuckCalhoun1

Pro audio is Lectrosonics, Zaxcom, Shure, Wizycom. Pro mics is DPA, Sanken, Schoeps, Sennheiser. If I show up to a gig with this gear I would be laughed at. Any 2.4Ghz wireless system is not pro.

  • @TwoTimesRmedia

I get all of what you are saying. DJI themselves never called them pro . That's coming from those creators you are speaking of who got the mics from them. I think what they mean is it has "some" pro features not all of them . They could definitely come out with a pro level mic as I'm liking these so far and all the power they are packing in such a compact size .

DJI's solution is a dedicated channel under the clip for the lav cord, so any pulling of the cord doesn't actually get to the jack. It actually works perfectly well and is quicker than screwing down a plug. So I agree that not having a locking thread is a strange omission but it's far from the absolute disaster it might seem.

    • @jamesalexanderbarnettdp9479
      @jamesalexanderbarnettdp9479 Před 3 měsíci

@@alanoakley3242it’s a massive omission in my view, with all due respect the DJI lav is probably very average, it limits being able to plug in a high quality lav.
I know you could argue if your spending £200 on a lav mix you will probably have a more pro wireless system anyway, but the fact you can record 32bit float it would be great if it supported more high end mics.

It's a 100 dollar 32bit float recording interface with enough power to drive a Shure sm7b. (Only a few years ago, to power that mic you'd need a 100 dollar ADAPTER to add to your cable to boost the mic volume up) That is absolutely 100% pro level.
